Was this just a tech demo?

Ok this is MGS4 from TGS 05 and seriously it looks way better than the MGS4 we have now, I mean the first person actually looks good, and the way the trash and dust flys in the air looks amazing, also snake looked way more detailed, and his hair looked better grey instead of the white it is now, WTF happened?

Why did the First person look so much better in 05? Also did you guys notice all the stuff flying threw the air, it made it feel more realistic, also the animations looked smoother.3verlastingHero

it mainly looks sharper, better textures and looks like its running at at least 60fps. it was either cgi or they downgraded the game.

yeah probably. lets not forget this was also the time when all the ps3 games shown off were lies. motorstorm, 8 days, kz2. and probably this. there is so much more detail on snake like the textures on his suit. the people that dont notice its just cuz its a low quality youtube video. i remember the same trailer on g4 at e3:05 on my 50in, 1080p and it was much more impressive than it is now

I'm not Sure but this adds further questions

I think either they were developing MG4 without knowing the specs or they realised they couldn't make the whole game that way and decided to scale down the levels. But then again we wont know until june 12.

Keep in mind I'm only guessing.

edit: actually they did say it was an early version of the game and if so its been improved on after 3 years.

no as i said in another post i saw this trailer on g4 at e3:05. it looked way better on a real 1080p hd tv

I remember reading that Snakes mustache alone would have more polygons than the entire model of snake in MGS3. Is that still the case or was it more Sony dribble?GazzaB

it's possible they downgraded the graphics since the tech demo where they said that (way before this TGS trailer.)

doesnt matter. kz2 isnt developed by sony in house, neither were a lot of the games that were cgi pre rendered at e3 05. i was on board for ps3 until i learned most of those videos were fake. this being one of them. the game has been downgraded slightly...just slightly, little bit on teh textures and detail of things

That was different as it wasnt CGI like most of the stuff Sony showed at that E3. The Halo 3 announcement trailer was In-engine and Bungie clearly stated that. They also said clearly in the documentary of the trailer that the trailer showed the bar they were shooting for in final gameplay.

Doesn't look that bad to me, this one is from CES 2008(of course gameplay).
