Sales are going down and i don't see any reason (in the near future) for them to suddenly jump up, So what does Sony need to do now to make it more appealing? I don't want to hear "Wait till so and so game comes out" At the rate the PS3 is selling most "so and so" games are going to be on other consoles! Ideas?

How about a bundled bluetooth headset, and a price drop? That would be a step in the right direction. And they should also bundle it with at least component cables.  And they need to bring out a rumbling sixaxis pronto.

the price drop or a solid bundle are the only things I can see boosting its sales but sony will not do anytyhhing until more time has passed the hit on the hardware and small library isn't enough to risk selling more systems to people who won't buy games. If things continue like this until christmnas then I can maybe see one of those 2 things or both happening.

first of all, your wordplay is lame and PS3 is appealing, its just a matter of opinion. Xbox 360 is not appealing to me, but thats just my opinion.

i know i'll get flamed for this but video game consoles are toys. (i play them all the time, but its true) to create a toy designed to be an entertainment hub is a mistake. they need to shift all their attention to new innovative games. not home

Well i don't think the 360 is very appealing either BTW but there is just too much hindering the PS3 right now. I mean when Media outlets who never cared about gaming before report on how "bad" that PS3 is doing..well something is wrong.. You didn't like my wordplay? Dang that took me all night!

Well, the bulk of the gaming press, even on this site, are having this conversation wheather or not you agree.

True but alot of the press was questioning the need to upgrade this time last year when the 360 didn't really have a compelling game that was not on another platform Cod2 and oblivion arguably the best games at this time last year on 360 were also on PC. Yes I know it had other good games but nothing compelling like say gears of war or even dead rising to really make people want to jump in to the next gen People just seem to put a bigger emphasis on the ps3 because there is competing consoles and they are the maket leader.

I believe in the long run sony will be fine they may not win this gen like they did previous gens but they do have a system that once its library starts to mature will definatly compete and offer a good experience to those who purchase it. I'm sure sony wishes its sales were betterat this stage although they won't admit it but to risk an early price drop or something where they would lose even more money when the library isn't there could mean handicapping them later on once they do start to get a better library.

Right now I think they are wisely spending on dev support and features like home that devs can use to help enhance the upcoming library instead of trying to grab as much early marketshare. Like I said earlier if the sales don't turn upwards by christmas or early next year then I could see them doing a price drop earlier than they would like to stimulate sales.

Drop the price. Seriously, the reason the PSP is near dead is because Sony refused to lower the price, doing the same with the PS3 means suicide.

a price cut, a game that ends up being above average (or 30 of them,so they can catch up with everyone else), and less time spent on crap like home which is going to be a huge waste of time imo

Sony isn't the market leader anymore, and saying that "well the 360 had good games this time last year, but they were also on PC" ignores the fact that Microsoft gets a piece that action too.

market leader from this gen you know what I meant(by this gen I mean ps2, xbox, GC since the ps2 is still sellin and coming out with games it is only fair to take that into consideration when I talk about market leader in consoles). My point about the games being on pc was that people didn't see compeelling games to make them go out and buy a 360 at that point. You bringing up the fact Ms makes money off games for windows would be like me bring up the fact that sony is still selling a boatload a ps2 yes its good for the company to offset losses but has nothing to do with ps3 or 360 sales.

Price + better games library. Every generation, this has been the formula for the winner. A reasonable price, and a healthy games library.

When more games start to come out, PS3's are gonna start flying off of shelves.  Prob is right now, they don't have a really good game for every catagory, and one of the biggest things missing right now would be a RPG ( oblivion should help this catagory )  But they need a JRPG as well, but really the key factor is more games, and it will start selling better + a $100.00 price drop would def help, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I'm sorry but that not may even help at how it is looking at in Japan. Wii is stocking piling on those cutesy Dragon Quest Esque RPGs now. Not to mention Wii seems to be the front runner to get Dragon Quest X if they move it back to consules.

And how White Knight and FFXIII look like they will not be out for a very long time(Year plus for White and about 2years for FFXIII)

1, dump Blu-Ray therefore making the console $400/$350
2, fix up all of the odd issues such as not being able to download and play at once
3, put rumble in the controllers
4, add Home built in
5, fix the online service
6, appologize profusely to consumers and developers for Sony's stupidity

Remove BR, lower the price to $300, 100 page document stating they will never pull another PS3 again, 50 page document apologizing and more good games.

Oh, lets not forget rumble.
