just wondering

I prefer the Xbox 360 placements, likely because the original xbox controller was my first dual-analog controller.
Stick placement doesn't matter much to me, but I do prefer the look and feel of the PS3 much more than the 360 one. I don't really like the 360 controller.
They're both pretty adaptable for me, imo.
But I prefer the XBox 360's simply because of the triggers and the analog sticks just have that right "grippy" feel.
PS3's analog sticks have a very slight tendency to slip off my thumbs, but that's just me.

Albeit personally preferring the PS3 controller, ditto on the PS1 analog was my first dual-stick controller.
MIne would have to be the 360 controller. My real main issue with the PS3/PS2 controllers is the analog placement. They feel a little too close together for me. I feel like I'm going to rub thumbs. I have never been able to get used to it. Once I got my hands on the Dreamcast controller I fell in love with that. If it would have had another analogstick it would have been amazing. Then the S-type controller for the Xbox became one of my favorites. The Duke controller for the Xbox was an absolute failure! It felt like holding a football.

The 360 controller. It's the closest thing to having your hand in a natural position.Karnage108Your 1 hand that is :P Nah, that one would be natural too. LOL JK :o
I like the 360's controller. Which would mean I also like the Gamecube's Controller.
doesn't make the PS3's controller bad, I just perfer the other.
If I'm playing a FPS then the X360 wins by a large margin on that aspect thanks to its triggers but the PS3 analog sticks are not that bad either and the face buttons, D-pad and the L1-R1 buttonscompletely obliterate the X360 controller when we are not talking about that specific genre. Games like DMC, Ninja Gaiden, Street Fighter and platformers in general are so much better to play with a PS3 controller than the X360 controller.
The X360 controller strong points:
1. more ergonomic
2. triggers
3. analog sticks placement { this answers your question, yes it is better

I made the comment this long because that the X360 has better analog placement is doesn't automatically makes it the superior controller, it all goes down to your personal preference... But I bet people will argue about how this site is full of cows when they see that the PS3 controller is winning the poll...
PS3, since its what I'm most used to. Really niether is a problem, and anyone who thinks it is is just a complainer.
360. It's more comfortable, so I can play longer without hand cramps. The sticks feel better. The triggers are better, and buttons in general. The only thing I don't like about the 360 control is how lame the D pad works. Hitting a diagonal or up and down can be a pain.
360. I mean, this is 2010, the analog stick is the primary movement control in 99% of games, there's no reason to have a dpad in that location any more.DJ_Lae
Reminds me of Ape Escape on the PS1. Couldn't play that game without both sticks.

I bought a dual stick just for that game!360. Because I got really used to the gamecube controls last gen and playing FPS's with the 360 layout seems naturalFunconsoleYeah. I used to love my Gamecube controller, although it took some getting used to at first when I first got it. I actually fired it up again the other day to play some Resident Evil 0, and getting back used to those controls were a mess. I guess I'm getting a little old to remember all these different configurations for all these different controller types!
in all honesty it makes such a small difference to me that I pay 0 attention to it. I suppose Id go with the PS3's though simply because I feel I respond faster on them, although that may just be there analogs overall loosness compared to the 360's.
360, most games are 3D these days so having it there is handy and more comfortable, even Nintendo knew this. D-pad is mostly for items/inventory these days so it can stay where it is.SaltyMeatballs
That ****ing achievement gave me premature grey hairs. I did the Super Mario style assassination 4 times before the game recognized it.
OT: I don't care. The analog sticks themselves are better on the 360.
360 controller. You get a better grip when your index finger and thumb are closer together, helps that the handles are bigger too. PS3 pad just doesn't give a good grip for me.
It's not a deal breaker for me though, it's the thumbsticks themselves that make the biggest difference, they are tighter and have a better shape on the 360 controller. If there was a 360 controller replica for PS3 I'd get one instantly.
