Me and my friend were talking about Resident Evil 5 and I brought up that some people like the original gameplay more than RE4 and RE5 style. My friend then said that Capcom should make two series. One with the original style gameplay and one with the new style.

So there would be a more Survival Horror oriented style and a more Action oriented style and maybe everybody would be happy.

My question is would you like to see a split or are you opposed to that for some reason? I think Capcom said that RE6 will be a change for the series again so maybe we will see a return to the roots.

I personally think a split is a good idea. Oh and also you can state which style of gameplay you like more.

They could incorporate both into game play in different sequence, like MGS4 did...

Personally I am a fan of the older style of gameplay, a great idea that never came to realization due to fledgling online capabillities of the PS2 was Resident Evil outbreak File 1-2. With the unified online systems that we have nowdays the concept could be more fleshed out and work very well in todays market I would think. But something like the new style will always sell better because we are in a shooter trend, so shooters will sell alot more than anything they could cook up.

wait a minute.... "So there would be a more Survival Horror oriented style and a more Action oriented style and maybe everybody would be happy. " So you need the broken controls and crappy SECURITY-like camera system to consider RE4 a SURIVAL HORROR? Because of the perspective change (more realistic) of being able to aim at specific body parts as chris would do in RE1 in REAL LIFE, yet it limited to the player with a crappy system...its NOT surival horror? boy have i heard it all.

Saying this as a huge fan of Resident Evil 1,2, and CV, why the hell would you ever want to go back to the awful tank controls? Really people, if you brought those same controls into a game this generation, it would be a piece of crap. To it's credit though, Resident Evil 5's controls are even beginning to show their age.

I barely have any experience with RE so I wouldn't know, but people say that RE4 is not a true survival horror game and is more action oriented. I don't really know if it's other certain elements or the camera system or what.

I hated the controls in the original games, period. RE4 came out and blew me away, I love that style of gameplay, it even inspired Cliffy B for Gears, lol. Nah, they can keep their frustrating crappy controls of the original, I'm with evolving the game for the better.

People say it's more action oriented, because you can actually shoot things in confidence, people really don't know what they want. I swear if they ever make or rerelease an RE game with the old controls everyone would hate it.

the controls the original RE games had were fine for that camera angle and style of gameplay.
but since the newer RE games are more action oriented. original RE gameplay wouldn't map well
capcom knows that because they obviously tried it out and made something that would fit
i love the controls RE4/RE5 are workin' with. it just fits those games better

as for people crying about what survival horror is...
what difference does it make? i mean really...c'mon.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Just today, I also read that there is too much ammo availiable in RE4 and in the old games it was more scarce. I guess less ammo makes it more of a survival. :?

how can controls show thier age? i think if ur talking about how u can't walk and shoot i think it has to do with being over bubarted with zombies. it makes the player feel pressure of too many enemies.

how can anyone like the old camera angle? i enjoyed re2 but i hated the camera angles. sometimes there would be a zombie where the camera would stop so u didn't know if there was a zombie there or not. i like the option of a 3rd person view of the camera being 3rd person.
