The untaped power of the PS3 has always been there it just hasn't had a game to tap some of that power. For the people that have been running the F@H on there PS3's has already seen the true power of the cell. The cell can run a single unit in just a few hours where even a PC can take almost 30 days to do the same thing. So now there getting some games that can tap into this power.
What would happen to a 360 if it was asked to do any of these things. The F@H would most likely cause the 360 to go into a melt down.
I bet that room with dozens of running PS3's is quieter then a room with just one 360. If you tried that with 360's the room would burn down or you would go deaf.Blitz_Nemesis
Don't exaggerate. Anyway I am sure Xbox live games with dedicated servers use real servers not 360's. And they are probably alot more cost effective because they use real server CPU's like Opteron's or Xenon's and like 8 gigs of ram instead of 256. One of those is probably the same as 10 PS3's.
This probably works out for Sony though since they have to do somethig nwith all those PS3's sitting around in the warehouses.
Why do the PS3 fanboys keep wondering why 360 owners are paying $50 a year for online play????
Here's the reasons;
1. Great community, and the largest console online gaming community at that
2. All games support voice chat, which is actually used as nearly every 360 owner has a headset (feel sorry for the PS3 owners).
3. The whole XBOX 360/ Live menu system is perfectly intergrated, looks very nice, and is easy to navigate unlike the PS3's ugly looking PSP like interface.
4. Games, got ya here PS3 fanboys, us 360 owners actually have a wealth of games to play online, quality ones at that.
Might as well throw another one in there, the Live store is way better then PS3's Sony store, at least when I want to DL a game demo it DL's correctly, and I can play it right away (have fun installing your demo's PS3 owners).
[QUOTE="Jamani"]Figures they have so many Ps3's to waste.marklarmer
its so they can add it onto the ps3 sales.
LMAO!!! SO TRUE!!! Thats actually smaller than the lot thats sitting on my local best buy collecting dust, MAYBE they should dump those in this lot as well, lol
holy sweet mother of pearl!
can you imagine if those were 360's? fire anyone?
R-Dot-Yung
None of them wouldn't work
The kids trying to troll the PS3 in this thead are pretty pathetic. Finale-
I see more people going off-topic and trolling while taking shots at the 360. :|

I kinda disagree with you at number 1, but not the rest.
how come i dont get lag on xbox live? :?Rob2223It also has to do with connection of the person though, doesn't it? I was playing Strikers today on Wii, and had no lag in most my matches. Only had had the slightest touch of lag today (played about 5 matches.) Yet it wasn't too much a concern, because the game was still playable.

Gears disagree with you.
Nice setup.... but wait. How are they going to maintain those servers? Do we have to pay extra to use them?

Nah itz free. :)

[QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"][QUOTE="Ragashahs"]if it's lag free as it says it should be then it'll be worth the 40 dollarsRagashahsjust because it's lag-free? :?
Holy garbage, thats awesome. Why am I paying for XBL?Teufelhuhnwe're paying for the magic unicorns. don't ask; just trust.
WarHawk is going to be one of the most fun online games this generation, I can't wait to play it.0bscuritysay what? have you played it before? if you had, you wouldn't make such a irrational statement. How can it be one of the best of the generation? maybe the best this month...and it just about ends there.

