NO. Uncharted 2 is. This entire Gen went crazy and turned based on Uncharted 2. We'd never seen anything like it.

Innovation? I think the term your looking for is "Game mechanic" Texas Chainsaw Massacre beat gears to the punch on chainsawing dudes by many years.

Innovation? Nah. The game itself was innovative though. Was it badass? Hell yeah it was and still is.

The coolest innovation this gen?  Depends if we are talking items.  items wise I would say portal gun with all the mechanics from Portal 2.  Otherwise there is also destruction in BF (not as much in 3), parkour from Mirrors edge and Uncharted, and more.

I wouldn't call Uncharted wall climbing innovative; other games have done stuff like that before.

Please describe.  I have never seen it done like that to my reccolection.  They made the world far more vertcial and dodging and cover far more useful and dynamic.

That was cool, but I actually really liked the active reloading in that game. It made everything have a rhythm to it.

Well, Tomb Raider for one. Uncharted simply refined it, they didn't invent it--which is basically the definition of innovation.

Tomb Raider as far as climbing and you can even add the entire idea of Uncharted. I am not saying Uncharted is a bad game in anyway but to say it is innovative is crazy. Hell the topic is about Gears and ND even said they were influenced by Gears of War. Also Tomb Raider did not even invent the climbing.

I hardly played the old TR games, so I am not the best judge, but I guess what I feel is so innovative about Uncharted is not that there is climbing, but the use of it in multiplayer.  There is so many uses for it and it changes the maps and the way you play.  If you are not using the climbing/parkour in many ways in MP you are doing it wrong.

Again I didn't play much TR, but I don't believe they had the same degree of parkour and any MP aspect.

Battlefields destruction is not innovative, it's just scripted crap. If you watn real inovation play Red Faction from 2001, it has actual real time deastruction and it's way betetr than in any Battlefield game. The best destruction ever has Red Faction Guerrilla.

DJ-Lafleur

Splatterhouse

Evil Dead a Fist Full of Boomstick

Lollipop Chainsaw

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Atari 2600)

Time Killer

Dead Island

Quake

Doom

Grand Theft Auto

I could probably keep going if I thought hard enough... :P however, no I agree it isn't innovative. Although it is by far the coolest thing in the series.

scripted or no, it enhanced gameplay in multiplayer.  Red Factions may be technically more impressive and interesting to watch, but it doesn't achieve the same thing BF destruction does.  BF4 seems to be doing it very nicely this time though.

On topic - the chinsaw in GOW 1 is crap and buggy as hell, I don't get where the innovation is.

PC/PS3 hass the most innovative games. Just look at GMOD, Portal, Little Big Planet, Uncharted 2 and many more.

Hell, Wii Fit is more innovative than anything on the Xbox 360. The only real innovation was Halol on the old Xbox, since then, nothing.

Actually, the 360 pioneered the digital market on consoles, and tons of innovative arcade games came from that.

And mass effect, btw.  Just evening out the dogmatism, bud.
