What happened to Crysis? Downgraded? what the george is going on here

What happened? I was rooting for this game even though I wont be able to play it. The graphics do not look at good as the earlier breathtaking Crysis videos. And this is supposed to tbe the latest one.

Major disappointment. Someone tell me this was just badly compressed video or something, or even multiplayer or something for Crysis sake.

thats the Beta...which is missing AA completly.....

and its multiplayer...so of course its gonna look worse then singleplayer....it always does....

just go ahead and look at any recent singeplayer videos...they look as good as always.

This would have been a valid point if this was not an official video which would obviously use the highest settings to advertise their games. Try again.

for the same reason the Beta has graphical settings purposefully disabled.

that video...isnt a marketing video...its the actual tutorial on the mode thats included in-game...

For real. That's like showing MGS4 on the PS2 at 2 FPS, and being like "Oh well...we decided to run it on the PS2 because..."

That looked amazing though. Easily outclasses any console game.

Anyway, where was the downgrade?

by the way I am not saying it looks bad (we'd be fortunate if all games looked this good), but it's definitely not at the level of past videos. The water made me laugh, the ground concrete was all a blur (PD0 had better floor textures)

But I am willing to give this a chance and maybe, as the video says, it's a work in progress and they haven't finished the last touches yet and are concentrating on the gameplaymechanics first.

Yeah, it really isn't a matter of prooving his statement. It makes sense on its own. It would make sense for them to use favorable settings to make their game look good. Do you actually not agree with that? What do you think of the video? Does it look good to you? flintgijoe

Fair enough. "Prove it" arguments to me are generraly weak sauce and a delay tactic at best, so i tend to try to shoot them down. Demonstarate that his idea is invalid by bringing up a superior idea, and I will listen.

Crysis will blow away all games graphically once it is released, if you have the hardware. This has become evident over time. Crysis's graphics look astonishing.

Yeah. If you had pre-ordered Crysis through EAstore.com, you get a 24 hour exclusive on the SP demo (including some other random stuff). You might still be able to do it, I dunno. I just pre-ordered it yesterday after I found out. Much as I dread to get anything directly from EA, much less something via digital download, this seemed worth it (especially since I might not get much time to play tomorrow or this weekend).

that is the TUTORIAL shown for the BETA. They are going over GAMEPLAYaspectsrunning on the ACTUAL BETA BUILD which has a maximum of HIGH, not Very High, with no AA, no AF and only medium res textures.... It is also the MP.

PS - 90% of the videos are DX9 videos which means they aren't themaximum settings... SOOOO many things wrongwith your logic.

again...let me explain to everyone...not only was the beta very poorly optimized...but it was missing many graphical effects...and as always...multiplayer never looks as good as singleplayer.

Do you consider 8000 series graphics cards, part of a "future PC"? I'm pretty sure they are modern day chips.

The water looks much better than it does in that video. But I guess you wouldn't know, considering you have never played the beta.

PC Games dont get downgraded. Ever.

The MP beta is limited to Medium settings and the DX9 codepath. That video is Crysis MP on medium. Still looks better then any console.
