Microsoft will just release Halo 3 and sales will skyrocket...
Sony will probably drop the price $50 and pray.

I expect Microsoft to re-design the 360 to look more "Wii-sh" and drop the price. Sony will probably do something similar. When they do this beyond me but the Wii's appeal is manifold and it doesn't have hardly anything to do with software or game reviews. So expect them to try and emulate or exceed those aesthetic differences. MS has already announced they are "re-marketing" the 360 to get families more involved. Both big boys bet that this would be the gen for the "set top box" and lo and behold all people want is a gaming machine for the kids.

I pretty much mentioned counting on Halo 3 as the worst strategy possible. Sales will increase, but Halo 3 alone can't keep the 360's sales at the same level as the Wii for an extended period of time. Nintendo has clearly outsmarted the competition, so I hope they have something planned.
And harry2k5 I'm a level 21, it says it at the top of my browser and in most other threads. It must be a glitch when I make threads.

Tens of thousands? You will see a significant spike in 360 sales when Halo 3 releases, but as I've said Halo 3 can't keep sales at that level for long.

Yeah I seriously doubt it. Halo at this point is just a fan appeal game to the existing Xbox market. It's not going to gain anyone new that didn't play the first 2.
Sony will drop the price, release their games and services, and hope people see the light. Anti-sony faboys have been their worst enemy from the start. Spreading slanderous BS and predicting doom long before PS3's price was even announced.

That doesn't make sense... Why would you buy a console at full price now (or in 2005) for a game that wasn't coming out for a few months (or years). Is that what PS3 buyers did?
I think Halo 3 will greatly push 360 into the holiday season and there will of course be a price cut to help along. Even though those rumours are hotly denied by M$ they were quoted as saying they were well aware that the sweet pricepoint is 199. I'm sure by holiday season they will edge closer to that number and really take off.
The wii Will gain more 3rd party support and continue to dominate sales this year
That leaves the PS3... How much of a price cut would $ony have to make to stay competitive with the 360s cut? and will the games finally come are the 2 main questions.
It's time for some big plans. Regardless of the importance of sales here on SW, which as become a hotly debated topic, sales are very important to console manufacturers. Let's face it: whether you like it or not, the Wii is spanking the competition, and they're doing so with somewhat limited software. I hope MS and Sony aren't sitting back like lemmings/cows and saying "well *insert personal favourite game here* will save my respective console," because that is a surefire way to get demolished by the Wii this gen. So, any thoughts on how Microsoft and Sony will change their strategy? Could it be price? Marketing to casuals/non-gamers? Feel free to speculate on what you think these giant corporations will do, or should do to save their consoles. Vyse_The_DaringNintendo is selling extremely well and I hope both M$ and Sony has learned a valueable lesson, inovation, creativity and an afordable price = hugh buckets of cash. Unfotunatly for me the wii is not enough. You see, I am like lion, a black panther, a bengal tiger prowling the jungle of life. The wii is like an apple, fun, sweet and good for your health. I can enjoy the wii but it doesn't satisfy my hunger for something meaty I can bury my fangs into, someting hard like bone I can shapen my claws on, or give chase to lighting swift prey that will test my cat like reflexes and cunning. Only hardcore games like Ninja Gaiden, Virtual Fighter, Bioshock, Mass Effect, UT III, Assassins Creed, Heavenly Sword can quinch my thrist for blood.

AHAHAHAHAHAA that's a pretty intense metaphor. Yeah, I agree with you. I prefer serious, involved, complex games.
Microsoft is doing well, all they need to do is keep coming with those games and XBL updates.
Sony is picking up speed, they need to drop that price a century and push out more games. Keep that online free, though! Yeeeaaaauuhhhhhhhs, sir!

MS is due for a price adjustment. I got a feeling they, or a third party, will be making a motion controller for display at the upcoming e3. Making simple games. Ones that can be picked up and played without the need to learn complex controlls. I can think that casual gamers want a home system hat can give them the "arcade" type of fun. By that I mean it was fun to go to the arcade for a few hours, drop some coin and then go home and do other stuff. Long involving games are what wii owners are NOT into (IMO). MS has taken a similar approach with the live arcade games from the beginning. I feel they will begin more development on pick up and play games for everyone.
sony on the other hand has a reputation to try and get back. for them to shift focus from the crowd that got them where they are would be a mistake. Stick to your guns and be respected instead of selling out. It is quite funny how this gen sony is the follower instead of the leader. Home, PSN, motion sensing bowling...come on sony. You got more than that. Dont reduce your $600 machine to "novelties" like the others. Price drop is too soon for them even though it would help. Not sure by how much considering there is such a vast gap between wii and ps3 prices.
