What game would you use to represent gaming to a group of mature people?

I personally would use one of these 3:

Medieval 2: Total War. This is game has extremely large scale strategyon both a tactical and stragetic level, and looks great. Although I'd choose Empires: Total War if it was out.

Mass Effect: This game has a great story, is very well designed (minus those elevators) and also looks great.

Half Life 2 + EP 1-3: These games are argueably the best FPS games ever made. Certainly they are some of the most story driven and well designed/balanced. I know EP3 is at least 2 years away, but do you really expect it to flop?

What are your choices?

Mature people? I kind of think im mature. Im going to be 37 soon and have a wife, and 2 kids. I think that qualifies as mature. BUT if you are talking NONgamers, I would show the in all honesty...Wii Sports Bowling..Its awesome and easy and everyone likes to bowl. The "mature" people I have shown that to end up playing for 4hrs straight..

Civ 4, as a far reaching strategy game that requires a LOT of thought, and also has moral choices such as Fascism/Democracy, capture city/raze, accept enemy surrender/annihilate them.

Bioshock, amazing graphics, sound, atmosphere and story. Really original and incredibly striking. Gameplay isn't so great but they're non gamers they won't know that :P

Forza 2/GT5/whatever, a racing sim to show people the level of detail and realism games can go into, they aren't all run around shooting aliens.

In truth, anyone can be mature. There are mature kids, and immature parents.

That said, I guess the people concerned should be non-gamers.

Operation Flashpoint or Armed Assault.

As mature as an online community can get.

I'm gonna assume by mature you mean lame adults that are like politicians or work normal jobs who think games kill people, i'd show them these games to possibly change their minds a little.

Metal Gear Solid 4
Final Fantasy X
Super Mario 64 or Galaxy
Shadow of the Colossus or Ico

Can't think what else right now.

Something like Peggle for women and GT5 to men.

Seriously, those "mature" people who don't play games would be lost with something like Total War, Civ4 or Mass Effect, I doubt those games could catch their interest.

Speaking of God of War I luv the scene in GoW2 when the statue of the sisters of fate says:

"You will never find peace for what you've become Kratos"

and Kratos replies:

"I'm what the gods have made me!"

That line had so much badassery in it :D

Bioshock would probably be the one game I would show to someone who thought games were poor as an artform.

SOTC and Ico would be too minimalist. Those games wouldnt do a good job of drawing someone who doesnt like games in because someone with a negative attitude to games would invariably dismiss both ico and sotc as minimalist before any chance was given for them to enjoy it.

Similarly okami's artsyle-while excellent is perhaps too divergent for mainstream tastes to appreciate at a glance.

Yeah, I think games like Okami and Ico can only really be appreciated by experienced gamers.

That said, it has occured to me that Audiosurf might be a good choice.

mature people? No person is perfect, you are acting like being mature is a holy thing when it's not. Nobody and I mean nobody escapes from immaturity and that's what makes us humans, we are not perfect. And whenever a person tells you they are more mature that you do me a favor and flip them off please. A lot of people in the world use the maturity excuse as an excuse to think they are above everyone else and societies around the world view that as a truth( wow I really went off topic)

Wii Sports-If we're talking about mature as in age, just about every casual falls for this one.

Civilization 4-If we're talking about mental maturity, this one will definitely impress them. Unless they're the sort of a mature person that doesn't believe in "altering the very fabric of human history for foolish trifles such as gaming." :P

Half-Life 1 or Half-Life 2+episodes-Depends, 1st impressions may not be that great (I know I wasn't that impressed with HL1 when I saw it being played for only 10 minutes, took at least an hour to really get into it) but if they "get" the story and the mechanics, it's definitely going to leave a good impression on "mature" people.

if your talking about people that have never had an interest in gaming, and never really gamed before, it would have to be any wii party game. due to the easy controls. someone thats never played a game before would have no interest in MGS, or any game with complex controls.

if your talking about teens who say their mature but are not, i think any barbie game would be right for them.

MGS4, most complex and dynamic story line with a versatile gameplay. It also throws in some funny gags which are always great.
