FF7 is my favorite game of all time, and I don't consider myself a casual gamer, someones favorite game has nothing to do with being a casual gamer. Dividing gamers is kind of silly though.

A gamer is someone who loves games, and someone who only plays games because they are popular is not a gamer, at least to me anyway.

Funny. I've played some of the most "hardcore" games out and put many hours into them. But just because I buy every Madden im casual. Oh well.

-You think the Ps3 is the most powerful because its 500 bucks (most feature heavy but not powerful. Overpriced =/= expensive. PS3 is a decent deal but its not what gamers need)


So what does this make me? non-casual. Even though i only have a Wii and hope to get a 360 when i'm rich(never).
I play games but not all the time. I usually stick to the games i know and love. You can see my collection and see what i've played/play.

Hardcore and Casual is such a small category line. Theres so much more to it.

2 is the most important one, but all you listed are opinions, and no, not all casuals have the same opinion.

and yes, i think MGS2 is maybe one of the greatest games of all time, and so are FFX and VII, but i think the best RPG of all time is Xenogears.

How is buying Madden make you a casual? I mean, Jesus people you guys act like this is Satan's gift to the video game industry. It's a good football series that gets constant A/AA scores. Get over it already.

I 100% agree.I am a HUGE fan of football, which is why I buy Madden. Nobody seams to understand this.

TC, those reasons are bogus. Your a casual when you know when you follow everyone by buying that popular game or just buy less then 10 games a year. some hardcore when they were younger thought link was zelda. FF7 is my fav game of all time. does that make me a casual? NO.

Uh casual gamers are people who put a low priority on playing games, and only play the big name titles that are easily approachable, like Halo. That's fine, they have other things to do and frankly gaming four hours a day is definitely an imbalanced lifestyle.

If you're talking about very casual gamers, like the Nintendo Wii crowd with Wii Play and Wii Sports and Wario Ware, then that's a different story entirely. They play games that require little to no personal investment and can be beaten by a six year old. That is the kind of gamer who is killing corporate investment into hardcore games.

And by the way, a game where you have to use a calculator to beat it isn't 'hardcore', it's just kinda dumb. Games are meant to be games, not math exercises. That hold true for Brain Training, too; that's not a game.

I knew these reasons wouldn't turn this into anything good.

To me its someone who doesn't have much gaming knowledge, doesn't spend much time playing games or gets few games as well as buy games based on hype/popularity or because it includes popular elements (celebrities, based on popular movie, tv show etc...)

I love halo also, but I still play just about everygame out there every made if I get a chance, I love every genre, so I consider myself hardcore, I play games more than I watch tv or movies

so why can't I be hardcore, just because I love halo and madden?
