TGS 2008 may have brought in less press, but it attracted more of the everyday gamer. With nearly 200,000 people on-hand to play game demos until they could no longer stand, there was no shortage of opinions. According to some research, CESA and the Mainichi Newspaper found out which game attendees were most interested in. To no one’s surprise, Monster Hunter 3(tri) came out on-top.

Exactly. :D

Now if only MHT would come to a real next/current gen console. Then I'd have a reason to be excited!

See what I did there? I used Nintendo's own claims of "new gen" to justify my own means!

Well, that also shouldn't be too surprising, when you consider a few things:

Japan's growing popularity within american (and possibly world ?) pop culture.
Video Gaming's growing global popularity.
And of course, the worlds fastly growing population.

But then again, I think number 2 there has the largest effect. Over the past few years, more and more people are getting involved in video gaming. And with the boom of the wii, pseudo-gamers (if you will) have been hitting the scene, showing more and more interest in gaming.

Be that a curse, or a blessing, it is definitely not hurting TGS attendance :P

That's actually a nice way to look at things. People that bought the Wii for what we like to call casual reasons might get more interested in (again) what we like to call core gaming.

See people, Wii isn't so bad after all. embrace it:D
