Poll What do you think of Watch Dogs series? (33 votes)

I love it! 3%
It's good! 21%
It's okay! 76%

I was only interested in it after the mind-blowing trailer! but after the downgrade, I just didn't care about it that much!

so I want to know your opinions about the two games? and are you excited for legion?

I’ve only played the first game and I enjoyed it well enough. It wasn’t amazing or anything, I like the Grand Theft Auto games more, but I did have fun with it. I never played the second game, not because I thought it was bad, I just never got around to it. Legion looks pretty cool with how you can basically play as any character. I wouldn’t mind trying that game.

I don't want to be mean but for me "Meh" depicts the series perfectly.

I got the first at launch and had to force myself to beat it. The game was boring as hell which turned me off of the rest of the series.

I think it provides a very interesting insight into Ubisoft's game design process. First game was criticised for being too self-serious, with characters that had the personalities of two-by-fours with faces scribbled onto them. So all that feedback got fed into Ubisoft's algorithm machine, and out came the sequel with its light-hearted tone and cast of infuriating smug millenials with multi-coloured assault rifles.

Which is a complete waste of premise. A game about technological interconnection and corporate power could be a base for some truly interesting narrative, but that should be explored through normal people, just trying to get by in a world going down the drain, not some Batman wannabe in a trench coat or a bunch of wisecracking hipsters. Basically, it should have been a cyberpunk game.

The third game seems to be toning down the light-heartedness a little, but it's making the same old mistakes. The characters sound like freaking Monty Python meets Eastenders, and I rolled my eyes when one of the trailers showed the main villain being based out of the freaking Tower of London. So yeah, I'm not expecting much.

Just modern day assassins' creed but far less interesting.

Ubisoft want thier own version of GTA.

It's good not the best open world games but the first game is actually pretty great despite Ubisoft being scum and downgrading the graphics for console parity that really left a bad mark on the series and I don't think it ever fully recovered. The sequel sold worst then the first game I love the dark tone of the original WD's and the combat is underrated. As for the sequel it's just ok nowhere near as good as the first game but what makes it fun is calling the police on NPC's or sending a gang hit on them.

You can do some really cool shit in the first game surprisingly.

I played a couple of hours of the first game when I got it for free. Got bored and uninstalled it. Nevertheless, it had a cool concept for its time and the protagonist, while cheesy, was interesting at first glance. Never even considered playing 2 or Legion. They seem boring as hell.

I got the first game and I just didn't like it at all. Never beat it. Probably didn't even make it a 1/4 way through and never looked at the series again.

It's decent. I enjoyed my time with the games. I'm one of the few that played and beat the first two. The second was definitely better.

I think they're both fine. Both cities feel atleast as alive as GTA5's Los Santos and the characters control much better then GTA. Driving is worse though. Hacking is kinda cool at first but gets old fast. I'd give them both roughly 7 out of 10.

I prefer the serious tone of 1 to 2. Not against a lighter tone just don't like 2's execution of it. Have very little interest in 3 atm, but if I can find it for $10 or less might give it a try some point.

Loved the first one.

Felt gritty, raw, nice gameplay, from start to finish.

Second one didn't like it.

Too silly, not gritty enough, didn't like the characters, didn't like the "anarcho-punk" vibe to it.

The first one had more of a "noire" detective story vibe to it which I liked alot.

I don't think I will buy legion because imo the first game was what the Watchdogs IP was all about, and having played it and enjoyed it, everything that came after so far was lame and only can serve to ruin my memory of the original.

Oh and I also liked Watchdogs way better than GTA V (or any GTA so far, which just keeps getting more ghetto and sillier as time goes on.) It doesn't have that grittyness to it anymore, it doesn't feel like "true crime." It feels like Saints Row where you beat the shit out of somebody with a 3 foot long dildo. Too much comedy/slapstick. "yo ni66a yo ni66a" it's boring.

Not saying the hood is boring, it doesn't /have/ to be boring, it /shouldn't/ be boring, but in GTA V they made the hood boring. The hood should be filled with "true crime" and real gritty drama, but somehow in GTA V this is not the case, they made it too silly, too comedic.

What's really missing in gaming is real seriousness. Real drama. Grittyness.

It's all just slapstick comedy. With purple aliens that go "tink tink." And gangsters that act like clowns. Too childish.

Games like Watchdogs, Metro, Alan Wake, these are the games that give you real grittyness without cheap jumpscares.

I enjoyed the first one for its gameplay. The AI was actually decent, and you get some interesting tools abilities. doing things like hacking grenades to blow up enemies or hacking electrical panels/vending machines to cause distractions was a neat idea.

the story/characters were bad but easy to ignore. some missions stank (like hacking tailing missions where you jumped between cameras to follow someone... pretty boring)

The second one turned me off with its annoying characters and dialogue. didn't play much of it.

Legion looks gimmicky and I can't say I have high hopes for it

It's not a bad game, it's just not good enough to justify being one of Ubisoft's big titles. Would much rather see another game in its place.

And frankly we have too many open-world games as it is.

With that said, Legion does look pretty awesome.

It's Assassin's creed with shooting, driving and hacking. I was hyped for the first one,Ubisoft made some great trailers for the game. Too bad the game was generic repetitive main and side missions.

Games are simply Dull...in comparison to say GTA, tho i wonder regarding legion how close the next gen patch for the PS5 version will match the fake trailer initially shown.......probably would need to be built from the ground up on the PS5 to match it.

I find them incredibly boring games. The gameplay loops are so repetitive and it just feels like I have done it a thousand times before, though perhaps GTA is to blame for that.

3/10.

These games are made for people that play random shit just because its popular, not because its good and worth playing. All the ingredients of how not to make an open world game are present in this series. I would gladly play Big Rigs over Ubisoft Dogs 1 and 2.

@hardwenzen: Pretty much.

Rayman seems to be the only thing they haven't fucked up in some way. And i'm guessing that isn't so much down to their restraint as it is them not figuring out "how", yet.

I enjoyed the first game, but I didn't care for the annoying characters and SJW millennial themes of the second game. I forced myself to finish it, but I regret doing so. The second game has ruined the series for me. I will be getting Legion for free with my RTX 3080, but I am not hyped for it at all. I will give it a try though.

I think it has a good core concept. Namely a GTA with a much more interactive city. But the execution has not been great. The games are very bloated with mediocre content.

I also thought the sequel was worse, which was disappointing. The car chases in particular were downgraded in a shocking way.

First Watch Dogs was thoroughly mediocre. The world was sterile and generic, and a lot of interactivity was canned, so possibilities of emergent gameplay were pretty much nonexistent. For instance, you could "hack" stop lights at an intersection to make them all green, and the cars were programmed to immediately accelerate into each other. It's sort of funny the first time you do it, but it quickly loses its charm, which is a pretty good description of the game in general.

Extremely boring.

I was surprised, it seemed like it could be cool. Then you see the map with 1000 icons and every one is boring. I dunno how Ubi puts in so much work and ends up with boring shite 95% of the time. It's astounding. Interesting for maybe an hour, then snoooooze. Seriously amazes me how people can stand to put actual play time into those games. Why? What keeps you going? Do you really have nothing better to do? Honestly.

Those are the questions i ask myself every year.

Now, i understand everyone has their own taste in gaming, but ubi games (open world ones for the most part) are like working at gamestop in 2020. It is so bad that the "everyone has their own taste in gaming" does not apply.
