I've had Tokyo Mirage Sessions for years. Started playing some of it, but then stopped. Would like to hopefully play through it some day. It was one of those niche JRPG games that came out for the Wii U. Features a cross cast between Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem characters. The battle system was cool from what I remember.

How about you, SW? What games have you had for the longest time but still hope to play through eventually?

There are some Gamecube and PS3 games I still haven't played.

But much to my shame I loved Shadow Tactics but have yet to play Desperados 3 by the same devs... I did play the beta though.

I have a few…lol

Sleeping Dogs. I’ve had this in my Steam library for a while and I only played through the first hour or two. I thought the game was great but for some reason was never compelled to go back and finish it

Mass Effect series. I never played the first or 3rd one and the 2nd one I played just due to the sheer popularity from the first one going into the second. I absolutely loved and enjoyed Mass Effect 2 back on the Xbox 360 and I think I put about 15 hours or so in this one but again never beat it. I have the Legendary edition on Steam so I had plan on jumping back into this series some time this year

Yakuza 0. Played the first 4-5 hours and again thought it was great but got distracted with other games that I never came back to this

Probably The Last Story for the Wii is the oldest one I have. I’ve got some others like White Knight Chronicles for PS3 that are fairly old as well.

The last game was Xenoblade Chronicles which I bought the Definitive Edition in 2020 but did not start playing and finishing it until last year. I really cannot explain the reason I did not immediately start playing the game.

I very, very rarely buy games that I don't intend to play right away or very soon. In fact, I can't think of any.

Edit: Oh yeah, I did buy Darkwood on Steam a few months ago but haven't played it yet. But that's only because I'm a scared little bitch.

Mugen Souls - I bought this game like way back in 2015 or 2014 (it was the day before New Year), played the tutorial (more like sped through) and just...did not pick it back up. I do want to go back and play it, but most of the time I am on my PS4 and have been procrastinating getting back to my PS3.

Final Fantasy X - Definitely one I bought again on my PS4 (I have a PS3 copy) because I thought I had leveled my character the wrong way and decided to redo the game, but FF games can take awhile so I put down the game just haven't gone back.

Final Fantasy XII - Now this one is a good game, but after the first or second chapter, the game shows you how overwhelming it can be to keep up with everything. It's one of those things that I would like to go back once I feel more up to the task.

- Xenogears (Everyone talks about this game like it's just so great but I still haven't played it. I definitely played the demo that came with Parasite Eve, though.)

- Assassin's Creed Valhalla (I really enjoyed Origins and Odyssey so I'm sure I'll enjoy this one. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.)

- Tales of Xillia 2 (Xillia is my favorite Tales game and one of the best JRPG'S I've ever played so I don't want to play the sequel and end up disappointed if it doesn't add up.)

- Bioshock (I played Infinite and I really liked it but I haven't played the first 2 games that people say are way better.)

tlou2. What a travesty of a game. The mechanics are all great, but the story and themes turned me off. I'm still going to play through it eventually.

metroid dread too is a great game but I got lost then put it aside

I bought it right around the time of wrapping up Outlast, and I did not want to hide in a locker again as my primary attack. But I love the movies, the lore, the ships, and sci fi... so I need to install this at some point right

Man... if I started a list I'd be here until next Tuesday.. lol. I tend to buy several games at once either online or in bulk at stores when I see them on sale. It's like I always say, if you've never played a game before then it's new to you.

To answer the question to the best of my ability however, I still have around 100-200 games that aren't even open yet, and it's not because I don't want to open them for collectability sake, but because I just haven't gotten around to them yet.

A pile of PS4 games nearby that I haven't opened or gotten to yet include Exist Archive, Extinction, Punch Line, Trails of Cold Steel Decisive Edition, Trails of Cold Steel II Relentless Edition, Torment Tides of Numenera, Blue Reflection, Star Ocean Integrity and Faithlessness, Valthirian Arc Hero School Story, and Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash No Shirt No Shoes all Service Edition. There are a lot more but I could reach those.

I usually buy a game to play the actual thing. Nioh2, which i purchased like a week before ER was released, is the only game in recent memory that i purchased, played for like 2 hours and stopped because i didn't want to wire my brain to Nioh controls. Since then, Nioh2 has been sitting there collecting dust, and knowing that the game is nothing else but a lazy copy paste job of Nioh1, i don't even feel like playing it.

I have Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii left unfinished. I also have Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze for the Wii U unfinished. I’ll probably pick up the Switch version as well. Maybe I’ll actually play through the whole game finally there. 😅

yeaa i'm in the same boat with Nioh 2. just wasn't feeling it when I dipped my toes in, figured i'd play it when I was in the mood. but I think i've come to accept that i'm just never going to be in the mood, given when i've heard about it.

Lol, mines has a similar backstory, but some are mainly out of procrastination because I don't want the game to end as I like it too much.

I have AC Origin, AC Odyssey, Far Cry 4, Far Cry 5 and some switch games that I couldnt be bothered. For the Ubisoft titles I just impulsively buy em whenever ubisoft bundles em and goes on big 70%-80% discount. Idk why I buy Switch game I rarely touch the system.

It's really not though. Pretty good writing, bad gameplay. Lots of pointless sidequests like Assassin's Creed acting as filler. It's a pretty and well written slog of a game. Play it if you think you're fine with the slog part and abysmal gameplay.

Way too many. Between PC, Xbox and older consoles.

I don't even know how people find the time to own all consoles and the PC and play all those games.

Right now I'm more interested in games for maybe 5th and 6th gen consoles.

Far Cry 5

AC Rogue, Unity, Syndicate, Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla

Arkham Origins & Arkham Knight

Dragon Age Inquisition

Kingdom Come

Lego Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Pirates

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order

Might even be more. Currently working on XCOM Enemy Unknown and Lego Avengers.

I gotta stop buying games but there is always something good on sale.

I have a number of games for Steam that I got in 2016 and still have not played ... but the only one I want to play at this point is Thief Deadly Shadows ... but I don't think it has controller support. I also bought the Legacy of Kain games for dirt cheap... in like 2019 might try those at some point. There's also Blades of Time ... a C tier hack and slash that I got start of 2021 - probably a higher chance of playing it then the Kain series.

persona 5, bought it on strength of reviews but not really my thing. got it earmarked as a game to play when you're off work ill but not so ill that you're bed bound, still well enough to get on the couch, under a blanket and play video games all day. although mass effect collection may be my goto if i find myself in that situation, still not got round to that yet.

if you love the movies you have to play it asap. not faultless but still superb. one of the most atmospheric, survival horrors you'll play. the stealth mechanics are really well done. but yes you will need to hide in lockers, a lot. but you'll welcome the respite lol

There's a lot of platformers, sidescrollers, and metroidvanias I buy but I never really play. Games like Ori, Dead Cells, Blasphemous, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night....games like that.

I try them out but I guess I just don't love the genre enough and/or I am terrible at them lol, so I give up a nd go back to my dirty filthy casual games.

Persona 5 was tough, I put over a 100 hours into it over a few months. You definitely have to be vested in the game to really want to finish it.

@enzyme36: I dunno about Alien Isolation. It IS rather repetitive. I never finished it myself. It is kind of more Outlast, and I grew tired of constant hiding. Where is my shotgun when I want it?
