Hello friends

So watching this video it makes me realized that how much I missed RE7. Village does follow RE7 formula but manage to make it worse than 7 in every single way. for start RE7 is horror game. Village is action game. although both games have bad combat but RE7 saved by its creepy atmosphere and horror elements which Village couldnot.

having action variety, weapon variety, enemy variety means shit when combat is bad. RE7 focus more on scares, dark atmosphere and even having better puzzles too.

The opening of Village suck but opening and first impression of RE7 was great. the introduction of Baker family and they being far better villains than RE8 villains.

some part of village I like which took good things from 7 but part which took from RE4 is badly done. and not to mention its utterly scripted.

so my friends, was RE7 better than Village? or is Village better game? lets discuss.

Village is a mediocre 5/10 video game. RE5 was more enjoyable than RE8, and RE5 wasn't good to begin with.

RE7 is not even worth playing.

They better abandon this cinematic experience in first person. RE1, RE2 and RE4 are the true RE games.

Village is 7/10 decent game. has some moments but RE7 is easily 9/10 game due to being best RE game of all time.

if village was third person it would be even worse (cough RE6 cough).

Village is better but 1st person RE is lame and inferior to 3rd person RE in general. Hopefully they abandon it for future installments.

1st person works in RE7. Village is first person but have more third person elements ie cinematic action.

remember RE6 was third person. the worst in series.

As a horror game, sure. Overall game, I give it to Village. Better weapons, combat, more enemy variety, more locations, etc.

RE2R shits on both tho.

RE6 is a 2/10 game. RE8 is much worse than a decent 7/10 game. It offered nothing but a good art direction in the first portion of the game. RE7 is an Outlast wannabe, not a RE game.

I like both to be honest, I grow to like Ethan Winters as a nobody character who doesn't have special force training for once in the RE series, the whole first-person-view really gives off the immersion when its mix with horror elements and boy, I got a load out of the Doll House in Village. RE7 was good but limited freedom but Village expanse more freedom to roam. Village is just superior and RE7 does takes its time to build up.

Village>>>>Biohazard.

Not sure, but RE2 remake was better than both. Game got pretty boring after starting an NG+ game.

I'm probably one of the few that thinks RE8 is hot garbage. They decided to mash up RE7 and RE4 and gave us something which failed to capture the best parts of either. Instead, we're left with sh*t gunplay, bullet sponge enemies, an incomprehensible story, and laughably bad dialogue (even for an RE game). At this point the creators probably throw sh*t at a wall and then say 'Mold' as a reason they can tie together each sh*t section they come up with.

"How about vampires and werewolves???"
"Is that going to work in the RE universe?"
"....Mold.....we'll say it's the mold...."

The only shining moment was the one actual 'horror' level with no weapons. The entire second half of the game is almost unplayable. The swamp is unforgettable, short, and a poor mans Fishing Hamlet, and the Heisenberg level is a slog due to the incorporation of the worst enemies in the game.

For this very reason RE7 is better. It succeeded, if not only marginally, at being a somewhat enjoyable horror game.

39-4. Still, another Ghost thread that doesn't make me laugh. Two out of two. Well done, I suppose.

RE8 right from the outset looked like they tried to mash together RE4 and RE7. The problem is those two games are best remembered for two very different things; RE4 was a campy self-aware action romp, while RE7 was like Texas Chainsaw Massacre with invincible mould people. You try to mash them together, neither are going to be bringing their A-game.

I said before that I didn't think that was right direction for the game. Various reviews, including from the one guy trust to review horror games (because he has broadly the same taste in horror games as me), seem to confirm my suspicion.

RE is clearly having an identity crisis. I've played them all except 8 yet and that's because I'm waiting for RE:VERSE to release. I think Capcom just doesn't know what to do. Most people aren't digging the first person mode and following some new story with Ethan. If you keep buying these oddball games, they'll keep making them. They need to keep remaking the classic ones. Capcom is also desperate to find an online formula that works so they can sell skins and such. Umbrella Corp didn't work. Resistance didn't work. Now they'll try RE:VERSE which should have been Resistance from the beginning. No one wants to play as a bunch of unknown kids who have no connection to RE.

RE7 was better. I already forgot that I bought and played Village.

Village can be summed up a a poor first person version of RE4.

Look at this creepy atmosphere. Village doesnot even have 1/4th of atmospheric RE7 was.

village take place in daylight snowy enviroment with horde of bulletsponges monster and gone full action game but also badly done.

RE7 is even less scripted and cutscene oriented than Village. only exploring castle remind me of RE7 but its not even as good as exploring old house and new house of baker family.

What the hell capcom did??? instead of evolving RE7 formula. they feel like they take huge step backward.

Not particularly fond of any of them. Wish they would move away from the cinematic crap. Taking control away from the player always feels worse in FPS games. If this is what RE in first person is, I can't wait for them to go back to 3rd person.

You and your movie games, Ghosts.

RE7 was only cinematic in begining but you then explore entire old house new house with few and far cutscenes.

RE village is third person game played from first person prespective.

RE8 was so barebones that they didn't even bothered giving you a storage box. Oversimplified garbage.

Doesn't Capcom see that RE2R was extremely well received by gamers and journos? Why the f are they following the same formula? Just make it at least as long as RE4, have more weapons with modifications and a bit more enemies variety (even tho killing normal zombies didn't get old in RE2R for me)

again these things can be done very well in first person and very bad in third person its thier choice to make game cinematic or not.

RE6 being third person was most cinematic game in series. 7 actually bring back to horror roots and 8 once again cinematic action game.

out of all third person RE games. RE2 remake is best by far. I actually put it far above RE4 in every way.

You keep talking about RE6 like that trash game is what represents third person in a RE game.

RE7 had a good atmosphere, but what good is that atmosphere when the only thing you're doing for more than half of the game is running away from the family? Then, by 2/3rd of the game, you're fighting the same black blobs. I am sorry but this is just poor design for a RE game. Make the house part much bigger and delete the boat section completely. Add a bunch of zombies all over the game, and i would've liked RE7 so much more. Instead, you're shooting at the invulnerable family for half of the game, and then shoot the same copy/pasted looking black blobs until the end of the game. It just couldn't get any worse when it comes to "fun" in a video game.

Anyone remember when Capcom had more than Resident Evil? Dino Crisis, Onimusha, etc? All they have left is Resident Evil and it's some watered down first person shooter version of it.

They're both equally good for different reasons. Everyone that says 7 is just better needs to play it again after playing 8. 8 has a lot of improvements.

Yeah, that was cool. But they also have Street Fighter. It's still good, but now they sell it in parts so they can get 1000 dollars for the full game instead of 60.

Seriously though, today's Capcom is good for one reason only: Monster Hunter. The rest of their current shit is just that- shit.

You hit the nail on the head, I was not impressed with RE8 at all, it essentially turned into Call of Duty towards the end.

Even the developers are on record saying they didn't want to make RE8 as scary as RE7.........so it all boils down to is RE as a franchise a Horror game or action game? They keep going back and forth and sometimes it works, like RE4, but when it misses the mark it misses bad

Alyx was in reality a more effective Resident Evil game. Albeit far too easy lacking a much needed NG+

Village should have been great but they dropped the ball big time.

bad decision to go full on action when they cant make a good gameplay and combat mechanics. plus the constant scripted cutscenes over and over and walking in straight line.

Chernobylite should be much better game as it releasing in few days.
