I don't understand why people praise the Wii so much. I am still getting one, but I don't think this console is worthy of selling that many units. IMO, I think that Nintendo made a wise decision by targeting the Wii towards a larger age group, and making it more innovative, but I still don't think it should be getting this much praise. Wii Sports is cool and all, but it is very repetitive.

Watch what you say, someone might take that the wrong way. :P
I agree with you, although I understand that the demand it creates by being a novalty to some is what seems to push it sales.
I think the infuriating thing, is when you have a dunce behind you praising the Wii as the second coming of Jesus Christ, and then subsequently bashing everything else, saying that they don't have gameplay. I bet those individuals don't even know the meaning of gameplay is.

I know it's not, but it seems to me that Wii Sports is the main reason why casual gamers/non-gamers are getting the Wii.
nowthe system is still sold out over a year after launch! Which is a record isnt it? I can't remember any other console that has went this long without having systems on shelves to actually buy. The Wii's game lineup isnt even that great but I guess oldies and what not still can't get enough of Wii Sports. -supercharged-
The ps3's line-up isnt any better, 360 has had a whole 2 years to EARN these sales, but it hasn't.

The 360 came out a year before the PS3 and Wii. It isn't selling the most units because of the reasons I listed above.
I'd get a Wii if only it had more than just 1 game that interests me.SeaLz
SSBB looks promising as well as Spore (exclusive to consoles but also on PC). You should check them out.

I know I know. Hopefully all of the content wont take up too much space, because I can see myself doing a lot of creative things with that game.

Lucky for us, it has earned the best library instead.
Don't know about you, but I'd rather have a system with a killer library than a system with killer sales numbers (and a comparitively poor library.)

This whole thing is subjective. I can rattle off half a dozen Wii games that I don't have, that I still want to get, but I'm hard pressed to name more than a couple of 360 games, and even one PS3 game (of the games that are currently out).

The truly elite games are the stereotypical male ego games. It doesn't make them bad or anything, but it's just the way it is. Knock off the shooters and I wouldn't have bought a 360 in a million years, neither would anyone else have.

I think Nintendo was above all very wise, like Sega before them, they realized they were facing a competition whose pockets were much deeper than theirs, and this was going to be a seriously expensive generation. They could not compete with M$ ans $ony on the same league, and so they invented their own.

I've never met anyone who only had Wii Sports. To me, this is the biggest lie that's been told about the system and I have a few reasons why I think it is this. First, if people are only going to play one game and they are "casuals", they aren't/shouldn't be beating hardcore people to the consoles. Second, if they're interested in Wii Sports, why would they not be interested in Wii Play or even budget titles for everyone like Game Party? I just don't see anyone loving Wii Sports and then not giving any other game a chance. I am not saying they'd be picking up Zelda or Metroid, but the minigames/easier games would have to appeal to them. If you're dropping $250 on a system, plus more for controllers, you would have to be an absolute fool to not give other games a chance.
I don't think the Wii is necessarily getting the non-gamer audience. They're getting the gamers plus the portion of people who always were interested but found it too difficult. I don't think they're making gamers so much as they're bringing the gamer out of the person.

My bro bought a Wii and a handful of games. I bought him Super Paper Mario which he's never finished and since he got his 360 it just collects dust. Alot of Wii's are going to be that purchase most people regret after the hype is gone.

Bread_or_Decide
In my opinion (I obviously don't know your brother), if he's that neglecting of his Wii, he should have never gotten it in the first place. If you can't find a good game to play on the Wii at this point, you never were truly into the logic behind it to begin with. And, especially if he's an online gamer. Those people don't seem to give two hoots about a story mode. If you asked me what I currently play more of 360 or Wii, I would say 360. If you ask me what I will probably play more of for the rest of the gen, I'd say 360. But, the only reason it's 360 is because I have friends I play online with, and if you were to take that out of the equation, I would play the Wii more. I personally go Wii60 because it gives me the complete package. Two different things all together. The PS3, I'll probably get it when they make a smaller version, but really it brings nothing to the table that can't be done on the Wii60 anyways.

Yeah well he bought it on the hype. Which is what is driving most of the sales. I made my purchase knowing what I wanted from the system and what kinds of games I planned to purchase. Most consumers purchase on impulse, all those toys end up in the closet at the end of the year. Lost and forgotten. Hardcore Wii owners want to think every wii owner is gaming 50 hours a week and plunking down for a new game every few weeks. Not reality for the Wii. Heck that wasn't the case for the PS2.

You ever played Madden on the Wii before? Madden 07 won Sports Game of the Year on GS for a reason, you know. It may not the best looking sports game, but out of what I heard, it's the most innovative, fully using the Wii-mote to completely immerse the players to the game. For example, if you're the QB, and you see a reciever open, you can actually do a flicking motion towards the TV. When you play defense, you can put one hand up to break up a pass, or put up both hands to intercept the pass.

the wii is not bad ... but it is not nearly as good as people claim it to be.
All I can speak for is myself. There are more games coming out next year on the Wii that I want to play than either of the other 2 systems.
and all i can do is speak for my self ... and that is that there is only one game comming out for the wii next year that i would actually buy ... and i think we all know what that is.

I mean this with all due respect, but in my honest opinion, I think any hardcore gamer who is saying their Wiis get no play is either lying because they prefer another console or quite frankly, aren't really hardcore gamers. The Wii now has plenty of great games out there and if you can't find any you would like to play, I would question just what you play to begin with.
And for the people bashing Wii game sales, read the charts. You look stupid. You can't only compare AMERICAN sales. The 360 has outsold the Wii by a couple million, of course the games will be moving faster. Look at it worldwide and the sales are in Nintendo's favor by a decent margin (which is about right because Nintendo has sold 2 million more worldwide).

QFT!!!
[QUOTE="wiretoss"][QUOTE="TMontana1004"]I don't understand why people praise the Wii so much.

I can understand your standpoint, but it seems like you're talking like Wii Sports is the ONLY game on the system.
I know it's not, but it seems to me that Wii Sports is the main reason why casual gamers/non-gamers are getting the Wii.
Open your eyes man. Wii sports has worn off...... Just cause it comes with ever wii. does NOT mean people buy the wii for it.....
