Sim City 2013 makes this list for me all the time. I was so hyped for that game before it launched and then it turned out to be a disaster. And we haven’t heard from Sim City ever since lol. How about you, SW? What are your least favorite games of all time?

Definitely played some super shite games back in the day. Especially in the 2600 and NES days.

Might not be the worst I played, but Bad Street Brawlers is the first that comes to mind.

Loading Video...

The gameplay, the art, the music, the sound design, all trash lol. I had also just gotten the Power Glove, what a time for L's.

Shoutout to Bubsy 3d of course.

For a more modern game, the first Assassins Creed.

Assassin's Creed. Any of them, but especially the first.

Amd I'll probably get torn to shreds for this, but.....S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I mean, the atmosphere is great, but damn that game was a chore for me.

Hour of Victory. It's a world war 2 first person shooter on the Xbox 360. The enemy AI is laughable and the guns sound like crap. I encountered a glitch in the final mission that prevented me from finishing the game, but that's OK. I played enough of it to know how terrible it was. I don't know how I made my way through it without vomiting up blood. It's the worst game I've ever played.

Yeah in hindsight it's like sure of course it's terrible. It's Ass Creed, says it on the tin.

But at the time, aside from being straight up bad, was also just so disappointing. Ubisoft could seemingly do no wrong. A stealth action assassin game from the makers of Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia? How could this be anything but amazing?

lul

Somehow none of that Ubi DNA came through. As if they had never done stealth, combat, or platforming.

Rare for a bad game to stick with me, but still have vivid memory of the night I got it.

Crysis 3 is the only game I finished that I was beside myself for playing.

Plenty of other games I started and refused to complete because of how I enjoyable they were. Ex: Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories remake.

Battlefield 2042 definitely comes to mind.

I already wasn't too hot on BF V's live service, where overpromise was the word that I feel is best to use to describe their lofty plans and ambitions.

But BF2042 doesn't even have lofty plans or ambitions, it's a let down in how little a developer can care about its own IP.

And they even cancelled Mirror's Edge and Battlefront live service just so they could work on this abomination.

I'd have to go with (I'll go with the last few years)

Deathloop (worst "10/10")

Saints Row (the last one that is woke AF)

Wanted Dead (probably the worst game I've ever played)

Sea of Thieves

Avengers

Watch Dogs Legion

TLOU2 (2nd worst game ever)

Note, not all of them are bad, some I enjoyed, but standouts for me...

Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii) - Still baffled how this glorified mission pack sequel got high scores it did. I had way more fun with Sonic Colors on the same console. Yeah, a sheep acknowledging Sonic won this time over the plumber... after SEGA hardware got nuked out of competition.

Zelda: Twilight Princess (GameCube) - Man, that long of a wait and I had less fun than Wind Waker (which I love). Chalk it up to being disappointed due to generational closing I guess as I was more envious of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (yes, I know they are different games, this was my thinking at the time) being on then next gen tech. However, been many years since I last beat it, I'm due for a revisit (I have the Wii U HD version, so will get to that... someday).

Pokken Tournament (Wii U) - Not Tekken x Pokemon. Actually it's a little bit worse than that considering it's pedigree (involving Katsuhiro Harada). And I have fun with a lot of PS2 and GCN era anime licensed games. Controller for the game is cool though, closest I have to a "fight stick" and got some decent Street Fighter, DBFZ, and Power Rangers out of it (may need some tweaking though).

Sonic 06 (360) - Just playing the demo is vom...

King Kong (DS) - Didn't own this game, friend let me play it from their DS collection and dear god, so awful, didn't ask them to even loan it so I can beat it.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (GameCube, PC) - Ugh. just so tryhard and edgy per 2000's. At least something like Shadow the Hedgehog, which is a worse game, it's something I can laugh at. And at least games like BloodRayne was built off that era's edgyness, while not great games, still fun in either a "blasting Nazis John Woo style" or more simpler hack and slash way. POP was something else...

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja 4 (PS2) - UN3 was damn fun. This felt a step backwards especially in single player content with an action adventure mode that make the PS2 era Mortal Kombat's Konquests look like a piece of art. Main fighting game mode is still decent... if only unlocking that side of the content in single player was FUN!

Worst: League of Legends: It felt like a more shallow DOTA, and even then. I didnt like DOTA to begin with. It also has microtransactions up the ***. 15 dollars for a single skin? It also helped accelerate the MOBA trend.

Dishonorable mentions

Oblivion: Thank you so much for popularizing DLC.

