@SolidGame_basic: Nintendo should have sued Sony then for ripping off zelda.
The font isn't even the same it's different, and in this game she has a pet ostrich.

Uh.. how is Horizon similar to Zelda?
Well, Transformers got Transmorphers. The Asylum [studio] is a master of this.
They sort of blur the lines between being just different enough and claiming to be a parody (I believe parody is covered under free speech laws, i.e. why Weird Al can do it and not get sued) of the original material.
We shall see if this developer can do the same, and if the same rules apply to interactive media (like games) as they do to more passive media (like film, tv, etc). I wish them luck, if only to act as a disruptor in the industry.

Nah, they can't. They'll try, though.
These companies change juuuussssst enough to not infringe, or they claim that the "original" wasn't really the original, but copied earlier works (i.e. we've had robot animals in media before, we've had post-apocalyptic tribes in media before, etc).
Don't worry about Sony, though, us PC folk are a bunch of filthy pirates so we won't buy this game in either case.
Also it should be noted that this is developed by Polaris Quest and, oddly enough, published by Polaris Quest.
"Hmmm, wonder if it's Chinese..."
Did some research and, wouldn't you know it, it's a subsidiary of Tencent. Tencent who, notoriously, is know for "stealth publishing" knockoffs. Tencent who, notoriously, is more or less an arm of the Chinese state.
Of course it's Chinese lol. Sorry not sorry for calling a duck a duck if it smells, looks, and quacks like a duck.
Don't worry though at least we got Wukong, and....Wukong. Out of China I mean. And Tencent-Epic gives you free games while pushing forced exclusivity on their store front.
Yup. Those Chinese. Really doing a lot of good for games 😋👍I'm sure they totally don't have a small army of underpaid, abused programmers making these games, either.
Nice of @SolidGame_basicto mention/imply in the title this is somehow PC's fault, and not China's or Tencent's fault..

You're saying Zelda invented bows and arrows, open world and para gliding in games?
@SolidGame_basic: yep, and alloy is even riding on horses.
This lights of motiram game is looking to be a great game though.

Poor Nintendo gamers 😆
I mean, look at Palworld, obviously its Pokemon with guns. I'll admit, I like the premises Light of Motiram and the fact I'm a fan of the Horizon games, I'm intrigued what I'm seeing here.
Lets ask our resident huge fan Horizon games and that's @madrocketeer what is your opinion and take? I don't believe its a ripoff, but inspiration I enjoy seeing from different studios.
@davillain: i agree...honestly I despise copy right bs. Its just annoying. There is even a lawsuit in Texas now from an influencer against someone that "copied" her vibes. Man, these people need to f off. The copy influencer is making bank because she's smoking hot, that's all it is.
"Inspired by" I think is what the developer is going for. The art team certainly took a few notes from Horizon in the visuals department. Still some cool looking beasties though.
In fairness the gameplay also looks fairly different. More melee focused and, maybe, with more survival elements.
I don't think Sony will sue anyway.

I mean, the visual inspiration is obvious. The bird machine on the right of the thumbnail looks very much like a Waterwing. The big machines in the back ground look like a mix between Tallnecks and Grazers. I've also seen a screenshot with an obvious Thundertusk analogue. The humans looking and living in tribal cultures is just the icing on this "inspiration" cake.
But at the same time, these are very distinct games, at least maybe until that rumoured Horizon MMO is revealed. This is a survival craft'em'up, Horizon games are action RPGs. Yeah, it's like Palworld vs. Pokemon with the whole "yeah just change it up a bit so it doesn't look obvious you copied" meme, except it's unclear if the first "can I copy your homework?" part was ever asked. Could Sony sue? Dunno. Nintendo is suing Palworld on patent infringement, not copyright violation, so it's entirely possible these guys will get away with it.
But that's all for the corporate C-whatevers to decide, I just play games. Personally, my first impression leans on the side of "yuck." If they can't even be bothered to be original with their art style, what else could they not bothered to be original about? At least Palworld had guns. We'll see, but my expectations are low.
I wonder if they could sue for this knockoff. Konami didn’t sue the developers of Vampire Survivors, even though it’s one of the most blatant knockoffs I’ve seen. The gameplay is different, but almost everything else feels ripped straight from Castlevania. It’s borderline an asset flip, except for the music
Not worth going after, IMO. They should instead feel flattered, no better compliment than imitation.
The best revenge is to let it languish in irrelevancy. If the best the game can do is be known as the copycat Horizon, it has no central identity to claim for itself and the market will always associate it with the superior product.
This type of copycatting has been done for thousands of years, not just in gaming. Creators should be flattered that their works are being imitated. At least their works are being recognized, instead of being ignored, by the imitators.

Good take here. I think it's fine for what it is as I'm getting Palworld vibe all over again when it comes to crafting/survival games.
This happens all the time, not sure why its a big deal now.
There are so many games on Steam that area a blatant copy of just about every popular franchise.
Same happens with movies.
It's not illegal to copy unless there's a patent, which is why WB patented the Nemesis system.

The Last Hope comes to mind😂
Now that was a straight up ripoff. Not an Inspiration to what's-so-ever.
@blaznwiipspman1: sure cause we all know Zelda was the first open world action-adventure game...
Sarcasm btw
Horizon plays NOTHING like Zelda nor even has the same artstyle. Wth u on m8?
Also, the video you posted is so f*ckin stupid. Now images of staring at the horizon or riding a horse is ripping off Zelda XD
I guess Ubisoft should sue Nintendo cause in BOTW you climb towers to reveal the map XDDD
/facepalm
@SolidGame_basic: bow and arrow, open world, para gliding, there's so much Sony scammed off botw
This one seems like abit of reach.
The "epic shot" shit is standard gametrailer stuff.
It's got Chinese knock-off written all over it, and people can point fingers at it and critize it but do you think they care one bit? China is a world leader of IP infringement and it makes up a significant part of their GDP. It practically defines them. Their 2022 Beijing Olympics song was ripped off right out of Frozen, they did that on a world stage. Do you still think they care?
@SolidGame_basic: bow and arrow, open world, para gliding, there's so much Sony scammed off botw
shut up. but you might be wrong to a certain degree.......some inspiration is there but overall, it's kinda different. Nice eye tho.........

Vampire survivors has a Castlevania themed dlc pack. I have it. Adds the music and characters as well as a new map. I'm sure Konami isn't unhappy with the folks who made Vampire Survivors being inspired by the Castlevania art style. Lol the games themselves could not be more different....
Just looks like a bad hodgepodge of Monster Hunter (which I don't think is a very good game) and Horizon (which I think was an okay game) and Valheim (which I think is a great game). This one just looks like trash, though, or at least not to my liking.
It's funny that they are doing this. They're also putting the game on the PS5, iOS, and Android.
