We need a survival horror game built on a decent engine, like Frostbite

Honestly, I play something like BF3 and the engine would be so good if it was used in a survival horror game. The lighting, the effects... it would be amazing. Think of some of the darker interior sections, or the dark outsite bits with rain, and they would be AMAZING in a survival horror game.

There is a distinct lack of first person survival horror games this gen, and the ones we do have use pretty tired looking engines. I know it is a bit random, but I genuinelly miss slow paced survival horror games.

Agree... I'm looking forward to this. But I would love another first person survival horror.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is coming out later this year.

You're playing on the wrong system if you think we have had a lack of first person survival horror games.

I don't like the feel of frostbite or 2. Cry engine has been used in MMO's and FPS's an updated one would be awesome for this.

The engine isn't even 1% of the problem of lack of survival horror games.

Its that devs are trying to appeal to the dudebros, and turn every genre into a straight actioneer.

A survival horror game with Frostbite's destructibility would be amazing. I would love to see a real survival horror game, where the world around you isn't safe. Objects around can fall and crumble upon you, you're running from either supernatural or super powerful forces, trying to just survive. If it was a nature survival situation, that would be amazing too.

Chances are Dead Space 3 will show up at E3, so you won't have to wait long.

Agreed. Do you remember that feeling of dread when playing Resident Evil on the PSX. And the relief when you reached a safe room. Apart from Demon's Souls / Dark Souls, I don't think any game has come close to matching that level of dread...

It would be great to see a survival horror game use the environment more.

A lack of Ammo and weapons in general IE say things like Bats, Metal bars breaking etc Guns jamming or lack of Bullets or all of these things coupled with a game that makes you USE the environment to survive would be a nice change of pace.

See that Monster or Monsters they are vulnerable to sunlight so somehow collapse the ceiling or destroy the environment to trap or kill them! How about a survival game that focuses on traps and manipulation of the environment for a change. Bah they aint got the guts or even the talent to pull this stuff anymore sadly! To much of a risk.

I couldn't agree more. A really top notch engine with extremely good lighting would do wonders for a Horror game. Sure DS3 might be on Frostbite 2 but it's not a survival horror game, it's not even a scary series. A game like Amnesia where you are involved and up close to the stuff happening. A game where the light can actually play tricks on you and hide things well without it looking obvious. We are in desperate need for something like that.

I think Anmesia a machine for pigs will look good but slightly dated like the original was. Still an amazing game but could benefit so much more from something like Frostbite 2 with it's amazing lighting and sound design. You could really mess with some heads with it

Who said Frostbite is the alpha and omega of graphics engines? The last Need For Speed looked quite mediocre despite using it. I think the Unreal engine is still the most versatille, given all the tools and documentation it has now. Besides, Capcom's own MT Framework is more than good enough imo.

Yeah I prefer Cryengine 3 or MT Framework, in my experience there more user friendly.

So you want a survival horror game with clipping issues and nonreflective surfaces?

Pug-Nasty

I want them to start making survivial horror games in the first place. Theres barely any at all, not going to worry about the engine or gfx at all till that.

I'd rather see more quality survival horror titles. Dead Space is great but it's not really survival horror.

I agree but it would have to be PC exclusive to get the best graphics and lighting. Who knows maybe RE6 on PC will be awesome on high end graphics.

No thanks, I'll pass on the screen tearing. Dead Space and Dead Space 2 are built on a phenomenal engine that has great graphics and produces a game where all versions look the same which is quite impressive this Gen, and has no screen tearing unlike Battlefiled 3.

20% of enemys or less is actually mutants/zombies, plus its more of a survival action game NOT horror, I don't feel how that game is scary at all..Anyway agreed give Fictional Games a engine like Frostbite/URE4/Cry Engine 3 then leave them the **** alone for 2 years and see what they come up with.
