this game didnt change how i looked at FPS but it got me hooked on them GoldenEye007 for the N64!
Metal Gear Solid 4. Up until then I always thought Stealth Action games were boring.VanHelsingBoA64
i'm with you too, now i play mgs4, and games like vegas and graw also, but mgs4 started it for me. and need for speed underground changed the way i looked at racing games, and pro evolution soccer and madden 06 changed the way i looked at sport games, and halo-2 changed the way i looked at run and gun shooters....and finally pokemon sapphire/ruby changed the way i looked at rpg's..
that's all i can think of righ tnow..
FFX. The game was at my friend's house and I decided to borrow it because I heard of it but I really did not think I would enjoy it. Boy was I wrong, FFX turned out to be one of my favorite games in my entire life. :DMr_Cumberdale

Halo 3 has caused me to change my thinking about FPS games. The last time I played Halo 3, it caused my system to RROD (2nd time). Now whenver I play a FPS on the Xbox 360 I think, gee, will this game kill my system?JohanJuurkenoph
lol
Mario 64 - Mastered 3D and took platforming to a whole new leve.
Metroid Prime - Mixed FPS elements with a high degree of puzzle solving, RPG elements and Adventure.
Zelda OOT - Took the ADV genere as far as it has been, influenced so many of my favourite games.
Zack and Wiki - Point and click puzzle adv game with Wii controls, genius
RE4 - Survival horror/adv interactive cut scenes and transformed the RE series.
Starcraft - still the only RTS I dont get sick of.
Eternal Darkness -Horror puzzle adv. amazing game... between this and RE4 completley changed what I expect from horror games.
all in some way improved their respective genres for me and changed my expectations.
SMG was the first platform i buy in a long time, i think it was the first since SM64 and totally love it, the game introduce me to some crazy levels that i never imagine in a videogame.
The Orange Box was the first FPS in a loooooooooooooong time and totally love it too, dont know why but i think that this game is the way every other FPS should be, great atmosphere, great story, and of course great characters.
And maybe World of Goo, the game implements some great music with clever puzzles, i dont know but i really love this game too.
Mario 64 changed the way I saw games in terms of perspective.
Mario Galaxy changed the way I thought about the definition of a platformer.
Half Life 2 changed the way I thought about interactive storytelling. (I played HL2 before HL1  )
Halo changed the way I thought about health systems in games.
None really. I guess Halo 2 with online, I never before saw it as a social thing, but more so realistic bots before, lol.
But beside that I'd guess I'd say FF7. I'd also say whatever the first game with a true goal andend was, but i dont think im old enough to know that, pretty much started with those games (nes was my first console)
But I guess I'll list some highly different games: SM64, Halo, FF7, Morrowind, Fable 2.
Not really crazily radical games, but they just had things in them that made me go "Seriously? Really? Wow"
