I will be continuing my playthrough of Dragon Quest 11S! I love this game.. I think it might actually might be my favorite 2019 game (sorry RE2 and DMC 5). I think I'm about halfway through (39 hours in), and what impresses me most is that the game always changes things up a bit to make it refreshing. The story, the characters, the battle system, all good here. I think this may be my favorite JRPG of the gen too (but FF7 Remake and Persona 5 Royal might have something to say to that). My only recommendation is that if you decide to play DQ11, get the Switch version. It has very convenient features and is also great to play while you're on the go. Only downside is that graphics were downgraded, but they're still not bad. If they release the S version for PC, I'd be down to double dip lol. It would be awesome if they offered cross save with the PC version.

So how about you, SW? What are you playing on this first weekend of the New Year?

Cuphead. Currently getting my arse kicked by a clown and some baseballs. I got so very, very close.

Also, Total War: Warhammer II. Now Superman/Geralt approved.

Been playing a lot of COOP Onward doing basic terrorist hunt missions. Reminds me a lot of the original Rainbow 6/Ghost Recon games, been a blast even if the AI is somewhat wonky.

maybe I'll play Rage 2. I started it a week and a bit ago, the game is kinda boring so I'm not sure if I can stick with it but i'll give it a few more hours and see how it goes.

It's supposed to be a AAA game but it feels really unfinished and low quality at times.

yes, Rage 2 is a bit boring at first. But trust me, it gets better and it keeps getting better.

What you need to do is first hunt down all the arks (find a map on google with their location). Once you start getting more weapons and more superpowers, the game will give you so many options to dispatch of enemies and it becomes a ton of fun!

I'd also recommend visiting Kvasir soon in the game, because he gives you ways of hunting down the feltrite and money chests, which you'll definitely need.

The game is ace, stick with it ;)

@R4gn4r0k: nice, i'll stick with it. I love feeling more op as I play a game, this will pay off it seems.

Once you start getting more OP, I turned the game on Hard and it definitely helps. You start getting stronger and the enemies themselves are a ton more fun to fight in creative ways on hard. It forces you to think and stay on your feet.

You start to become such an unstoppable killing machine and that is when the funs begins.

This is the map I followed:

https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/3r7nWidJCeLdHjd7OtAYhIc_1Oo=/0x0:2365x2595/1200x0/filters:focal(0x0:2365x2595):no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/16293337/Rage_2_Ark_locations_map_watermark_copy.jpg

I just put it on my phone, while playing the game, and crossed them off as I went along.

The only ones I visited later in the game, were the two in The Wilds. You don't really need those two right away. but you will want to do the other ones ;)

The story has its ups and downs, but the mechanics are great. It's probably my favourite zombie game since Left 4 Dead! At least in survival mode, which is challenging but not frustrating....just fair.

I can see it being too easy and boring in any easier difficulty level, which probably explains the average scores it got.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Even at 13 dollars, it doesn't really feel worth it. Really don't understand why this extremely bland new formula is so popular.

Just beat Dragon Quest XI and not sure what to play next. Not really having that much fun with God of War; it's not better than God of War 3 in any way, shape, or form imo. I'll probably play a 2nd playthrough of Persona 4 Golden and jump back into Assassin's Creed Odyssey and complete it this time.

Death Stranding and Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, probably. Not too keen on either one yet but I'm not entirely sure what I'd swap them for. Maybe finally get back to Okami, start up KotOR, or go play the Blood & Wine expansion of The Witcher 3.

I plan to be tinkering with a bit of games development on an embedded device for the weekend as far as gaming goes. I got a device called an Arduboy: an open source handheld like another handheld whose name escapes me :p.

A gift from me to me for christmas.

...Well when i say games development i mean more "OOOOOH cool i made a thing move across the screen! Now how to make it go beep too." rather than making an actual game at this point.

Hopefully I can finish my first play through of Fire Emblem 3 Houses. The game is fun, but you have to do a lot of long, tedious bits between all of the fun stuff. It's probably my least favorite of the ones I've played, anyway.

@SolidGame_basic: I still wouldn't call it a bad game. It's just the worst I have played in a very good series.

I don't like "exploring" the monastery because outside of your first time, it isn't really exploration anymore. It's just glorified babysitting to get everyone's motivation maxed and it takes about an hour between visiting the shops, fishing, cooking, finding the lost items, and talking to everyone to figure out who the lost items belong to. A sleek interface that just auto-finds the lost stuff and lets you talk to everyone and perform activities from a menu would be a welcome addition for me.

The gameplay itself is pretty solid, though probably a bit too easy. If it's not your first Fire Emblem game, I would recommend playing on hard.

Funny you say that. I was thinking about playing it on hard actually. So here's my thing with that. I played Fire Emblem Fates on hard, and it was really difficult for me. I made it to the last boss and couldn't finish it so I ended up restarting on normal. Then I got Fire Emblem Echoes, and played that on normal. It was too easy for me. I rocked everything. So now I'm back to hard.

Three Houses has a mechanic that lets you reverse time to redo a bad move in battle. That makes things much, much easier. Plus, I got pretty deep into the game before most of my characters were unable to defeat normal enemies with a single attack. Normal also lets you grind battles so you can over-level if you need to. I am on normal, wishing I were on hard, so I'm not sure how difficult hard is, but I think the main thing is to identify who you want to go with early, start recruiting who you need to, and stick with your main characters. Part of the fun is probably playing around and seeing how characters scale for yourself, but the game is also really long, so if you are like me and don't have that much time, then online guides are nice. Also, the game does have a new game+ that lets you start over on a higher difficulty and keep your professor rank so a lot of the grind, at least hypothetically, shouldn't be that bad on subsequent play throughs.

Still playing the very addicting Slay the Spire. I own this game on my Switch and PS4. Thinking about hitting the platinum on PS4. Otherwise, I'm eyeing BotW or Mario Odyssey. Maybe Life is Strange 2 as my next game.

I'm kinda sick for some reason and need a break for my eyes so I'm going play a little of Rdr2 online. I have a leaky nose for some reason even though it's cold outside.

Also, I was sick a few weeks ago how I can be sick again? That is some bs.

Not much this weekend since I'm currently transitioning from Germany back to US. Headed to Ohio, bought my first OLED (LG C9) and had it sent there. Can't wait to get settled and set up!

Looking forward to playing Witcher 3 GOTY and Red Dead 2 on it. Probably shift from 4k gaming to 1440p 120hz. 4k even with a 2080ti is a waste of GPU power but upscaling on LCDs is terrible that I didn't have much choice. Luckily OLEDs scale better with supported resolutions. Can't wait!

@SolidGame_basic: What's this JRPG shit? is that what the cool kids call them these days, millennials ugh.

Calling RPG's from Japan is stupid, I wonder who started that stuff? I mean do we call racing games from Japan Jracers? of course not because its stupid, just like the individual(s) who started this JRPG stuff.

I've been playing RPG's since the OG Phantasy Star back on the beast known as the Sega Master System.

And as we all know Skies of Arcadia & Panzer Dragoon Saga are 2 of the best RPG's ever.

But I guess it does seem strange going from racers to rpg's as its very different.
