If the DLC features Ne Zha as a boss and/or an ally.

Because......BOOM!!!!!

Highest grossing animated film of all time. Another Chinese victory. And one that Game Science can use with, with DLC, capitalizing on the film's success.

A Ne Zha bossfight could be one of the most anticipated bosses ever in a game.

Does this fit the lore and aesthetic of the Black Myth IP or is it a shameless cash-grab?

In either case @texasgoldrush:, what is your obsession? You seem more concerned with winning an argument no one is having with you than making any sort of constructive point.

Ne Zha is actually in BMW already.

And Wukong did defeat Ne Zha in Journey To The West.

Nice! So a natural fit. That's good to hear.

@texasgoldrush: So...is Ne Zha 2 an original story, or just a straight retelling of Journey to the West?

You implied in another thread that it was really bold of the Black Myth Wukong developers to remix Journey to the West, so I'd be surprised if Ne Zha 2 was also some kind of original story. You made it sound like nobody has ever tried telling Journey to the West before.

The movie probably big in china so it made sense. Will the DLC be available for worldwide consumers?

The movie is a loose adaptation of Investiture of the Gods, another Ming era novel. But Ne Zha is also in Journey to the West. This Nezha movie line also has a Jiang Ziya spinoff, also Investiture of the Gods.

And China is going hard on Investiture of the Gods adaptions right now.

Funny thing is, Ne Zha was in Smite (Western made game) for a long time, and no one cared. It's just so weird that people care now, simply because China made a high grossing movie with the character...

They have made multiple with the character, he was always big in China. The movie made in the 70's was also well known. The first movie was also a big hit.

The sequel is by far China's highest grossing movie ever. This is a gamechanger. The West is so stunned there are barely any critic reviews on RT. The audience score of 99% tells the tale.

I've heard of Ne Zha years ago, but never knew there was a sequel until last week... when I heard news of Ne Zha 2 becoming the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

It's grossed nearly $1.9 billion in China alone. And it still has legs... It's almost certainly going to gross over $2 billion and become one of the top 5 highest-grossing movies of all time. And that's just from a single market, which is unprecedented.

It's also sold well over 280 million tickets in China. To put that into perspective, that's almost as many tickets as what Gone with the Wind sold worldwide.

If Wukong devs capitalize on this and make a Ne Zha DLC, that's going to give Wukong a big sales boost in China. I could see Wukong selling 30 million units in China alone.

I've heard of the first Ne Zha years ago, but never watched it and never heard of the sequel until last week.

The Sinophobic meltdown is also hilarious... Americaboos have their heads so far up America's arse that they can't stand a non-Western country challenging American exceptionalism.

I had no idea this thread was a thing till I saw TC bump it. But since I really like BMW and it's my GOTY 2024, I'll explain more on Ne Zha. I watch the sequel in IMAX almost 2 weeks ago, very stunning to say the least. There’s even a subtle nod to Sun Wukong’s legendary Jingubang Staff in one of the action scenes. Highly recommend checking out the sequel and it's basically Pixar meets Dragon Ball Z. (Really wish Avatar: The Last Airbender would get this treatment) If you never watch the first film, it's free to watch on YouTube. Only reason it's becoming the highest grossing animated film is due to Chinese New Year when most Chinese people were off-work to go see it.

I honestly don't know if Game Science are going to do a DLC for Ne Zha. It's pretty interesting how BMW and Ne Zha 2 both arrived at the same idea that immortality pill creation is actually an evil act and they're made from people/Yaoguai. We're still waiting for 2 Expansions to arrive this year. (Early 2025 according to rumors)

Fun fact and I'll mark this spoilers if you haven't dive into BMW: Guanyin has two acolytes, Red Boy and Dragon Girl and they both show up in Black Bear's background story. Dragon Girl is in fact the daughter of Ao Guang Dragon King of the East/Ao Bing's younger sister. Sanzang's white horse is named Ao Lie, he's the 3rd son of Dragon King of the West. In Ne Zha 2, that's Ao Run the lady dragon.

I haven't seen either Ne Zha movie. But the trailers give me DBZ meets Kung Fu Panda vibes.

Even for a holiday season, the movie's box office is insane... We're talking 300 million tickets sold in China alone. That's more tickets than what Gone with the Wind sold worldwide.

I haven't played Wukong... In fact, I haven't played any new releases in the last year or so.

I called it. The real question is: How high can it go? It's almost certainly going to enter the top 5 all-time list by surpassing Avengers: Infinity War and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But can it reach Titanic's $2.2 billion?
