I'd have to go with MS being the most in need. As the new leader with a pretty lackluster 2008 lineup compared to the competition this would be the time for them to go big or go home. If they had a lineup of games like 2007 they could have very well put the nails in the PS3's coffin, but it looks like they'll never get the chance with the season of 'meh' that the 360 release schedule is for '08. They really need a Halo (though I think it's an uninspired generic shooter it drives the heck out of sales) or Mass Effect type title to keep driving hardware sales. As it stands now their installed base lead can only shrink.
I honestly don't think Nintendo is competing for the same marketshare that MS and Sony are fighting over so I don't think they have a care in the world. They're set and nothing's going to change that aside from a 360-like failure rate cropping up amongst Wiis.... which I just don't see happening.
The titles Sony really needed around launch are all getting around to releasing this year. This along with the price cuts and blue ray supremecy pretty much ensure a major comeback year for the PS3.
Microsoft. Nothing coming this year on the 360 is interesting.Taalon
Although I dont agree with you that there is no games coming out this year for the 360 I do agree MS has a lot that they need to be showing off. If MS doesnt show some new games at GDC then they are a bit behind in their library building.
This year is Sony's equivalent of MS's 2007. MS has a few good games announced to be coming out this year but nothing new has been announced since 2006 really. So unless they announce new titles the PS3 may overshadow the 360 a bit, especially if Killzone, MGS4 and LBP meet expectations and Home takes off.
I don't know what people expect to hear from GDC... it's just a conference for Game Developers that isn't primarily focused on much of the software side of things but rather the tech and hardware of the systems and for sharing of ideas and dreams from dev to dev.
Frankly, I'm not hyping or expecting anything, that's what Summits or E3s are for. Though I'm really excited in hearing what the devs prospect and ideas for the future of gaming are hoping to be on many levels that revolve around the technology of the systems and software development... as I do want to be a game developer.

GDC game announcements have become more common through the years so its not really far fetched to expect high profile games like Gears 2 or KOTOR 3 to be announced, especially if they are showing off new tech and ideas since its there to inspire and influence other developers.
btw what job are you wanting as a game developer.

sony does for sure, but they are such an embarassment to gaming that they willl just suck it up the ass dipper145
how are they an emarrasment exactly?
Sony had the best GDC last year by popular opinion.
Sony had the best E3 last year by popular opinion.
Last i checked Microsoft had the better 07 by popular opinion.
GDC is not going to be alot of new games being shown, maybe a few but nothing big. I expect bigger games shown at E3 or whatever.jg4xchamp
I think MS may have the most new games shown at GDC just because they need more games to fill in their 08 lineup and E3 isnt till July and thats almost half way through the year. I could be over reacting a bit I guess though since MS still has Fable 2, Alan Wake, GTA 4, RE5, Saints row 2, and a few more that I cant think of right now. It just seems that MS should be announcing some 2008 titles since there hasnt been an announcement since 2006.

Sony is going nowhere but up right now with their big titles coming out this year so I dont know what your talking about.
gdc= game devolper confrence, in other words its not knows for big annoucments of tech, rather sleeper hits announcments, tech info and game dvelopers to talk to each other. E3 for shows and e for eveyone..man i'm glad they have e3s now sorta....LibertySaintYou are mistaken my friend, it is also used for marketing. Remember last year? Sheep were so disappointed with Nintendo where Miyamoto just talked game philosophy, while cows had big smiles because LittleBigPlanet and Home were announced at the conference.
Nintendo really needs one, at the rate they are going, they'll be bankrupt. Look at all the shovelware on the Wii.112505
Nintendo is rolling in money right now because they make a significant profit off of every unit sold. Nin may have some things it needs to take care of but money isn't one of them.
