I would like someone make a game out of a book. Some science fiction like Hyperion which I'm reading right now(epic story btw). They should adapt a story and change some of its details so its gameplay compatible. That way we'll have an awesome story brought to life and all the while skipping that whole movie-to-game bullcrap which always ruins the original source material.PSdual_wielder
I think books are far more susceptible to being ruined during a medium transition. I've heard they're making a Runelords movie, I can't help but think it will be pretty bad. There have been some pretty fun games based on movies, perhaps not acclaimed, but fun.
The Hyperion Cantos is something that could only be destroyed by a conversion to another medium, and it would be a crime against humanity to ruin a masterpiece like that series. Dan Simmons is one of the greatest authors of our time, and the Hyperion novels are some of the best fiction I've ever read, and both the author and books fully deserve the many awards/acclaim they have received.
I would be completely on board if there was a way to guarantee that the quality would be preserved, but there isn't a lot of content that could be removed without compromising how epic that story is(and it is quite epic). Even if they limited themselves to just the first part of the story(the first two books), it would take a massive game to pull it off. Another set of books I think would make a cool video game if it could be done right is The Night's Dawn Trilogy, the idea of voidhawks is really intiguing to me, but again, I just don't think it is feasible to adapt stories that consist of several thousand pages into a game. I would love to see it though, so it could cut down on the number of threads which try and claim that the story of Halo is anything above average haha.
[QUOTE="Silent-Hal"]An RPG based around Terry Pratchet's Discworld novels.bf2nuttaDid you ever play the point n click DiscWorld games? No, though I was aware of them. Have they aged particularly well?
1st person Rome: Total War
Example: 2 armies are going at it, 1 roman, 1 barbarian. your a footsoldier in the roman army and you just have to cut through waves and waves of barbarians.
that would be so awesome

I would like to see a Warhammer 40k version of Battlefield, I think that would be a fantastic game to play!Grayden
Definitely. Although I would actually really like to see a new real(read: PC) Battlefield of any kind, no more of this console trash.

Books don't translate to MOVIE's very well, due to the length of your standard movie. Games aren't restricted to 2-4 hours of content and are frowned upon being that short. Please Log In to post.
