WAR : PS2 vs Original xBox

hello gamespot, i didnt know where to put this topic, legacy platforms or here. As it is a war between systems, it goes here... Please state why U think ___ is better.-MuddaFudda-

Anyways, if you asked this question when it was relevant, the overwhelming response in 2003-2005 was clearly Xbox, here at GS.

I think your right asking this question in System Wars because usually every topic that I see about in the Legacy Platforms section is, which old consoles is better are usually locked and told this belongs in SW. But anyways I liked the PS2 better because it had more games, then the Xbox and the fact that many good Multiplatforms such as the GTA series came first on the PS2 and everything. Plus the PS2 made over 140 Million in sales and it keeps going till day and maybe even around 2009 while Microsoft sold less and killed the Xbox in 2006. But I liked the Xbox still and even owned one since it is a good console but the PS2 in my opinion is way better.

I also forgot to add that Power don't make a better console, sure the Xbox was more powerful but the PS2 was still better because of the Library of games that it had.

Xbox was a truly great system and was thouroughly underappreciated by the market as far as sales are concerned.It's first year was lackluster but then the next 3 years were pretty damn good.For anyone who wasnt a PC gamer,it had graphics that just blew you away regardless of what you had played on the PS2.

However it just didnt last enough.I still think MS shouldnt have released the 360 so soon,the xbox had pretty good support and if you look at it's sales,they were at it's best right before the 360 was announced.I think it could have sold about 40 million.

If you only look at the 4 years the xbox was alive then I would actually say that it is better than the PS2.However that just cant work like that obviously.PS2 was released 20 months before the xbox,had plenty of killer games before the xbox hit the market and was alive and kicking when the xbox died.That says quite alot about the system.The PS2 continued to have great games consitently till the release of GOW2.Even now it get's a good game here and there.

Well obviously in the end the PS2 just destroys the xbox in terms of games.

The Xbox didn't even live that long. M$ cancelled it right after Halo 2 came out at Xmas 2004. It was alive 3-3.5 years.

By next Xmas 05 the 360 was out, but the Xbox had been dead for quite some time, not even getting multiplats like Guitar Hero 1.

WHAT? You obviously didn't pay attention to when M$ actually discontinued selling Hardware. I guess you missed the huge drought of games for the entirety of 2005. I guess you didn't go to retail much, and see what was happening in early 2005.

When Farcry cam out, it had been long dead, and Far Cry certainly didn't help it.

a war?? Kind of like the Polish cavalry charging German tanks, maybe...

PS2 has a lot of great games that ill never forget (For example God of War 1 and 2 were awesome games and far better than Ninja Gaiden imo)

but xbox was a great system aswell:

It had the best FPSs (Halo, Halo2, Ridick, Doom3 and HalfLife2)

It had the best WRPGs (Kotor, Kotor2, Fable and Jade Empire)

It had the best racers IMO(PGR, PGR2 and Forza)

And it had the best graphics on every single multiplat!

PS2 is still living so...

Xbox on the other hand, has met Jesus already :P

ps2 was awesome, i loved playing ratchet, sly cooper, kingdomn hearts, it was a great system, but when i got my xbox, ninja gaiden , splinter cell chaos theory, halo 2, crimson skies, xbox was a monster, halo 2 online players know wat im speakin, xbox was a monster.

i liked the ps2 lineup more, but i played it less than my xbox because xbox live sucked me in.

Xbox games I liked

• Ninja Gaiden
• Ninja Gaiden Black (best action game evar!)
• Halo CE
• Halo 2
• Oddworld Strangers Wrath
• KOTOR
• Splinter Cell CT. (not exclusive, but superior enough to make a difference.)

PS2 games I liked

• FFX
• FFXII
• MGS2 (best military stealth game evar!)
• MGS3
• DQ8
• R&C Up Your Arsenal.
• Ico
• Shadow of the Collossus
• I could go on forever about PS2 games...

I would have to say even though Xbox had some gems, the PS2 library trumps it for me. Live is the one defining factor the box really had going for it last gen.

Xbox or PS2... That's a tough one for me.

I first bought a PS2, which was great. Then my cousin talked me into getting an Xbox (which wasn't very popular when they first came out) & quickly became my favourite console. I was hooked on Halo & Jet Set Radio Future at first, then games like KOTOR were insane. I still played my PS2 alot, games like GTA San Andreas were awesome of course on top of the loads of other games out.

So if I had to pick a winner, personally, it would be Xbox. But in terms of industry leader, PS2 easily is the winner.

This is like comparing the Wii to the 360. The PS2 of course.Ragnarok1051
