Was the Xbox One X A failure and a very bad buy for consumers?

The system launched November 7, 2017 for 500 dollars.

It's had some very mediocre games as far exclusives built from the ground up for the system its not even been out what 2.5 years and its already discontinued.

The failures of this system don't stop there, people are worried that they won't get the "next" fable on xbox one eco system including the X.

Some of the games said X-Series / PC only and didn't list xbox one or the xbox one x.

Here are some of those games that might not be on the xbox one x.

Are any xbox one x owners on here concerned about the future of your system? Was it the worth the 500 dollars? Did you get exclusives built for it. Did you get a long enough time frame with the system and future games?

I mean it seems like a bit of failure of a system to me wasn't out long enough, not enough games, was very high priced.

With the PS4 Pro you got exclusives after exclusive, back to back to back. You got an extra year out of it since it came out a year earlier.

It was cheaper too. So I see some value in the pro that I don't see with xbox one x.

Bought both the Pro and the X. The Pro I actually regret buying. The X is a great piece of hardware.

Yeah it was a flop. Anything that gets canned after 2.5 years is a flop. PS4 pro was flop IMO too. I hate mid February upgrades, just wait until next gen.

But with the pro you could play Spiderman, Last of Us 2, Ghosts of Tsushima, Day's Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War.

You got boost mode on older games like Bloodborne.

Theres some value there. I'm not seeing the same on xbox one x. I can keep going I didn't even list all the exclusives here runnin on the pro, you want me to keep going?

Bro I've been consistently anti-MS since 2014 when Halo MCC got a 6/10 after that I hopped off xbox one train and never looked back.

A console upgrade that wasn't really needed, expensive, got canned after 2 years, and didn't really make sense or have a killer app that really needed the hardware that you were sold

I pleased i didn't invest 500 in one nearly pulled the trigger a couple of times.

whew, that was close just buy ps5 or something with that 500 dollars much better value.

I almost forgot I own a PS4. The better console my Xbox one X gets all the use.

Last year I bought the Gears 5 One X, and it's a great system that I play my multiplats on. Runs much quieter and games play smoother than my Pro.

Xbox Live is much better than Playstation Plus as far as reliability and speed. Games like Rocket League, Battlefield V, Destiny 2, Monster Hunter World Iceborne, Fallout 76 and The Division 2 all look and run better on X as well. Then there's 4k Blu Ray.

Just a much better designed system than PS4 Pro.

Bro wtf I couldn't find a match on rocket league ranked on my xbox one late at night, but i instantly find em on PS4 there more users on ps4 and more playlists popping on there. Users is King for multiplayer. Also what multiplats hit the xbox one x that were good like FF7 Remake was only ps4 an the pro an stuff.

Nah you're full of it. Matches happen in seconds on both systems, even Switch with RL. You must just have a shit online.

Not on Ranked late at night when I game. IT was a really bad wait on xbox one you must be playing on casual playlists.

I'm still watching dvd's on my reg PS4 and chillin to them I don't need 4k to be happy.

Some of them were on Game Pass, others I picked up real cheap. I did this because I have different groups of people I game with, and some are on one system, some the other.

But yeah, you're right, both services are very similar.

I have a few UHD Blu Ray movies, but most of my collection is either Blu Ray or DVD. I also stream most of my 4K content. Still, it's a good thing to have because the res and clarity of UHD is visually astounding.

@ProtossRushX: Performance increase of Pro Vs X is not in the same league. X does a vastly better job, both on current gen and previous gen games. The X is not only more powerful by a large margin but it is better engineered also. My Pro is so loud that playing without headphones is out of the question. I hate that, particularly in the summer. It really is the only console I regret buying, ever.

It's nice to have the exclusives performing slightly better. But exclusives are like 1 or 2 games a year, while multiplat naturaly perform better on the X . I rather have kept my original PS4 tbh.

Xbox One X was the premium SKU of the Xbox One. It inherited the market issues that Xbox One had.

Best of gen graphics, 4k UHD, whisper quiet, great online, Gamepass, gorgeous aesthetics ...... best console of this gen. Ps4 pro was such a flop Sony is stopping making games for it same day as ps5 comes out.

Microsoft would've probably been in a worse position without the 1X but who knows if they should've just stuck with spending more on game projects instead of spending r&d on the 1X.

