I beat Dragon's Dogma 2 last weekend and I loved it! Now I'm patiently waiting for Xenoblade Chronicles X. but in the mean time, will play games from the backlog like Rise of the Ronin and Hogwarts. What about you, SW? What are you playing this weekend?

Been sick all week. Just starting to recover. Hoping to get more game time in Hogwarts Legacy soon.

Also, I feel like getting back into Mass Effect and XCOM 2 for some reason. Already installed the first, hasn't fired it up yet.

Still playing BotW. Just beat the third of four guardians. Have collected 97 korok seeds, done 105/120 shrines and am ready to beat the fourth guardian and move onto finishing the game as its starting to drag on a little bit.

After 38 hours, I still have no idea how Red Dead Redemption 2 wants me to handle gunfights. Feels like moving with ball and chain on the character's ankles. I sluggishly proceeded with right mouse button pressed and camera wobbling over the shoulder and then one of Arthur Morgan's partners lightly busted through the other side of the store and immediately shot dead two standing on opposite sides of him. I've played fewer games with more of this disconnect. The evasion options are also shit.

I love Tony Soprano, but the character ruined everything. Far too many antiheroes followed, the majority of their writers not understanding that fine line and just making ugly unlikable assholes.

Currently playing GTAV Enhanced edition so gonna continue playing it this weekend but honestly, the Legacy edition to me was more better IMO.

You missed the true ending if you didn't defeat the hardest optional boos. I never saw the bad ending, so can't comment on that.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (360) - Have to say, somehow, the gameplay is worse than the PS2/Wii/Switch version. Moves feel a lot more delayed.

I'm trying Mafia Definitive Edition on Game Pass again... it didn't grab me the first time I played it but I'll give it another go. I enjoyed Mafia 2.

Also still dabbling in Forza Motorsport.

May give Test Drive a run for the money!! ;)

Check out the vid here.

Xbox Players Can Check Out These Games For Free This Weekend - GameSpot

Xbox Players Can Check Out These Games For Free This Weekend

Xbox is hosting Free Play Days with four games.

Microsoft has announced a new edition of Free Play Days, offering free access to four games starting today, March 6 and ending on March 10.

The biggest game on the list is Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft's popular shooter has entered its 10th year and Xbox Game Pass subscribers can check it out for free. It's especially good timing as the franchise is preparing for its biggest transformation yet with Siege X later this month. This game is also getting a bonus day, so it's available until Monday, March 10 at 11:59 AM PT / 2:59 PM ET.

AEW: Fight Forever and Test Drive Unlimited Crown are available until Sunday, March 9 at 11:59 PM PT / 2:59 AM ET. They also both require Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.

AEW: Fight Forever is an arcade wrestling game featuring AEW talent such as Jon Moxley and Toni Storm. There are multiple match types to play in, including four-way and tag-team, as well as other customizations options. It's a great game for AEW fans as it also has a career mode with over 40 weapons to choose from.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is the latest entry in the series and features a 1:1 recreation of Hong Kong Island as its main backdrop. If you're looking for an alternative to Forza or The Crew, be sure to check out Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown.

Finally, Born of Bread is free for all Xbox players until March 9 at 11:59 PM PT / 2:59 AM ET, meaning that you don't need a Game Pass subscription. This game is a turn-based RPG that follows a flour golem named Loaf as he explores the world with his friends.

That reminds me, I bought AEW Fight Forever for $10. Haven't bought a wrestling game in some time and I can't stand WWE (mainly just the McMahon's).

Coming towards the end of Robocop Rogue City. Still playing Cat Quest 2 on the Switch also.

Also picked up a game for the Switch called Void Chronicles.....for 99c. Just saw I had €2 euro on my Nintendo account and saw that so took a blind punt. Haven't started it yet. I suspect it's an example of the Infamous really cheap crap you can find on the eStore. But maybe it will surprise.

With all the Monster Hunter hype going around: I may get back into Rise or World again too (going to hold off on Wilds until it's finished basically).

...Assuming I get some time to play between 6 Nations games. C'mon Ireland!

Yep, all done Rebirth. 100% each area, so my next run I can just focus on the story and not the filler. It's really good, but the ending is hit/miss for people (more just confusing).

Not at all. I played a bit of the PoE games but they didn't really click with me.

Avowed seems like its aimed at new players to the universe, and has a nice glossary system in the dialogue so you can look up terms/characters etc. you don't know.

I think the game is a bit misunderstood - seems like those disappointed with it were expecting Obsidian's take on Skyrim, but really, its more like a Mass Effect game, especially ME Andromeda in terms of its structure.

there are big regions you move between, each one like its own mini open world, where you go around with companions exploring/doing side quests etc. alongside the main questline.

The combat is fun, art style is great, exploration is good, and its quite polished. The writing/characters are alright, but if you are coming from BG3, they are definitely not on that level.

If you mean High Rank then yeah everything hits harder and monsters are more aggressive, also have Tempered and Frenzy monsters to deal with.

