i think it will be around december when we get the replacement for the 5870 (the 6970) which is supposed to be as if not more powerful than a 5970 :D please dont cost a million dollars
Do want! But I just spent the last bit of my college money on a HD5850, new PSU and a new case :). Still rocking my 2 yearold Q8200 which I'm hoping to replace soon for an i7 range. The HD5850 noms everything I throw at it though, and runs Crysis at a solid 30fps very high 1080p so I'm good for the next few years. :D
[QUOTE="GTSaiyanjin2"]Yeah AMD for some reason changed the name of their cards. The new 6870 is actually replacing the 5750 I believe at $250. The highend chiips won't come out till late next month.JohnF111Wow seriously! Ima so having one of them!! yeah the card won't be as powerful as 5870, but the performance should be in line with a 5850 which goes for about $290
Ah good, this will make the price drop of the 5770 and I'll be able to Crossfire.tagyhag
Our PC's can be twins.
Because that's exactly what I'm hoping for :P

Which 5850 did you get?
I had the Asus but the fan makes a very irritating noise...I guess it's natural on the card, not sure.
Waiting on the 69xx cards. That's where I shop :).millerlight89
same im just hoping that they dont think they can charge 5970 money for the 6970 seeing as its replacing the 5870 but something tells me thats what is behind this weird number changing thing :(

The 5970 will probably end up costing about $500 or a little less. From what I've read the chip die size is as big as the one found on a GTX 480 and its just as power hungry as well. It should end up being 30% faster as well.Ah good, this will make the price drop of the 5770 and I'll be able to Crossfire.tagyhagThat's what I'l be doing. How much is a 5770 gonna cost after the price drop?
UPDATE: Heres an even better link. XFX version leaked. http://www.techpowerup.com/132790/XFX-Radeon-HD-6870-Smiles-for-the-Camera.html
Its meant to be the successor to the 5700 series cards. No point in buying on if you already own a 5800 series card. ATI has a nice numbering system and now theyre going to screw it up? I dont get it. They should keep it so x5xx is low end, x7xx mid end, x8xx gaming, and x9xx enthusiast.
