Half-Life 2 was better looking than anything in the Xbox360's first year pretty much, thats a 2 year gap.

Now we have Crysis, and by the time Xbox720/PS4 is release ... Crysis 2... nothing will match Crysis on the consoles in thier lifetimes let alone Crysis 2.

The gap is still there, anyone saying its closed that much is in denial, Crysis on the consoles would be a repeat of Doom3/Half-Life2/Chrinicles of Riddick/Far Cry on the Xbox1 ... GARBAGE.

Look at UT3 on PS3 and on a 7900GS. Identical - yes I have seen in person.

There are plenty of games that deliver fantastic visuals on lower end video cards, and others that push the boundries of what is technically possible with the latest hardware.

And $813 for my system upgrade - DVDrw, case, 160gb hdd not included. You get what you pay for

Yet you don't see PCs cranking out the level of visuals that the ps3 seems to be doing with that video card. The thing is this, consoles seem to be more efficient with their given hardware compared to the computer. But all in all, computers are still capable of more, given the right amount of money. And no, I'm not saying you have to spend $26000 (Yes, thousand, that's not a typo) dollars to have a decent PC, so leave it aloneExeed_Orbit

No he wrong and so are you, its not because the consoles are better at optimizing, its far from the truth, PC development is gradual,ebcause it has to appeal to a range of systems yes, but teh consoels are not more efficient, quite the opposite, a game sole developed for the PCs 7950 , a Duo Core and what 2GB RAM (specific ) would of slaughtered the consoles 3 years ago.

Haws nothing to do with console power ... this "Console graphics get better in years due to optimization" BS needs to stop, they know the limits form day 1, development time & Budget however is what influences it, it gets more expensive each generation, the 1st lot of games are not due to un-optmizatized games, its because of the lack of foresight into higher development costs with new technology.

Not at all...just the simple fact that PC at the time with about the same card (2 years ago) as the PS3 couldn't make or didn't visuals like uncharted..yet Hermits scream there lungs out about how the GPU is light years beyond the consoles, etc etc.

CoD2 is completely physics-free and the animations are damn bad by comparison. HL2 by comparison has more environmental interactivity and superb character animations.

Im not a cow im a gamer.. I bought a PS3 for MGS4, GT5 and FF13.. I bought it for teh games like i always have for all consoles. Everyone knows the PC is the most powerful medium in gaming. Im just saying i would expect the PC to have more maxed out hardware games like Crysis available every other month.

HL2 looks better than Cod 3, yes not only Cod 2 but also COD 3 which is on the X360. Look @ Gs screens if you want.
