And how important is the series to PS3 fans? i.e. was it a console seller, or just a good fighting game / nothing special

Tekken has always been Sony exclusive since the original appeared on the PS1 way back in 95 but i guess you could include the GBA one. But its never been on another home console or PC before so i doubt it will go onto the Wii or X360 but then again many people doubted DMC4.

You could argue that Tekken is to fighters, as Half Life is to shooters. Sony would be an absolute mess to let Tekken go (along with MGS).

The chances are slim at best,

A lot depends on what Sony has to say about it. Namco have done very well on the Playstation brand and not so well on other consoles. That said, they may consider a Xbox 360 port if the work would be easy, the audience willing etc. I have no doubt that if it was ported to the Xbox 360, it would sell. Namco would probably be thinking long and hard about that, especially in light of Virtua Fighter 5 coming to the Xbox 360 as well. However, like I said, a lot comes down to what Sony will do to keep it on PS3, and what MS will do to woo them to the "dark side"

The 360 has enough fighers (Dead or Alive, Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur (its coming), Mortal Kombat 3 (XBLA), Street Fighter 2 (XBLA). I would much prefer Metal Gear Solid to go alongside the Splinter Cell series..

Not likely,Namco hasn't had as much success on other consoles.

It would be horrible using the 360 controller for Tekken! It's a garbage design for a game like that.

Tekken going to the 360 i spossible.  Yes Tekken has primarily only appeared on SOny platforms, but guess what?  DMC4 just switched over, and also it has been confirmend that Ace Combat is making its way to 360 later this year and that if Im not mistaken is another Namco game that was previously only on Playstation consoles.  Ill say this much, if Tekken does go to 360, I will officialy be one of the stupidest mutha's for buying a PS3 at launch.

No... Street Fighter 3: Third Stike is to fighters, as Half Life is to shooters. I would love for Tekken to go multi-plat. It will give my fighting genre a boost. Depends on how many copies they need to sell to turn a profit, and whether they think they can sell that much on just the PS3.

I find it hilarious when people say things wont happen, cuz its never happened b4...... So new-born babies will never learn to walk, because they've never walked before???   wow good reasoning :P  NO Final Fantasy was on any other console other than a Nintendo System until FFVII on the PS1.....  please put ur brain in gear before you put ur fingers on the keyboard.

i think that eventualy the only exclusive titles will be first party and wii 3rd party exclusives. the increasing development cost of games means that multiplat is the only way that developers can make a decent amount of profit. wii will probably get exclusives because of the control system and the fact that a lot of wii games would never work on ps3, 360 or pc.

Id kick any of yalls butt with Brian FUry or Kazuya.  Too bad I cant prove it because Sony/Namco are too incompetent to get T5DR online with PS3.

But it will just annoy Tekken players if it goes to the Xbox 360 because of the controller.

I think it's unlikely that it will go over right now. Mostly because the arcade version of the game is being made based on PS3 Hardware.

I have a little news for you. Every Tekken arcade machine has run on a machine based on PlayStation hardware. Systems 11 and 12 are both based on the PS1, and Systems 246 and 256 are based on the PS2.

I strongly suspect that a cooperative agreement has been in place from the very beginning between Sony and Namco concerning this franchise, and I think Sony actually has some say about porting (which is why only one non-Sony version has ever appeared--at the time, Sony wasn't competing with the Game Boy Advance).

So far as I know, there is no arcade version, and the most advanced Namco arcade system on the market right now is Super System 256, a PS2-based unit. Most other manufacturers still in the biz (including Sega) have gone the PC route.

*sigh* of SF fanboy hows this: "Tekken is to 3D fighters, what Half Life is to FPS." If Tekken goes multiplat, Sony has lost a seriously important exclusive. For their sake, I hope tekken stays exclusive. And

...how? because it doesn't have 6 buttons like an arcade? the ps3 has the worst controller design i have ever seen. the only thing that sorry excuse for a controller is good for is throwing it at cats and hobos. for serious.

I think Tekken 6 will be the last PS series to go multiplat.

1) Sales have declined massively.
2) They're going to keep on going down. The series adds next to nothing with each installment.

The last Tekken game I enjoyed was Tekken Tag Tournament.

I would say as good as MGS and FF which could meen fairly good or not good at all. Namco already showed the 360 love with previous PS exclusive Ace Combat and Tekken has been rumored so no one knows for sure but I woudln't be totaly shocked at this point.

Its probably going to be the next game to jump ship. The sales have been declining as people have been saying.  The standerd fighting genre is on its way out. To Sony holding on to Tekken after VF5 abysmal sales may just not be worth it.

I liked the older variations of Tekken more then the newer ones. Kangaroos and Polar Bears have no business in a ring. I'd say there is probably an 80% chance it goes multi.

Tekken is not as big as FF or MGS (anymore, and it's no surprise really) so it's not the same scenario at all.

after DMC4, anything is possible i think it's quite likely now with IGN's hints but M$ will be focusing on trying to secure MGS4 and FF before they look at tekken so any port could be a while away if it ever comes
