I personally think it would have had to be pikmin one for the gamecube, the gameplay was absolutely superb.

No one is responding because there hasn't been a single well done RTS for any console in history.. RTS's belong on the PC.

Star Craft 64, Split Screen was a lot of fun despite the FR drops.

The first console RTS that I enjoyed was the LOTR one. I haven't played many RTSs for consoles though I usually play them one PC.

QFT.

While there have been a few of them they have all sucked horribly. The simple fact is no controller designed to date has given developers the freedom they need to create intricate control schemes. You need to have everyone using a mouse before you'll see decent RTS on a console as they can't design the interface around both and a mouse is never standard.

Populous on the Genesis/Super NES. You could also make a case for North & South on the original NES.

C&C on the N 64 worked well enough to be playable... that's the earliest one I can think of that I experienced

Starcraft 64. I liked the way it automated drone selection to build/repair/mine and others shortcuts not available on the PC version.

Or because he correctly answered his own question with Pikmin.

Yeah, but CnC3 is getting almost no dev support for the 360 and it's horribly unbalanced in it's current form. It controls really well though. My best experience would be LOTR:BFME2 for 360. CnC3 is a bit better on the controlling side, but as a game itself it lacks balance.

I never played a console RTS because they don't really interest me as much than with the PC version.

Command and Conquer on the original Playstation was a great title. It was a good way to show console fans what type of games were played on the PC in the mid 90s.

There is no such crap as RTS on consoles, only a couple ports from PC.

I think problem with the 360's rts so far as even on pc they've simply not been good...I've played lotr bfme2 on pc and hated it, vs a Company of Heroes or Dawn of War on the pc I just found it so meh. I think World in conflict could be interesting...since its not a base builder. Also Civ Revolutions should work because its a turn based game so speed doesn't matter. Dunno if it'll catch on to the consoles though.

Is Command and Conquer for the 360 worth getting? My PC is pretty old, can't handle new RTS games. I'm still playing Sudden Strike, lol.

I'd say Command & Conquer for the N64. It actually had pretty good control.

Is aybody out there old enough to have played a game called Dune Battle for Arrakis on the Sega Genesis? That game was absouletly amazing, it pushed the system to the limit and is one of my all time fav games, look it up.

For me it was Dune II on Sega Genesis. I played that game for hours upon hours. I never did get to play Herzog Zwei but its clearly the father of the genre on consoles.

That's Dune II, the first one was for the Mega CD, and it combined RTS with Adventure, and as a "Dune" game was better.
