Was this the greatest ownage in video game history?

This was Sony being super confident in themselves and knowing when they were right. It was also the beginning of MS's huge fumble. I can't think of greater ownage than that. Do you think MS has recovered since then with the DRM policy reversal and price drop?

I can think of FFXIII coming to Xbox and E3 '95's "$299" but they're nowhere near the same scale. Sony's self-ownage of E3 2006 is; that goddamn circus was a masterclass in how to piss away a decade of dominance in 1 night and they deserved all the loathing and mocking for it they got.

There's no more direct or devastating ownage of one console manufacturer by another than E3 2013. Sony completely ruining MSFT's gameplan for gen 8 in front of the gaming world was a classic E3 moment.

With Dipshit Don gone and rotting in Zynga they're recovering well enough.

None of that stuff is.

Nintendo is set to unveil a Super Nintendo CD add-on. Sony and company is ready to unveil with Nintendo. Nintendo cancels without telling Sony. Sony turns this into Playstation. Playstation overtakes Nintendo as the top selling game console.

You can chart the 360's downfall directly coming from Mattrick's tenure as the head. He flat out sucked. You can see MS's policy changes occurring as soon as he left.

Yes. It was crazy how SONY humiliated MS then knocked them the **** out. It was a drop the mic moment that will be talked about for years to come and consulted on how not to release a product.

It was the day Sony owned MS and saved the gaming industry :D. If MS did what Sony did, maybe X1 would be the best console for this generation and maybe most people would want the X1 and not the PS4, but PS4 had everything everyone wanted from games, no kinect, better resolution/graphics and so on. Most of my friends where 360 fans, but after MS screwed up with the X1, everyone went to the PS4 and still love the PS4 to this very day. Only a few got the X1 and all i can say is that they are screwing themselves to find out you will be able to by an X1 for 100 less without the godawful kinect. I'm not sure if they will sell the X1 and just go to the PS4 like the rest of us. Either way, MS did the right thing for doing the 180

Everyone was expecting M$ to run away with E3. They were in the better financial position and coming off the rather successful 360. They could have easily finished Sony and Ninetendo combined then they foolishly revealed DRM allowing Sony to basically walk all over them and look like the heroes while doing it.

The weeks and months that followed that E3 2013 destruction were full of tons of damage control and reversals of policies. Xbone is officially the quickest reversal in videogame history and they are still reeling from the E3 2013 damage to this day. Every NPD update that comes out with PS4 pulling ahead while Xbone struggles to remain relevant is proof of this.

Looking back, not really. Sony's message was basically "we're not Microsoft." If you analyzed Sony's conference in a vaccuum, without comparing it to Microsoft's, there was nothing spectacular shown--apart from FFXV or KH3, I guess, but those are confirmed multiplats.

Yup. It totally was. Last year's E3 was a wipeout, MS handed Gen 8 to Sony. Only reason MS won December was Sony (and AMD) couldn't build enough PS4's to satisfy WORLDWIDE demand. What were those parents gonna do, but their offspring WiiU's? Like some 3rd world country? Don't feel too bad, they'll have to buy PS4's (or PC GFX cards) soon enough.

Ah well, at least the dumbasses that let the XBox fall from glory are long gone. The XBox's strongest selling points have always been the beefier GPU and solid first party shooter lineup, and the XB1 has neither. Instead, somebody thought it would be a good idea to chase the casual crowd with Kinect right as casuals were moving to tablet and phone gaming. The move just didn't make any sense..

Kinect is useless for 99% of games, since you can't turn 360 degrees without a VR headset. 3D headset + beefy GPU should've come first this gen, then Kinect...

No doubt it is for the industry, but business in general? Now this is off the top of my head, but I'd say the biggest was Steve Jobs comeback turning his Apple brand into the Ferrari of computers and revolutionizing portable music and the music industry itself. If you factor in how disgusted he actually was with windows, I'd say that is at least near the top.

...Or, perhaps it is George Lucas overtaking multi-billionaires(or was it millionaires back then?) and changing the entire industry.

I will forever remember that as the day that somebody received a standing ovation for announcing absolutely nothing.

In fact, both Microsoft and Sony announced screwing over the consumer more than they usually do that E3 except Sony's announcement wasn't as bad as Microsoft's... Everyone rejoice?

Most memorable and epic moment for me was the Final Fantasy 13 announcement for 360.
