Well i just got Mass Effect and played for about 6 hours.....

All i have to say is wow, how the hell did this game get anything less than a 9? The story is simply superb,very deep and detailed with lotso f subplots, character motives etc. The combat is great, with lots of abilities ' customization etc. The graphics are amazing and the "performance" issues that they talk about in the review are far too over-exaggerated, i found no real inconvenience with the performance.

This is one of the, if not BEST rpg of this generation so far, it ranks right up there with oblivion (Mass effect has a superior story imo though).

Anyone else feel that the mass effect review was unfair /should have been higher? Im really starting to believe that the reviews are not of the quality they used to be.

P.S. haha no mass effect for ps3 :).

I couldn't agree more. Every game has its flaws and all, but ME's good points are so overwhemingly great they deserve no less than a 9 to 9.5. I simply canniot in any way compare another 8.5 rated game to ME. I just can't. But at the end of the day screw all the gaming sights reviews. Its what you think that counts individually. And for me, a 15 year rpg fan ME is simply the very best ever, IMHO.

Yes I feel the same way.. the glitches are waay too overated.. Mass Effect is one of the best..

The game is a 9.5-10 IMHO... Framerate drops but honestly who gives a rats a$$... the game is that good. My only gripe is that there are too many duplicate weapons which drives me a little nuts... I like that I'm not searching for the "master sword" or anything but how many "Edge III" pistols do I really need...? I've only got 6 guys in my squad... can you say OMNI TOOLS!!!!

The game is great a little harsh to not deserve a 9 coz imo very few games now adays deliver a worthy story.

But like Cedmin says Bioware really should have tightened up the loose ends. Some of the planets are just empty and their are technical issues with the game at times. Not as bad as some make out, I've seen much worse especially on the Ps3 which is funny as they are the biggest critics of ME.

I just hope it sells well as these games are becoming quite rare and the production values will only get worse if teh gaems dont sell.

I had Kaiden die and saved Williams. Kaiden dies with the bomb on the research facility.

Respectfully, I completely disagree. In most peoples books, this game would easily be a 10 if not for the technical issues, but for me it gets a 10 anyway, because I didnt see most of the technical issues people were talking about. The story is better than anything else I have played on a console to date. The biggest thing for me personally, when dealing with RPGs (which I have loved and played for 25 years now) is just how much you can immerse yourself in that world. It heavily deals with "escapism" for me, and this game had me from the beginning. Hell, I am STILL shook up over one of the terrible decisions I had to make in the game, and for it to get to me like that, it did its job very well.

Yes, please stop with the spoilers. A story this fantastic just doesnt deserve to be ruined for those that havent yet played it or havent gotten that far.

Sidenote... I have heard alot of people fussing about not much to do with the planetary exploration except go salvage things, and for those folks, they really need to beat the game and go back through on hardcore. Now, when you go to these anomalys and crash sites, you can run into scavenger teams, and you have to fight them before you can do any kind of salvaging yourself. That should add to it for people, somewhat.

I think the game deserves a 9 and i do agree the the issues are blown way out of proportion. The game for the most part runs pretty smooth. There are a couple hitches but nothing that affects the gameplay. Lots of exploration and lots of stuff to do. I finished my first play through in 33 hours as a soldier and i was mostly a paragorn. Now i'm going back through it as a vanguard and i'm gonna become a renegade instead of a paragorn.

P.S. the ps3 thing you said was really not necessary.

I think the game got what it deserved, maybe a 9 would have fit with the game, but honestly to me a game filled with glitches kills a game. My #1 reason of despising Gears, the gameplay is broken. Of course the glitches in ME arent NEARLY as bad, but none the less, the framerate issues especially when just turning the camera is a bit rediculous, along with getting stuck in walls, or between npc's / walls. Bell is about to ring for my nextperiod i might post in this thread later.
