But 2 L4D games, Alien Swarm, Portal 2, and hundreds of updates for CSS/TF2/DoD, with the announcement of Dota 2 and CSGO....isnt disappointing. Not much apparently. How many years ago was the last Half Life game/episode?
Valve is probably my disappointment for a developer this generation other than maybe Lucasarts.

I hear Gabe owns a majority stake in Valve, so some of the money flows to him. Rest of it probably goes into retained earnings.
I don´t know, release three or four AAA games so far this gen, even without a full new Half Life? I´d say they´re doing better than the majority of developers out there.
Not to mention steam and all the awesome deals it has and the support that theyb give to their games, very few devs do that,at least at that extent.

In the last (nearly) five years they haven't release anything Half Life.
Portal 2 is neat and all but doesn't cut it for me. And the Left 4 Dead games are technically made by their subsidiary. And I have zero interest in DOTA....for a RTS game I prefer Civ or Starcraft. Plus, DOTA 2 isn't even out yet so not sure what that has to do with anything.

Well, i dont like Half life myself to be perfectly honest.[QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]They were once my favorite developer but not even close anymore. Well, i dont like Half life myself to be perfectly honest. They are far too focused on Steam. Developing isn't their #1 priority anymore. They are a huge disappointment. And like I said they were once my favorite developer.Well, they probably pay royalties and such to the publishers that put the games on the site, pay for maintenance on the office and the website, budget for their games, pay their employees, and put all the income and stuff in the bank or some place. enterawesomewhy would Valve pay royalties to the publishers or developers? They pay Valve to put their games on steam.
I would just use the steam forum for that :P http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1189They do awesome things with it...
Off Topic: Is there an official forum on GS for Steam Games trading? I have just found out out about it and have aquite a few games id like to trade butnobody to trade them with

It has been four years since the last Half-Life Episode, if the game is not out next year that means it will have been in development for a total of five years. For comparison the time span between Half-Life and Half-Life 2 was six years. I think Valve failed on the whole "episodic content" thing, no?
Might as well ask that about a lot of companies that make a boat load of money, but who never seem to invest it more in gaming. Or invest it in making more risks.
Hell, look at Blizzard for instance.
Fans use the old--they put out few games, because their games get as close to perfection as possible. I just call it laziness, especially when they haven't tried anything on a new IP in ages. The same is applied to Valve(except the new IP). These companies have enough money to form development teams capable of challenging the quality and quantity of titles found in companies such as Nintendo. Yet, they don't do it at all. Nothing wrong with that, personally, after all, it's a business.

My guess would be that Gabe spends his portion on cake and prostitutes, but that is only a guess.

Great job, u just delayed HL3 by another 4months.
Darn, but I guess that gives me four months more to not finish HL 2 or its episodes.
I reiterate, Valve has just been rehashing the Source engine, not making completely new games. All those games you listed are practically just mods of HL2.EvanTheGamerWell then, i suppose that every single unreal 3 engine game is just a mod of Gears of War since they all use various versions of the same engine, right?
