Metroid Prime does have a completely new overall feel thanks to the Wiimote...
Bungie has finally been able to do everything they wanted to do in a Halo game...
Add some extra lighting, bloom andsome wii controls and BAM you have Metroid Prime 3. Calling it a step forward from it's predecssor would be an overstatement, more like a tippy toe to the side.
Seeing as I've never played MP3 or Halo 3, but I've played the first two, I'd say that easily Halo 3 has it in the graphics department, whereas Metroid Prime 3, to me from screenshots and in game footage from demos looks no better than the very first Metroid Prime for the Gamecube.
Second, the controls, I have no idea, I'd imagine if done right the Wiimote could be nice... but it's yet to prove itself to me. Also people have complained about the controls already. But I can't hold it against it, since I really don't know.
In general, Nintendo has never added anything greatly new to an established franchise, and I don't feel they will do so again. So in that regard, and personally feeling Halo 2 was a great step in the right direction over Halo 1, I'd give this point to Halo 3.
So on at least 2 points, I personally vote for Halo 3 being the bigger step forward.
I'm looking at MP3 as more of a step backwards.Douja555
not true. try to keep it real, even in system wars
Neither seem to be a big step forward.
Really, a new control scheme for MP3 isn't a step forward simply because of the fact that it's on a new system where that's the standardized controller. That would be like saying PD0 is a huge step forward of PD because now you can move and aim at the same time. :|
But the fact that Retro was the one to perfect the control scheme is a big difference (from what the media says anyway). Plus, Metroid Prime 3 has a lot of different features from the second one, between stacked beams, no more "drop a bomb to jump" in morph ball form, there's voice acting, graphics are improved, your ship has a heavier role in the game, and there is use of WiiConnect24 in the form of an "achievement" like system.Neither seem to be a big step forward.

On the nail
Definitely Halo. MP3 will be another single player adventure game with new controls.
Halo3 will be a single player, 4 player co-op, serious multiplayer, and mess-around multiplayer game. I also think customization in multiplayer will be cool. Save films and forge are completely new additions that are going to be really fun to use.
Even if MP3's controls are great, I think Halo3 adds much more on to Halo2 than MP3 to MP2.

Ya but MP3 is supposed to be the first game to really get the controls down right, hopefully making it the best way to play FPS on consoles. And going from the n64 controller to the xbox360 controller is not the same thing at all then going from the gamecube controller to the wiimote. Don't even try to justify that.
halo 3 looks pretty much the same as halo 2 ... multiplayer is always an essential part of the game
with more cars, few more guns
MP3 ... if it suddenly had online, it would have been the true revolution to the title and for nintendo ...
but they missed that part
well the wiimote that offers some renual, i think it's obvious ... it's a good point
[QUOTE="Douja555"]I'm looking at MP3 as more of a step backwards.l-_-lThen you just don't understand the concept of forward and backward.
What's wrong with you people? He was making a backtracking joke...
Jeez.
I absolutely love Metroid, and especially the Prime series, but I voted for Halo 3. MP3 just isn't looking any different then previous entrys, and the control scheme is necessary so I don't consider that a real change. And after watching gametrailer's MP2 vs MP3 graphical comparision, I kind of think all MP3 did was make everything more blurry...
Neither games are huge leaps forward, but both will still be solid titles.
Even if the motion controls are somewhat necessary, considering the Wii's standard controls are with the Wiimote, it doesn't mean it's not a step forward if it turns out great.
I still think Halo3's added features make it the bigger step forward, but I don't think we can just disregard the new control scheme because the game is a Wii game.
MP3 is the last hope to deliver a great First person experience on the Wii and will hopefully suced in creating a standard for Wii shooters.
Halo 3 is improving on Halo 2 in terms of single player aspects and improving the online aspect as well.
I'd say MP3.

Didn't see this I guess...

As for the bigger step forward from the predecessor, it's hard to say. But as far as which game has the most content and the one I will more than likely be spending the most time with, it's Halo 3 hands down. If the online co-op syncs up right, and the multiplayer is as fun as the beta, I see myself not having much of a life for the next few months. The customizable armor and replayable+shareable movies, and Forge games will add even more variety to the mix. Not to mention a great single player experience.
MP3, I would be looking at a great single player experience with new controls... and that's it. :|

you forgot about
forge and save film which has never been done before in a console game. brand new single player. Matchmaking which pits you up to people with similiar skill to you. new weapons. new vehicles. new maps.
what does metroid have?
new controls? Halo has that too
I honestly see very few new things new with MP3. The graphics are a very small upgrade. The controls are only new because its on a new console. Maybe a few new weapons and abilities?
Halo 3 is sort of the same. Pretty good improvement in graphics, a decent amount of new weapons. Forge andl oads of new maps. 4 player co-op. More stuff that I'm too bored to point out.
Halo 3 wins.

You've got to be kidding me right? You are comparing a game that uses a system in a completely new, perfected and intuitive way to a game that uses the same everyday FPS controls? Trolls...
MP3 controls are something brand new. They will finally show developers how to do this and finally show that Wii is the system for FPS's.
What about Metroids maps? The whole game is new maps! I imagine that if you tried hard, you could point out much more for both cases insted of saying something like "The controls are only new because its on a new console" when H3 is also on a new console as well and it is still the same basic controls.I honestly see very few new things new with MP3. -being able to attack enemy's with the morph ball
-being able to control your ship and call it in for bombings
-multiple planets
-wiiconnect 24 stuff
-new controls - needs to be mentioned twice! rly makes a huge diffrence!
-backtracking actually makes sense
-voice acting

-the whole phazon powerup corruption thing
-team mates help in combat
MOTHER BRAIN!
Metroid Prime is taking a step backward, graphically it is no better than the first Prime game on the Gamecube which I own.Click_ClockI love how you emphasized that. And that, in conjunction with the rest of your statement, leads me to believe that you are either a troll, a fanboy, or already instituted into a mental asylum. Edit: I know you are a fanboy. After taking one look at your profile, I could determine this. You gave Zelda: TP for the Wii a 1.4

ROFL
Ah that was rich, anyways, I think Halo 3 is a bigger step forward, while Prime 3 brings a brand new control scheme, Halo 3 brings some cool changes to the gameplay and the graphics look fantastic, I dunno though, we'll have to see when both games come out.
