My computer is starting to get a bit dated and I'm sort of new to the PC gaming side of things. I have a 1.60 GHz, AMD Athlon Processor, and 224 MB of RAM left on my PC. The computer was built in 2005. Is this enough to run some good older titles like Command and Conquer Red Alert, Quake, Half Life 2, and Starcraft?

It'll run those games you listed, except Half-Life 2.

Half life 2 would need a semi decent graphics card. But yeah the others are old enough to run easily.

All except Half Life 2. You'd also be fine running games like Diablo, CS 1.6, and Warcraft 2. All classics IMO.

I'm kind of a PC tard. I'm just learning about them really. I have always played console games until now. Anyway, in my system info it says ... Sis Acclerated Graphics Port, and Sis 900 based PCI Fast Ethernet Adaptor.

no most games require 1g-2g now. some even higher better cpu and gpu would need a complete overhaul for that.

His computer has a 1.6 Ghz processor... which is outdated but could play some newer games I believe on the lowest setting.

I'd say that's safe. You can always check to see if your pc can run a game by going to http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

Well, that's not entirely true. Most PC games atm require 512mb to begin with and have 1gb as being the recommended. Stalker for example (on the box) is a recommendation of 1gb but a minimum of 512mb. Battlefield games are the same way. Most PC games atm are like this (including Half Life 2) and should be for awhile with the exception of some few (Crysis being a huge example). He could play some newer games but on very low settings. Probably not that many either.

I used to run half life 1 on a 16mb graphics card, which was pretty decent for its time.  I also had an dedicated voodoo graphics chipset (aside from the agp graphics), but the framerates werent much different.

is you precessor an AMD Athlon XP 1900+? that uses a pretty old socket...I will assume you have an AGP video card port...it sounds like you have on board graphics, you should buy an AGP graphics card(can get a decent one for like $50) so you can run anygame released 2002 or before...but you can buy a new pc that might serve you better for like $300-$400 but again Half Life 2 might be a stretch in either case

With that machine, you're pretty much set for old school PC action.

Wondering, what's your video card?

I checked out that link which is really cool by the way. It looks like my computer is good on pretty much everything except RAM and Graphics Card. I need to either buy another PC or buy these seperate I guess.

I will assume you have a case and a monitor

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145040 CORSAIR XMS2 1GB (2 x 512MB) $81

http://cgi.ebay.com/Asus-M2N4-SLI-MB-Athlon-64-X2-4200-AM2-Dual-core-CPU_W0QQitemZ250113328647QQihZ015QQcategoryZ80139QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem Asus-M2N4-SLI-MB-Athlon-64-X2-4200-AM2-Dual-core-CPU package $176

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130062 EVGA GeForce 7600GT 256MB $90 after mail in rebate

$176 + $81 + $90 = ~ $350

not bad you still would need a power supply but you can find 1 for pretty cheap and this system is pretty nice you could even get two of thos video cards and SLI them
