a price drop maybe? just asking a question I own all three consoles Tnasty11
Dont think honestly there is much they can do. They continue to appeal to their same audience time and time again with software releases etc. Price drop might bring in some stragglers but the overall Impression of the 360 is its the "Shooter game box." Microsoft hasnt really done anything to change the view people have of it either.
With Japan fully on the side of Nintendo right now, probably nothing.
But the 360 can close the gap with a well-timed price-drop of at least $50 that coincides with the release of Halo 3.

a price drop and halo 3 will mean that the 360 will prob be in the lead this fall
I think, sadly, that MS has "pulled" a Dreamcast, and released too early, so early in fact, that it has run out of steam to compete.
I think it's a bit of a shame, as they could have spent a whole year working to make it better.
The thing is, it was good to own to begin with for hardcore gamers, as they wanted a powerful, advanced console (a whole year ahead of its time), but now it's just had to stop relying on that factor alone, and it's finding it hard to simply compete.
A shame, quite frankly, as the console itself is very good.

Nothing. A price drop (which is overdue anyway) would certianly spark more 360 sales, but I don't think it would slow down the Wii demand. If MS is smart they will keep doing what they've BEEN doing. There is no point jumping the gun to crush the Wii when there is no proof it will work, and there is not yet any evidence that the Wii is going to be more successful than past Nin consoles at selling 3rd party titles.
LOL at those who said a price drop wouldn't help. WHAT makes you think THAT isn't the critical component of the Wii's success? I don't think a price drop could come soon enough, and if they could drop the price of the core below $200, I think there would be a major shift in the tide of casuals rushing to the stores to buy Wii's right now.THETRUEDOZAH
A nice example of extremist logic.
Nobody is denying that a price drop for the 360 won't increase sales. The issue at hand, is if a price drop would be enough to stop the Wii's massive sales. I personally doubt it. I also believe that the Wii and 360 or different enough, with a diverse enough base, that it is hard to believe somebody wanting a wii but then chaning their mind purely because the 360 is reduced.
People buying the Wii are interested in what teh Wii is offering...motion control and some fun games they can't get elsewhere. Nobody buying the wii is buying it in hopes of getting an Oblivion port and would buy a 360 instead if only it was cheaper. People buying the Wii or 360 are doing so because that is what they want.
Now, speaking for myself, I bought the Wii because it was cheap but also because I buy more than one console every gen anyway. I am perfectly happy with the Wii and it is enough to hold me over until the other two drop their prices enough for me to dish out the cash. SO I'll probably get the 360 anyway, when the price drops, but at no point would the price drop have affected my desire for the wii.
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Increase the demand for the 360 beyond that of the Wii... :|if people like you would quit being so close minded against the xbox platform just because it is made by microsoft....
How they could do that I have no idea.

You may be able to say that about Japan, but why does that have to be the only reason? Yes, all non-360 owners hate Microsoft. That's it.
Maybe they want a budget alternative? Or they want more pick-up-and-play or party games? Or maybe they want to have a new way to play a game? Or maybe 360 games just don't appeal to them?
Longshots, I know, but who knows? Just maybe...

I'm sure MS may be able to do better in Japan next time. They've got it right with launching early to try and convince the Japanese... However, they couldn't convince them. Right now, I don't think MS has a chance in Japan with X360.
Why does MS need to stop Wii from taking the lead in order to be successful? It seems to me that the Wii was designed to sell lots of systems, and not compete head-on with the Xbox 360 or PS3.swamprat_basic
They most certainly don't. MS has much different long-term goals than Nintendo. I'm pretty sure they would be happy with just beating out Sony.
keep releasing great games.tree-branch
hasnt seemed to help so far. Wii is steamrolling the world and expected to take Worldwide lead in july. Doesnt matter how good your games are if they are essentially the same genre everytime as they are just gonna appeal to the same players everytime.
Yes, all non-360 owners hate Microsoft. That's it.Last_StandI own a Wii, and I don't hate microsoft :P Aside from that, IMO its really not understandable to me as to why the 360 isn't selling as well as the Wii. Wii a gimmick? It wouldn't be selling out to this date if it were...unless, well I dunno. 360? Great console. Who knows what could be keeping it from the great sales? And Halo 3? While a very hyped up game. I doubt it'll drastically pull 360 ahead of the Wii. Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Metroid Prime 3, 2 expected games for the Wii. Releasing sometime soon if i'm not mistaken. Maybe not this summer, but maybe in the fall? I see the competition next year as... neck and neck between Wii and 360.
] lol i used to have 2 xbox 360s, but not had a 360 since november only a wii, but that means i dont hate them...Yes, all non-360 owners hate Microsoft. That's it.Tryxer
