Was there ever PS1, N64 or Dreamcast fanboys?

I owned all three consoles when i was about 7 or 8, but due to the increasining levels of fanboy-ness i ask myself: did the same thing happen about 10 years ago?

Yes it did, also, Dreamcast was 6th gen, not 5th gen.

Um yes. It happened mre. the Sega vs Nintendo (mario vs sonic) fanboy worse were absolutly terrible. the only reason it seems worse now is that you've aged a bit and have a greater understanding og games.

Dreamcast was the next gen after that anyway I was with the 64 because I loved the SNES

When I was a kid I was one of the first people in town to get the original NES. When I found out a friend of mine got a Sega Master System I didn't trash him, degrade him, or try to make him believe his purchase was crappy and give him an animal name. I simply went to his house and played games on it and enjoyed myself. Somewhere along the way people began to emotionally invest themselves into their video game systems. Odd to say the least.

Based on these facts, can we prevent fanboy-ism or make fanboys come to their senses a bit?

i was a N64 fanboy back in the day but i do remember my first time playing Tomb Raider i thought it looked like a movie and wished N64 had games like that. i was not on the net at the time(mid 90's)but my friends and myself would have talks about what system was the best much like what goes on here

I was an N64 fanboy. I refused to buy a PS1 because I thought it was for nubs ^_^
