Cant say hardware/graphics. If your gonna pay $400 for better hardware get a PC.
No new features at launch to separate itself from the PS3. Just a new OS that is incredibly laggy.

@multipass35: Make a PC for $400 that will look half as good as PS4 games.
Pro-tip: you can't.
Also, you don't need features (read: gimmicks) to sell a new console. Sony's internal devs will push amazing new design, physics, and other things in game that were simply impossible last gen.

400$ upgrades.
New PC type architecture and new world class exclusives, that everyone knows that Sony will get.

The thought of Naughty Gods and Santa Monica studios getting their hands on the most powerful video game console ever created in the history of video games?

Using that logic pretty much every console ever made would fail.
I dont want a PC, i want a PS4.
Stronger hardware that will allow some of the best developers in the world to create amazing art. The console simplicity at 1080p

You can't assume someone else's situation. Stop trying to.

Assume what?
That pretty much everyone currently has a PC?
Things that cam to mind -
Every Sony studio is currently making a game for PS4 , and that can't be said for PS3. The shift is in motion.
This is easy. Overheating and a lot lower performance than expected. Most of the PS3s didn't overheat and shutdown.
Of course Sony has tried to address this with a downclock (lower performance) and an increase in fan speed (more noise).
Funny how there were rumors about an XBox One downclock and it was actually an upclock. I guess the rumors were about the wrong console.
That small case with an internal power supply and tiny fans wasn't a very good idea was it Sony? Now they have less power and a louder box. Brilliant.
The PS4 was already CPU bound on games because of the GDDR5. Maybe they should have considered balance a little more. The downclock to try to lessen the overheating has made it worse.
Enjoy your PS4s guys. Knack and Killzone: Ridiculous Amount of Fog to Cover Up the Lower Level of Graphic Details should make you happy. Oh, and the crappy exclusive Indy games. Too bad about all the multiplats being better on the XBox One. Guess you are used to that from the PS3 vs. the 360. Except this time the difference in power is much larger.
You can discount anyone who says a game on the XBox One will have lower resolution or framerate than the PS4. Not going to happen. Even on launch games.
Doubt me all you want now. Try to hang on to your illusions about the PS4 being more powerful. After November 15th (or maybe right before), you will know I'm telling the truth.

Exclusives that will look much better than anything the ancient PS3 can offer, obviously.

Ouch LOL
Also no not really. Well the PS4 offers a little more, but nothing really that the 360 doesn't already do.
I didn't know that the 360 had the ability to record, and share your gameplay with your friends.
I didn't know that the 360 allowed you to play a game, while it's downloading onto your harddrive.
I didn't know that the 360 allowed you to spectate your friends game, and at the same time, allowed friends to spectate your gameplay.
I didn't know that you could visit the marketplace over your cell phone, and purchase things in the store, and have them to download to your console, so the item can be ready to to play by the time you get home, or wherever your console is at.

joel_c17 has marked this as the Best Answer.
The main appealing feature of any console is always games for me. I would like to think it is the same for everyone, but when I see many threads about hardware with users affiliating themselves with something and doing their best to improve their reputation and defame others, I start to wonder. Do not misunderstand. I know the value of hardware, but without products to utilize that hardware, it is just a paperweight.
New games
I want to play
KH3
FF15
New ND games.
GTA6
RDR2
and whatever new IP's come out.
PS3 can't give me that
This is getting ridiculous now gamespot please bring back the levels, anybody can make threads and were getting useless threads like this.
From kids who haven't got a clue, system wars has become an absolute joke with the amount of rubbish thats coming out now.
What is the ps4 got what ps3 hasn't i mean seriously uif you don't know you don't deserve to be on these boards, you could say the same from ps1 to ps2, there no difference except a dvd if we don't take into consideration the hardware.
ps3 256mb ram / ps4 8gb gddr5 ram, right there shows what next gen is going to be if they can make games as good as the last of us at the end of the gen what can 8gb of space do.
We need the levels back to control this

Like, wow us with these amazing features?
Just so we are all clear......... No one gave a legit reason. The number one answer was "graphics and hardware". After i already stated in the main post you cant use that because simply put....... you can but a $400 PC that would run circles around the next gen consoles.
People are willing to spend $400-$500 (depending on what edition you bought) on a PS4 when in reality they could wait and get one cheaper when the real IP's come out. All those big time exclusives you all are praising wont be out in the first year. You have zero new features at launch to set yourself apart from a PS3.
Xbox One on the other hand....... Has Ryse (Current Graphics king and GameCon winner for best console Graphics), Forza 5 (E3 winner for Best Console Graphics), Titanfall (Holds E3 records for most awards and nominations). Dead Rising 3 (Best selling zombie franchise since the original). Killer Instinct, ALL exclusive DLC for both COD:G and BF4 2 months advance first on Xbox One. (Those are the top two multiplate games for next. 500GB hard drive full? Ok off load it in the cloud. Gaikai? TBA not expected to be fully funtional until 2016 or later.......
Just the facts children...... nothing more.

I would like to add that you can take over a friends gameplay session also gakai when ever that is finished