But if you expected a Fatalis.. prepare to be disappointed. It's about as challenging as launch day World in 2018. While we may get some semi-challenging quests from events and the roadmap HR hasn't been difficult since the PSP days. & I doubt it'll pack a punch till a G-Rank expansion drops in late 2026.

@RSM-HQ: That's good. I'm not really looking for Soulslike difficulty. I just want there to be a reason to upgrade and prepare for hunts. The story part of the game was just so easy.

Working my way through Pillars of Eternity. It's a great game, a real throwback to the "glory days of yesteryear" in terms of the old-school, traditional "Western" RPG.

But it's also a bit of a chore. There is A LOT of reading and Obsidian does writing and story really well, but it's also not why I play games, so I find myself struggling through it.

Unfortunately, I've recently adopted a one-game-at-a-time process of playing games in order to focus and finish on a game, but I might have to give up on PoE because it's a pretty grueling experience.

Not the game's fault, mind you, and I can't recommend it enough if you enjoy that kind of game...I just think I've outgrown the genre.

Going to give it the rest of the weekend before calling it.

Yeah RDR2 felt more like work than a game.

Agreed on the anti-hero bit, too; feels like for a while every cop was an alcoholic or womanizer but did bad things for the right reason so it was OK, but that's sort of...not actually good, it's just justifying your bad actions lol.

If you want a badass hero, just make them unapologetic. You don't need to skirt the line and make them a bad guy doing the occasional good thing to somehow make it OK.

I'm actually playing PoE right now after playing and beating Avowed, and no...not a requirement. It feels more like a "bonus" or supplemental material or something, like you hear certain names or references in PoE (or vice versa) and you're like "Oh, haha, cool. Some backstory to that thing in that other game" but that's about it.

Outside of existing in the same game world, I don't think they are really related.

PoE is super super dense, just some warning in case you want to play it. Half the characters on the screen at any given time (like, for each level) have like two pages of text to their backstory and it doesn't even really factor into the game, it's just story and NPC background. It's cool, but it's a lot of reading. You can just go from person to person on whatever level you're on and if their name is gold, you get a neat little story to read.

It doesn't help the music sounds like a lullaby, either.

Some of the music is good but a lot of the generic "walking through the level" music is like sleepy-time music. Couple that with reading a lot and it really does sort of make me want to nod off.

@with_teeth26: @mrbojangles25:

Thanks for the info guys, I started playing it today after wrapping up The Veilguard earlier this week :D

Question: I want to be a fighter (I love first person combat in games like Dark Messiah or Chivalry) but then I'd also like to use magic tricks and a bit of arrow shooting on the side.

Is it advised to start spreading out your skills? Or is it just best to stick to one archetype?

@RSM-HQ: That's good. I'm not really looking for Soulslike difficulty. I just want there to be a reason to upgrade and prepare for hunts. The story part of the game was just so easy.

Low Rank is targeted to new players, who for the most part want to brute force the game, and see the credits. Best of both worlds situation, as they know many of MH mechanics and features are going over new players heads. Not to come across as mean-spirited but MH has many systems and the average player has a low attention-span, so LR is to have people just kill easy hand-holding monsters.

It's way more on-rails and cinematic in Wilds, catering towards that crowd.

High Rank opens up and offers way more variety but more importantly is you're now free to do what you want. & that includes hunting High Rank Apex monsters in which you cannot SOS flare for in the beginning of HR so it's a nice lil challenge itself.

The higher your hunter rank is, the more intense the challenges. It's not going to compare to the toughest of Monster Hunter games, but High Rank just doesn't compare to G-Ranks anyway.

End-game Monster Hunter commonly gets compared to Dark Souls but I would say killing Elden Rings Malenia on your lonesome is far more doable than soloing Icebornes Fatalis. Not just because its a far more complex fight, but because MH has time restrictions on its toughest hunts. & for older hunters just the mention of 'Apex lvl 140 Rajang' is enough to make even the most dedicated Hunter break a sweat

I was 100% melee and found myself using about half skills from the ranger/rogue tree, and half from the fighter tree. I think I had one or two from the wizard tree as well.

I think the game definitely encourages you to dabble and spread those points around.

The only advice I would give is decide early on what weapon/s you want to focus on, and build around that.

I think everything is viable, though. Initially it was a bit off-putting because games tend to really hammer down on "specializations" these days, but I grew to love the sort of vagueness of Avowed's skill trees because it didn't punish you for trying out other stuff.

Only thing I would 100% recommend is put two points into the ranger/rogue's cooking (or whatever it is called) skill; those food buffs are no joke, talking like 20% damage mitigation, 5-10% damage increase, etc. and they all stack.

Also the upgrade system for equipment is pretty great, so if you find a magic item early, you can sort of keep it with you the entire game.

@SolidGame_basic: Hey brother, Dragons Dogma 2 is in my backlog. How was it?

Im enjoying Jedi survivor, a run through Indiana Jones at max settings, and as always some good old Halo online with veteran friends.
