It seems like the two would go hand in hand, Onlive supports touch screens with their tablet/smartphone app launch. Would it be possible to port that app over to the vita and have the controls mapped out to the vita's tactile buttons, touchscreen, and most importantly analog sticks!? Then you can play vita exclusives, as well as full blown console/pc games... That would be OP!!

This would also be an alternative to using their joystick with your tablet. It's reasons like these that I believe Jailbreaking stuff is legitamate. If the device is capable of such a feature why block us from using it? It's not like its for prirating software, Onlive is a paid legitimate service.

Idk if this guy is still around here, but there was a member on this forum who acted like he was an Onlive salesman or something. He would make threads almost daily about Onlive, and I think he said that he used it on his PSP. So maybe it'll work on Vita.

It could work definitely for Vita or even the 3DS I'm sure, if they built an app for it. It is essentially streaming the games from a server, but however Sony or MS probably would not allow this, because it's a separate party offering games to their service, and neither Sony or Nintendo would probably want to add competition to their service or lose control and profits from another service on their systems.

Over wifi yes, on 3g lol no. Atleast 100ms to the node, unplayable. Even on wifi it wouldn't be that great.

Exactly.

Sony, Ms and Nintendo would most likely just get their own streaming service instead.

I think we will see the beginnings of them next gen but we won't see the full-blown thing until the gen after probably.

Onlive is a bit ahead of its' time I think.

Precisely Why I mentioned jailbreaking these items being a legitimate idea so we can do things like this. Sony would still make money off their vita exclusives + sale of the initial unit itself...

Why would you buy a new system just to play games with input lag, artifacting, washed out graphics in general, and all those other lovely Onlive features?

Everything that can handle live streams should handle OnLive in minimum qulity at least

Vita would support it, but i don't think Sony would allow to make concurent on there own platform :p

From a tech standpoint, yes, all Onlive is is just a very small app.

However.....

The problem is connection speed. Wifi and 3G are just not fast enough to support the type of stream you need to play onlive games. Heck, my broadband plays onlive pretty poorly at 5-7meg download speeds. You need a really fast connection to get good preformance out of Onlive.

There's not a chance in hell that Sony would allow someone else's cloud gaming service on their dedicated gaming platform.

Except that Sony isn't going to make money off the hardware, it's a loss leader. They're not selling it at $600 like a mobile phone, they're selling it at $250.
