What are the best zombie games ever?

I think Resident Evil 4 captures the mood and feel better then any zombie game i ever played. L4D2 is also good but too short and all the one-hour campaigns are kind of dumb and pointless, no story, no care for the characters.

What game doesnt have zombies in it? :P

L4D2 is the best.

Dead Rising 2 I suspect will be really good, as long as they fix NPC AI. and the save system... or just make it less about escorting NPC's.

There is a new XBLA/PSN game coming as well called Dead Nation? I think. From what I can tell its like Zombie Apocalypse, but you can move along bigger maps, objective like L4D, survive til the safe house... only its a overhead 3/4 perspective view, opposed to a FPS like L4D.

I don't think any zombie (or zombie esc) game has gained more praise during its time than Resident evil 4.

This gen it would probable go to Left4Dead1/2 or CODWaW (zombie mini game)

Honestly I feel Resident Evil 2 hit it pretty well.

The first Resident Evil I played on my Saturn really left an impression on me, thatreally blew me away at that time. I also loved Zombies Revenge on the Dreamcast. What a fun co-op, underratedtitle! So minego like this:

1)Resident Evil (saturn)

2)Resident Evil Code Veronica(Dreamcast)

3)Left 4 Dead 2(360)

4)Both Resident Evil 0 & Resident Evil on the Gamecube

L4D has the whole movie experience into it. So it get's my vote.

As much as I love L4D series I have to go with Dead Rising since you can use any items as a weapons to fight off zombies.

so far only three guys agreed with me on Zombies Ate My Nieghbors. Awesome.

Dead Rising is imo, seeing as its like a zombie film in the typical sense that you are surounded by 1000's of zombies usinganything that comes to hand to keep them at bay.

played dead rising, low quality, and re4 does have zombies, just not the traditional ones.

Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 for me so much fun hours of laughter spent with friends playing that game

Dead Rising had the best idea for a Zombie game, though I didn't really like the execution. Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 are great also. I also love Plants vs Zombies.

I'd say RE4 but that was more of an action adventure game than a full fledge zombie game, but dead rising, now thats a zombie game!

RE4 didn't have zombies. Anyway I probably going to go with L4D2. Can't really think of anything else beside Killing Floor, but the specimens are not really zombies.

Oh there House of the Dead too. HotD 1 and 2 are just memorable to me. I really should try Overkill sometime. And there Burn Zombie Burn. So fun despite being hard.

Try playing Left 4 Dead 2 on the PC... It's hilariously awesome. Even though it doesn't feature a story, it still has a macabre sense of fear, and doubt, better then most other story driven zombie titles. And the characters are awesome wtf. :P

Resident Evil (1) by far. There was no such thing as 'fear factor' in video games until that one came out.

Left 4 Dead series and Nazi Zombies are my favorite:D
