Yeah, thats why MS has more AAAE than Sony... right.
Truth is, all consoles are good. I really hate console bashing
Ok, heres how I see it.
Sega had amazing 1 party, but like said above, marketing was at the wrong time.
Microsoft: MS has had ups and big downs, but through it all, they always manage to give the 360 a fresh image with new games. I won't lie, the 360's library is very impressive.
Sony: When the ps2 was in it's high, Sony was a beast. They did everything right. Now, to current times. I'm not going to lie and say to me they are doing the best, but they are doing alright. I just wish there was a new game I could get like every month, but since MGS4, I got Tales of Vesperia.
All in all, MS is probably delivering the most to it's fans, Sony is kick butt, but now kick a$$ like the ps2, and Sega followed Atari into being a developer whose great games are limited.

if he is talking about companies they have bought then yes they do

im saying sonys internal dev studios have churned out many many more quality games last gen and are looking to do so this gen.
their other independent first party devs are also coming out with great games, ratchet and clank, resistence, killzone 2, motorstorm, etc etc

It doesn't matter if it's a first party exclusive or a third party exclusive. An exclusive is an exclusive. Also, are you kidding about Sony having the most first party exclusives(I can only think of 4) and Microsoft make A LOT LOT more first party games than Sony.

Second party.
Nope, all three games are first party. Bungie made Halo when they were still owned by Microsoft.
First Party Software: Nintendo > Sony > Sega > Microsoft
I'm talking about Sega back when they were a console developer. Now, they are just awful.

That, and MS owns Turn 10, who made Forza 2, so thats 1st party as well.2nd party is Insomniac or Naughty Dog or now, Bungie, who arent wholly owned by Sony/MS, but still have long term exclusivity contracts.

Way I see it, it's:
Nintendo>>>>>Sony>Sega>MS
Sega was great, but if they were better than MS or Sony, they would've survived last gen's console war. Sony comes in second because even if their 1st party games aren't as memorable, they're consistently good. As for MS, their 1st party barely exists but they do make up in 3rd party.

Sony first party kills Nintendo? Nintendo? Do you mean in your opinion Sony's 1st party games are better (if that's your opinion, I have no problem with that)? Because Nintendo's 1st party is not only consistently filled with some of the most popular games on the planet, but it's also filled with some of the most instantly recognizable characters in all of entertainment. Nintendo's Mario franchises alone dominate Sony's first party. It's not even a contest; the reason Nintendo is even still around is because it has survived the last couple generations based on the dominant strength of its 1st party games. People buy Sony/MS consoles for games; people buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games.
Sega made the mistake of coming out with a system that wasnt gonna compete against the big 3,
so, since the money is in software and not hardware they did what ms should do and just make games!
In terms of 1st party software. Nintendo beats them all ofcourse.Tony-Baxter
SEGA was fantastic, but the Sony of today could easily take them. SEGA were masters of Arcade games, well their name is all about that, SErvice GAmes, as they were used for soliders on shoreleave years ago.
Some of their games were fantastic console games, but when the DC hit, they seemed to have more ARCADE titles than true console titles. Of course, games like Shenmue (not completed) were console affairs.
SONY is underappreciated, ESPECIALLY IN SW, but there are a fantastic 1st party developer.
Nintendo is first, yes, but lately I'm starting to feel differently, as they seem to be coasting on REPUTATION vs. actuall kick arse games.

As someone who has been gaming since the near begining....no just no. I thought that the virtual console would tell people how "great" these SEGA games really were. Though I do agree that their arcade games were nothing to sneeze about.
Yes, by a wide margin. Almost all of Sega's games were awesome before they went third party. You could pick up any game with the Sega logo on it on in my opinion 99% of the time it was an enjoyable game. Sony is just...boring outside of a few specific games. They do come up with plenty of interesting ideas for games, but a lot of times they just end up being boring. The ideas are there but the teams making the games seem to struggle with the quality. Microsoft is the opposite, they do make some good quality games for what they are but the game themselves....generic racer X, generic shooter X. Not very exciting. Sega had good ideas and excellent quality. It's too bad they went downhill since they went third party :(-Xeno-
SEGA to me went downhill once the Dreamcast hit. I mean essentially the Dreamcast SEGA on a console face was nothing more then Smilebit and Shenmue, outside of that it was just arcade titles or games that were praised to be good but just weren't. Just look at when the Sonic Adventure games, Space Channel games, and their other games were ported and enhanced ported to other platforms. They got and some still get treated like God but once they get released on other platforms people don't care and they usually get meh reviews both by critics and fans.
Obviously this was due to SEGA losing many of their key developers after the Saturn shot down. Lots of key developers both SEGA dealed and regular third party publishers left SEGA after they literally did a repeat of what they did in the US. Basically they didn't tell developers about the Dreamcast in a decent time interval. There are many more things that happened during that time but I want to keep this post short.
Anyway while I've always liked SEGA's "****" persay their consoles were always missing something. Yes the Mega-Drive had the "adult" theme to it and fun games. Though its lack in power was very disturbing and let's face it what games did it have as "epic" and "spit polished" as say Chrono Trigger, Donkey Kong Country, Secret of Mana, Super Mario World, and the likes. All I can think of is MUSHA Aleste, Gunstar Heroes, Snatcher, Sonic III and well that's it. The Saturn while it was "the last traditional console" really wasn't worthy of being its finally. The majority of the games were arcadic and overall again the lack of huge epics. The Nintendo 64 had Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Banjo Kazooie, and Goldeneye for example, the Playstation had Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, and Symphony of the Night as well as an example. The Saturn had Guardian Heroes, Radiant Silvergun, and Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner II, and that was all that impressed me. That was the Saturn's biggest flaw there were very few games that had my jaw dropped as well as games that really pushed 2D. It definately wasn't a bad console it was pretty good, but I see it much like how Nintendo fans treat the Nintendo 64, overall it definately had its moments but is nowhere as good as people make it out to be. Not to mention that many of the games share "SEGA syndrome".

Total 1st Party AAA Games
Genres Represented in first party AAA

How can you possibly say that Nintedo 1st party is non existent? It has the most variety, tied for the most titles and it has the highest rated 1st party titles.
