I really enjoyed 1 and 2 in the beginnings, but as I played on I grew to hate them. It's usually the other way around for most games in my experience. I didn't even bother to try the 3rd one. The thing that I find really peculiar is that I don't really know why I hate them. This is the only series I've had this experience with. I definitely got bored but I find many games boring and I don't hate them.
I'v played both Fable 1 and 2 and didn't like either of them here's why:
The combat was repetitive and boring
The story was meh; character even moreso.
The first game was much too short and linear for an rpg
The good/bad system was a joke; Join the bandits and plunder the village or help defend the village; gee I wonder which is the' bad option'...I like more ambiguity in my choices andother games have done this system better.
Well, I played just the first one and I didn't like how limited it seemed and how unconnected the story and happenings were. I also found the fighting system a little lackluster and it overall didn't seem as the "epic action RPG" it was hyped to be.
Molyneux made Dark Souls? I did not know :P

Yeah, I was also dissappoint by the good/bad system. It just seemed nowhere near as important or epic as it was hyped to be.
I loved the first. It was visually stunning at the time, had an interesting(little clichéd) story, good characters and some mechanics that were ahead of it's time.
I liked the combat, the leveling up system, the enemy types, the whole good/evil thing and the morphing that came with that. And the game was undeniabley charming and funny, sometimes hilarious. It just had a unique wit to it.
Basically, I found very little wrong with the game at the time, it was brilliant. I stupidly never got around to playing the Lost Chapters though.
Bought Fable 2, had high hopes but they made the game even more simple, It was still good however and there were some nice additions, like the dog companion etc. But I was let down by the game hugely.
I'm not even going to bother with 3, I'd probably get ill just playing it.
I noticed a lot of hate for the Fable series here and I completely understand, BUT I am interested in your opinion. Name top 5 reasons why you dont like the fable series as a whole, or an individual game like Fable 3. Peter Molyneux is a genius and without him the industry would not be how it is, (no dark souls) so what 5 thngs do you dislike about the fable series?Aquaunitpatrol
Fable led to Dark Souls ... ?
Oh, it's you loosingENDS ... :) Almost didn't recognize the alt account ...
The first two Fable games were really good, especially Fable TLC. I invested so many extra hours into that game it's crazy. Excellent sidequest and the feel of a living world made it amazing. Fable II was really good in its own place to. I though the addition of guns was neat and the way the world was laid out was pretty neat. Not as good as the first but fun.
Now Fable III was a disappointment. The structure of the world was killed, the rpg elements were really stripped out of it and it just wasn't as much fun. Plus I hate the need for all the money at the end.
Fable: The Lost Chapters on the PC was a good game, i really liked it. Fable 2, not as much, almost mediocre, but i didn't have to force my self trough it, i guess i enjoyed it.
Fable 3 was trash, i couldn't finish it, here's Angry Joe to fill in since i'm to lazy to continue.
32 reasons why Fable 3 sucks
i dont hate the fable series. I liked the character progression and customization in 1 and 2, and I enjoyed the dialogue/characters in 3.
