I owned all three consoles when i was about 7 or 8, but due to the increasining levels of fanboy-ness i ask myself: did the same thing happen about 10 years ago?
Um yes. It happened mre. the Sega vs Nintendo (mario vs sonic) fanboy worse were absolutly terrible. the only reason it seems worse now is that you've aged a bit and have a greater understanding og games.
When I was a kid I was one of the first people in town to get the original NES. When I found out a friend of mine got a Sega Master System I didn't trash him, degrade him, or try to make him believe his purchase was crappy and give him an animal name. I simply went to his house and played games on it and enjoyed myself. Somewhere along the way people began to emotionally invest themselves into their video game systems. Odd to say the least.
i was a N64 fanboy back in the day but i do remember my first time playing Tomb Raider i thought it looked like a movie and wished N64 had games like that. i was not on the net at the time(mid 90's)but my friends and myself would have talks about what system was the best much like what goes on here