Who knows how much PR boost they got by winning most comparison videos for 3rd party games but for sure it wasn't enough to turn the tide.

Since a lot of generations aren't won by power as some say. MS probably wasn't confident with their own studios to carry xbox one without a mid gen refresh.

I'm also not sure if MS was blindsided by the Pro. 1 year too late with microsoft/amd.

Remains the most powahful console on the planet playing games at their finest. :P

At least until SuperMighty XSX MonsterBox launches. :D

I notice that this is a sore point for lems. They got grifted, straight up. And Microsoft doesn't give a single **** because they know their fans will still fight for them tooth and nail. Xbox has got them well trained because they argue for their right to be abused.

These same assholes will turn right around and buy the next box from them that MS will drop in two years at the first sign of poor sales. Xbox is all hardware and no games.

one x was the best console last gen it just came out to late in the game. they should of made it the series s with a ssd and new cpu not jaguar cpu. then it would of played even series x games coming in 2022.

To be fair it was a well made system that just wasn't supported enough with first party games.

I have gotten a ton of entertainment out of my Xbox One X. Online is great and I never have any issues with my system. I have got my moneys worth out of the system and can't wait to donate it to someone when I get my Series X. Gamepass is the best value in gaming and I am glad I upped my membership with discounts for the next 3 years.

Oh coming from a huge huge huge cow this means..........nothing. Why would anyone regret purchasing an X1X? All the games for the X1 will work and they're not going to stop making games for a while. It was for games to run and perform better and it accomplished just that. The sales difference wasn't going to shrink but it did provide those that wanted a better performing console.

So my point is why do you even care if they stopped making the X1X since it'll continue to run all the same games as the X1S with better performance? I mean it makes absolute sense why they'd discontinue it except of course for cows. Your blind hate prohibits from you thinking logically.

stalker 2 is not a launch title it got delayed until 2022. the year 2022 will be xbox year.

see the ps4 had the power at first was just a bonus. after that the games just kept flooded in. were xbox relied on making new consoles to make third party games look better. it does not matter if third party games look slightly better. its the amount of games you can choose from and sony had more.

no company can rely on third party and win. its the first party games that does the talking and drive sales.

why did xbox buy all those studios? because third party games never win a gen.

What does that have to do with what I said? PS4 was more powerful at launch and cows made sure everyone knew it for years...until the X1X launched. Then it didn't matter. Your post has nothing to do with what I said

no it was not the one x it was the xbox s that was released in November 2013 that was more powerful than the original ps4. the pro didn't come until 2016.

To be honest i was surprised to hear about its discontinuation, i thought that it will be last to since they (Microsoft) were so proud of it.

@gifford38: The S was NOT more powerful than the PS4. It had a UDH player and maybe slightly higher clock I believe but it was still weaker. Please get your facts straight

The Xbox One X itself wasn't the fail, it was Microsoft's lack of exclusives that failed the console. From what I've seen, history is about to repeat itself

if xbox had better games this gen that beat sony first party even being weaker do you think xbox would of won this gen? yes or would of been much closer.

ps3 had bad ports and in the end the ps3 won. you know why because of the games not that the fact third party games was worse. in fact the weakest one won the wii. if sony did not have the games to back up the ps3 the 360 would of won by a land slide.

same with the ps2 it was weaker than the xbox and still sold 150 consoles. because of games

games is what wins generations not power or relying on third party games looking better.

ps4 just had all three at first power, better third party, and better exclusive games.

this is how they got 120 million sold while xbox 40 million sold.

next gen sony will have the games and have better looking exclusives at first.

xbox if the games that are coming in 2022 are up to sony level exclusives we will see a closer number in sales because of the games not power.

Power never matters because power never, EVER won a generation. It's a nice bonus to have, but it doesn't mean anything without the software to back it up. It's great to have better performing games, and that's what the mid-gen refreshes were for. But Xbox never really truly pushed why you needed another $500 box from them when the old one had trouble selling for the same reasons.

Then MS went and started blowing smoke up people's asses telling them these consoles would be supported with software for two years into the Series console life cycle. And then the game conference left them with a nasty surprise. You're the ones that should be caring about a bad precedent being set.