***** ****: First game I actually deleted off my steam account. Didn't even ask for a refund. Just wanted this piece of garbage off my Steam account. Constant copy pasting enemies and layouts, from both itself and from previous entries made for a very unfun experience. Combat mechanics were poorly balanced and feel massively played out at this point.

Ragnarok Online: This game is likely the reason Korean MMORPGs were a sea of garbage for so long. The game explicitly wastes your time in so many ways, such as forcing you to play a class that can only auto attack for the first 10 levels. And just annoys you in so many others, such as forcing you to play as your irl sex (while also locking equipment and classes behind this).

Man... I seem to hate RPGs, so here are a few non-RPGs

Uncharted 1: Drake's Fortune: Everything I dislike about AAA gaming was represented in this game. It didnt help that the gunplay was a complete bore.

Assassin's Creed 2: I didn't play the original. But this game made me tired of Open World games before even Skyrim released.

BioShock Infinite: This game took Uncharted's mantle as being the representation of everything wrong with AAA gaming.

Least favourite is tough since I don't tend to think about those games very often.

Driving sims like Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo I always found insufferably dull compared to more arcade racing games, so maybe those would count?

I also hated playing the Ori games, especially the second one. I just found them incredibly annoying and frustrating. mostly cause i'm terrible at those types of games, but I think the mix of the cutesy sort of art style had me expecting a more relaxed experienced, but then the punishing combat/platforming made me particularly have a bad time with them. I just think that entire genre isn't for me tbh.

I don't know about the absolute worst, but i DESPISE the Destiny franchise, and i have played the original for hundreds of hours, so i know its gameplay loop very well. The way the drip feed you content is soooooooooo bad.

Of course, i can't forget RE8, RE3R and Outriders. This trio is such trash that i wish i could go back in time, and skip them all.

Objectively speaking, my least favorite games I disliked so much I likely shelved them never to bother to play with them ever again and they're so far removed from my mind I probably can't even recall what they are.

@hardwenzen: it's weird to hate Destiny given I too too once spent hundreds of hours on it, had to force myself to uninstall it and never touch it again, just because it was by itself keeping me from playing and enjoying other games. Thankfully I never had the same fixation with Destiny 2, I tried returning to it after several expansions and it just feels weird jumping into it now with all player progression skills being unlocked right away and campaign content being archived in a weird way where players can't experience its development in any kind of structured order. Well, not going to hate on it but instead be relieved it won't be sucking up all my time like it once did.

It was an mmo from day one. An mmo, as i see them, is supposed to give you the highest amount of varied content of any genre. Instead, you had nothing else but a couple of easy dungeons to run through until the expansion comes out, and adds 2 more dungeons. It was the worst endgame i've played in an mmo. There was simply nothing on offer to someone who plays daily. All these years later, their content support is as pathetic.

Devil May Cry 2 is pretty garbage, actually one of the worst games I've played.

Earthfall, it's like Left 4 Dead with aliens but with no soul, weakass feeling weapons and annoying characters and bad AI.

Travis Strikes Again was just really boring and it felt like the levels just dragged forever. It lacked the humour and satisfying combat of the main games.

Assassin's Creed had its moments, but got really tedious and repetitive over time.

Yeah, game is pure cheeks. There's this weird kind of distance when you play it, like a glass barrier between you and the actual gameplay, if it even existed. Probably the most half-assed stealth I've ever witnessed.

Halo 2 and Diablo 3. They are such a letdown compared to the previous entries. Same with RDR2 and GoW2018. I tried to play Warframe once, and I just don't get the appeal.

We all have games that we don't enjoy for one reason or another. Maybe they're too difficult, maybe they're not interesting, or maybe they're just plain bad. Whatever the reason, there are certain games that we all agree are not worth our time.

So, what are your least favorite games of all time? Let us know in the comments below and tell us why you didn't enjoy them.

Assassin's Creed Origins comes to mind. When I realized that the game was essentially broken if your level is too low I joined the F*** Ubi club.

Alan Wake . Lame gameplay, crap voice acting / dialogue , bland visuals.

Enjoyed the opening hours of BotW ... then started to hate it after leaving the plateau.

I also quite dislike the modern tomb raider trilogy.

Yeah that Dragons Lair play looks garbo. Don't think trial n error gameplay is always inherently bad, but seems like that's all the game is. Even if you mastered it, would still be a snore to play.

Yeah, not sure who the game was for, or why. You can imagine how dissapointed child me was, playing it after looking at the cool boxart and neat graphics. The only game I've taken out of the console and thown into the wall. Probably my first ever game rage.
