Launch an on-line service first, and start making VC games have on-line MP. W/O any form of achievement system on top of what I listed, I don't think it is possible. I never thought it was possible from the get go, though. XBL is the best IMO.
copy it exactly and make it free. Same thing the PS3 could have done. Except Home was way more than I was ever expecting....
So I guess copy Home and XBL and make it free.
No.SyluxEliteno what exactly?
[This message was deleted at the request of the original poster]nintendo-4lifeNo, all this stuff is just a start. Actually having on-line, on-line VC games and an achievement type feature is just the start. Then they'll need demos and the other media features are just out of Nintendo's league. I don't like PS Home, but that kind of blew Miis out of the water as well, unless they make them appear in more games in interesting ways, not just as your character. I just don't think it is possible to steal the On-line crown from XBL.
Here is what they are doing:

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GameSpy, a unit of Fox Interactive Media, announced today that it will provide multiplayer technology to game publishers developing titles for Nintendo's Wii video game system. As part of an ongoing partnership with Nintendo, GameSpy has developed middleware technology to enable Wii titles to offer community features, such as friend rosters, advanced matchmaking capabilities and comprehensive rankings data.
"This partnership will expand our wireless community of players on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection," said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "Millions of Nintendo DS users have already logged on using GameSpy's technology, and now Wii owners will be able to do the same in a fun and easy-to-use environment."
"Nintendo has been an invaluable partner and we look forward to expanding our relationship with them in the future," said Jamie Berger, Senior Vice President of Consumer Products and Technology for IGN Entertainment. "Our goal is to extend our ground-breaking work on the Nintendo DS to provide Wii users with the social, community and multiplayer tools that we believe will expand the online gaming experience to the mass market."
Pokemon Battle Revolution, the first Wii game to utilize the technology, launches on June 25, with multiplayer features similar to those leveraging GameSpy technology in several Nintendo DS titles.
Prior to this development agreement for Wii, GameSpy and Nintendo brought gamers wireless community options for Nintendo DS. The service provided an innovative network for portable video games, allowing people around the world to link easily and wirelessly to play games. The partnership represented GameSpy's first foray into portable games.
Will this make it as good as, if not better than, XBL? I don't really know, but it's something anyway. :)Â

everytime nintendo or sony come up with something, everyone always says "yeah it's cool and all, but it's nothing like XBL", so i ask this question, what can nintendo do to make it's online service as good or better than XBL?nintendo-4lifeI don't know that they can do to make it better, but to make it as good they need: Online Wii games Online VC games Achievements system Verbal chat Downloadable demos Downloadable content (bonus if it just doesn't unlock something already on the disc) I don't expect Nintendo (or even Sony) to achieve online as good as XBL. But, I'd be happy if Wii online was simply fast and friendly. It'd be nice if the friend thing worked as simple as clicking on my friends' Miis and within seconds we're playing together.

Still won't match up. I like the system, but you can already connect your iPod to 360 and play music while in-game (even PS3 can't do that yet) plus you can stream media from your PC.
i'm not talking about realistic responses only, GO WILD!!, think anyway for nintendo to make this connection as good or better than X360'sIt can't. It won't. Why bother.