so...anyone think Microsoft will take note and think about hosting at least SOME games? or is it really unnecessary?Dreams-Visions
Who knows? I personally rarely, if ever get lag on XBL or my PC. Maybe I'm just lucky?
[QUOTE="ski11buzz"][QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"][QUOTE="killaj2786"]I tthink warhawk would sell...if it wasnt in direct competition wit tiger wood, blue dragon, stranglehold, stuntman ignition, dynasty warriors gundam, and whatever sales are left from bioshock the week after release.
Dreams-Visions
I don't think it will sell much at all. It's kinda niche...kinda hard to pick up...kinda not super fun. Wrong time of year for that kind of release. April/May/June would have been a much safer bet for this game. But the Fall? When the heavy-hitters come out? Gotta be a nightmare scenario for the developers. This game will be overshadowed.
I wonder how many sales we can expect.
the game comes out this month. last time i checked august was summer
you know what I mean. you don't need me to hold your hand.
actually i think that warhawk can be a sleeper hit, because it's not heavily hyped like lair and heavenly sword and do remember that the ps3 is starved for games and alot of people liked the warhawk beta and it's only 40 bucks (60 bucks with a bluetooth headset and the blu-ray disk edition) and this is the 1st ps3 exclusive game to hit us ps3 fans this fall. So i have to say that i totally disagree with your statement[QUOTE="Puppa_Shogun"]You sir speak the truth.[QUOTE="Jamani"][QUOTE="redandblack23"]well i knew they were going to do something to prevent lagg because this is an online only game we're talking about here..Dreams-Visions
RFOM is also lag free and its not online only.
RFOM is not lag free. There isn't a lot of lag, but there is lag.
there no lag because not alot of people are playing it. lolFigures they have so many Ps3's to waste.Jamani
hmmmmm.
You realize that 360 is being outsold by PS3 month by month worldwide now right? So you can't really talk.
so...anyone think Microsoft will take note and think about hosting at least SOME games? or is it really unnecessary?Dreams-Visions
They need every penny of that 50 a year dude... they have to make up for thier losses somehow, maybe someday they will actually make a profit from thier gaming division :o.
I for one have faith in whoever thought up the carnie-like tactic of using gamerpoints instead of real dollars so there are points leftover after every purchase making you feel like you have to buy something else so the points don't just sit there, think of something else like that MS!!
[QUOTE="Dylan Jobe_Game Director_Warhawk"]As I mentioned in my last post, I wanted to give you guys a bit of a "peek-behind-the-curtain," to show you our sweet Warhawk server setup.
Those of you familiar with Warhawk already know that the game features a very unique server method that we call "Integrated Game Server" or IGS for short -- the industry needs more acronyms don't you think
The Warhawk IGS method means that instead of us forcing players to be connected to the SONY "mothership" for any and all games, we instead let players host their own servers on their own PS3s. This is fairly unique and it enables a couple of really nice benefits.
First, since Warhawk is a global online game, our IGS method scatters game servers quite literally into player's homes all over the planet -- the US, China, Europe, Australia, and Japan! No matter where you live, what time you want to play, or what language you speak, you'll always be able to get your game on.
Secondly, this helps with latency. If you haven't heard, Warhawk is a fast game, a very fast game, so we wanted to ensure you had the best chance of finding servers with good ping times. We also wanted to make sure people could host *and* play on their own servers. After all, why should you have to connect to a server a gazillion hops away when you know that there are Warhawk servers running in your state or city? Possibly on your same ISP? Maybe even friends in your neighborhood or buddies in your dorm?
Hence our desire to develop an IGS system for Warhawk.
All that said, we still want to make sure that there are always an abundance of wicked-fast Ranked Dedicated servers available for players. The images that accompany this post were taken by our very talented IT team here at SCEA. And yes, what you're looking at is an enormous server cluster for Warhawk...of rack-mounted PS3s!
During the public beta, many of you wanted *way more* Ranked-Dedicated servers to play on so you could level-up and earn awards, rank upgrades, etc...
Well...ask and ye shall receive!
In addition to players being able to host their own servers, 32-player "dedicated" servers for your clan practices or 24-player "player" servers, SONY has made a great commitment to all of our Warhawk players by staging Warhawk Server clusters similar to this one all over the world.
The system that our IT team engineered for Warhawk is truly killer and we couldn't be happier with the setup -- and hopefully players will be stoked too once the game launches. Just for the record...I am fairly confident that our IT team is not comprised of Autobots.
For those of you who participated in the beta, you may remember toward the end that some players started to "spoof" the official SONY server names -- shame on you. I will find you all online and shank you repeatedly or snipe you in the crotch!
So...in the beta forums you all asked for a way to identify official SONY servers from player servers...Again, your wish is granted.
When Warhawk launches, all official servers are displayed with an eye-pleasing blue color in the server list. This gives players a really quick way of picking which server they want to connect to.
Alright, this post is getting pretty damn long so I gotta wrap it up.
The last thing I want to mention, and those of you who participated in the beta already know this, is that we don't force game match-making on to our players with Warhawk. When you log-in to Warhawk, you get a server list...a *global* server list (with customizable filters of course), just like many of us have come to love from years of PC gaming. *You*, the player, get to choose the server you want to play on. If you don't see a server out there that has exactly what you want...then launch your own.
And yes, you can play on your own server too...even in 4-way split screen.
Well...hope this gives you a bit more info on Warhawk's server system and setup. If you have any questions please post them in the comments and I'll try to answer as many as I can.
Rock on!Dreams-Visions
That's how lag-free online multiplayer is done, boys. And that's how you give the people what they want. 8)
No, I still think the game will only get an 8.0 or a 7.5. But the quality of the multiplayer is unquestioned.
Microsoft: please take notes.
Nintendo! Eh...why even bother asking. :?
so thats why ps3 sold in july. not because of the price drop. because they bought out their own systems. LMAOPlease Log In to post.
