i have sex in real life. I don't want to have sex in video games. Porn is good enough for me for when I'm not around my girlfriend.NFJSupreme
So do I
What promoted me to start this thread is hour ago i can across interesting TV program, '50 greatest ever sex scene' no, not in porn, but in Hollywood movies, and it wasn't on at 2am in morning this was on prime time, that right it came on at 10pm, so how come movies get away with it and it no go for video games.
It's a tradeoff. In the US, chopping off heads is fine, but sex gets you AO, while in Europe, sex is fine, while violence means the game is banned.
Example: Fahrenheit for the Xbox.
Developers want those sales, and "M" seems to be the rating of choice if you have to have the stuff in there.
Some parents would pick up a game for their kid that's rated "M" because they think their kid's mature enough to handle it, but when you say ADULTS ONLY that's almost synonymous with "XXX" to them and any sane parent wouldn't buy their kids porn.
I just think AO should be sold in retailers. BTW TC 97% of the interenet is porn. If you have an urge just use google.meetroid8You know, I wonder what the real statistic is for how much of the internet is actually porn. I'm pretty sure you were exaggerating, but I actually think it might be somewhere between 30-45%.

So why do movies with sex scens get away with 15 and 18 rateing?

But seriously if you google something however minorly related you always get those stupid sites.

oh you are talking about cut scenes and stuff. I thought you ment like actually gameplay. Haha cause if its gameplay I don't got time for all that. I'd just call my girlfriend or something. Why push buttons on a game pad when I can just push her buttons? But if its cut scenes then yeah I agree. Its always good to see T & A.
I think the whole deal that in Western culture we seem to view violence being more appropriate than sexuality and nudity in our media is completely ridiculous. In the real world what is worse, looking at breasts or ending the life of a fellow human being? Where do we get these standards that "sex" is so much worse than violence? Sex makes life, violence ends it, give me a break!
/End rant

I agree. But I also think the human population is far to overgrown and is killing and WILL kill the earth so every human death although bad on a personal level is actually good for the earth. Just some food for thought.;)

It's not Western culture, its American culture.

I think it is because we are coming out of a once predominantly Christian culture that once feared sexual lust and clearly steered away from it. By lust I mean disrespect for women by viewing them entirely as objects of pleasure as opposed to viewing them lovingly as other humans. I am not saying that sex is bad (the Bible had an entire book devoted to love between Solomon and his wife), but the perversion into lust is. In the same way violence for the sake of killing is perverted, while fighting for freedom, justice, or protection is not. I consider sexual content in games far worse than violence because it visually stimulates lust, while I find that playing a game of Call of Duty 2 does not make me go off and dream about killing people.
Movies are art, that's why they have it. So is television. Gaming is a passtime, it's meant to be fun and exciting. Hence why in Goodfellas, which takes place from 1955 to 1980, has about 15 people die. In GTA, in one year, about 1000 do....(AKA, it's all about explosions and passing time and fun, not drama).

Movies are about emotional expression. Games are about pwning noobs because you have nothing better to do.i agree...when it comes to games there needs to be more "BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG!"-John Witherspoon

Why should gaming be limited to what you think it should be about? Plenty of adventure and RPG games attempt to do more then provide you with explosions and fun. The industry should be free to create whatever type of games they want and the more variety the better as far as I'm concerned.

I play a lot of RPGs and adventure. And they do the same thing with more commands, maybe no explosions, but not much more. The only way to show sex would be to display it in cutscenes. Thus, stealing from movies. In other words, games aren't about sex, you can't play sex, or at least, do it very well. Games aren't meant for this kind of stuff. Games have never been about emotional expression, they've been about experiencing something and enjoying the game. Movies and music and books etc. are however. Games are NEVER going to have some fancy art critic analyzing them, they'll forever be electronic toys for people of all ages.i have sex in real life. I don't want to have sex in video games. wow you sound so fake, it's hilarious
Fahrenheit

Isnt that game by the guys who did 'The Nomad Soul' and wasnt that one of the first mainsteam 3d games with an implied sex scene, if i recall david bowie was in the nomad soul, its an under rated game not many people have played.
so is Fahrenheit anygood? its a game ive wanted to play for a while, didnt know it has sex in it.
I remember the game 'Vampire the Masquerade : Bloodlines' having a sex scene at the start of the game, and you get embraced during the sex and the bad guys bust in during the middle and stake you both.
Then you wake up during a kind of trial where they kill the person who turned you into a vampire, and the game starts shortly after, pretty awesome game really, like Deus Ex with vampires.
Am seriouse guys, am not perv, but I just don't like the way gaming industry is getting treated. I really cant understand why we have not seen any explicit sex scene in video games? Are developer worried that their game will not be released or may get AO rating?**Cough** Manhunt 2 **cough** I mean we see it all the time in movie so why not in video games? gameruk2010
Aren't we getting some nudity in Mass Effect? I mean, gotta keep that game from getting boring somehow, right?

Fahrenheit (called Indigo Prophecy in the US) has an amazing story; the gameplay is so-so. In the US, the sex scenes (one of which is interactive) were taken out. You can get Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Director's Cut (for PC) as a download and is unedited and rated AO.
