That looks about right, although Mass Effect could replace Halo 3 as the 360's 9.5 for the year. Both are getting AAA though.Gamer556

I'm fine with ME getting 9.5, but I just don't have time for those kinds of games. It takes a lot of effort to get into those games. They are worth it if you have the time though. Halo you can pick up and play whenever without needing to remember who you spoke to and what you need to get next.

I respect that, but Halo3's gameplay is superb. It is a bit of the old, but when something is great already and you make it even better...you have no choice but to give it a higher rating. graphics looks great (not Bioshock great, but great). So really it comes down to if they see it as some of the same old stuff or an improvement on an already excellent format.

Did they really improve upon it though? and if so, how much? I'm know for a fact Halo3's gameplay is improved/tweaked quite a bit over Halo2 MP. So to me I see it being a good thing.

Now if they just did a Halo2 with graphics updates and new maps then yes it should get dinged. But so far it looks like it's improved in all areas while keeping the basic Halo greatness.

I can't believe people's lack of faith in SSBB over SMG. If people were to go out and check the updates, and all they have added to this game, it would be very hard not to give this game AAA.luigigreen

Yep, you could be right.And that would be a shame. GS reviewers are getting a bit too old and forget that there are new gamers that never played HaloCE. As I said above, if Halo maintains the great feel of halo, but improves in all areas I think it deserves a very high score. You know it's hard to make a game improve on its already stellar gameplay while keeping the same gameplay at heart. If bungie pulls it off, it's 9.5 to me and I'd hope the reviewers at GS see it the same way.

Well both those are SINGLE PLAYER ONLY. Add MP to the mix and you have the extra kick to knock it up to a 9.5.

Edit: Also, if it brings in online play that's not laggy and involves some sort of rankings, then I don't see how this game could not get aat least a 9.0 on GS.

Tell that to Metroid Prime 3. It controls MUCH better and yet the 8.5. The main complaint was that the game is too much like the other Prime games. Halo looks EVEN MORE like the other Halo Games (which is a GOOD think imo).

But it's Gamespot, they will give it a 9.0 because it's halo. :roll:

I would have agreed with you a few months ago, but after seeing all the toys Bungie has packed in to Halo 3, I think it has a good shot at a 9.5. Adding Forge and a video editor to an already fantastic multiplayer game will provideendless replay value. Anyone with a copy of the game will be able to make their own game modes and fan movies. The possibilities are endless.

Oh, and let's not forget about 4 player co-op, which could be the best multiplayer experience this year.
