Even the most simplistic looking game could use a lot of processing power. There are a lot of factors involved, most of them unknown to us. So we better should save ourselves the assumptions.

It was a tech-demo. No one promised a realistic Zelda. The first reveal of the actual build was already cell shaded. And that has nothing to do with the topic.

Well good sir, Cell-shading is a difficult technique that can be implemented by coloring in the individual cells in a character blah blah blah.

I'm just kidding, I have no clue.

I prefer some cell-shaded games over realistic ones.

Well, Miyamoto changed his mind. Get over it. Really, what are you trying to argue now? You tried to say cell-shaded equals lazyness, and you were proven wrong. You moved to "processing power" and were proven wrong again. Now you move to "what a game was meant to be", thing that no one cares. What are you trying to do, honestly?

also in terms of ww again compared to zelda 64 there were a bunch of dark themed themes that went on in zelda 64. gannon semed a lot more evil, the adult wold seemed alot more depressing. The cartoony graphics of WW were not able to have thee fealings.

Are you kidding? Hyrule under the ocean was so damn epic. Seeing everything stand still and the whole atmosphere of that place was almost magical. That beat OoT's adult world by faaar.

Ganon looked evil regardless. That fight with him in Wind Waker *holds flame shield* had way more emotion than in OoT. Heck, even TP had a better final boss fight.

The game got a 10 in graphics in most review sites/mags. A lot of people (like the ones in this thread) admired (and still do) the game's graphics. Do you honestly think that achieving that it's easy?

Of course, if it worked well, why wouldn't he?

The appeal of Crysis relates to this also. The artstyle and technical graphics work well together. Imagine if instead of palm trees, lush jungles and beaches that we got boring corridors in some office apartment shooting up terrorists. The appeal just wouldn't be the same.

And Assassin's Creed had higher system requirements than Crysis.

I love cell shaded graphics. Zelda WW too me was like a saturday morning cartoon. With a great story. And you can play it... In the end it comes down to taste. But i don't see why your saying it is easier to make Cell shaded graphics, and that the devs are lazy. I mean for a mario game, you want him to be realistic? Haven't youv seen what mario would like like if he was real. Rather disturbing.

OP is so ignorant.

First off, Low poly models are harder to pull off because you have less to work with.

Secondly, good cell shading (as in finely tunes and not slapped on) takes work.

It seemed to work out alright for such Wii titles as Madworld, No more heroes, and Paper Mario, not mention gamecubes Zelda Windwaker, all very popular games.

Uhh you do know that Zelda for the 64 was cartoony graphics too right? They are two different styles but they were STILL CARTOONY.. If you some how think the game was realistic you apparently don't remember alot of the characters in teh game..

I love cel shaded graphics. Look at Prince of Persia, personally my favourite game of last year AND the game I think looks the best this generation. Just beautiful.
