What happens if, when OoT is re-reviewed for the Virtual Console (and my guess is that it will be the next release for the VC come Monday considering both Japan and Australia now have the game), it gets below a 10? We all know it will happen, but my question is how system wars will handle it. I can see it now, cows and lemmings claiming ownage over sheep for a 10 year old game not getting its perfect score again. Franquely I still expect it to get a 9 at least after all of these years, but I would like to make it clear that OoT is still considered AAAA because it got a 10 when it was first released, which is what counts. Anything otherwise simply wouldn't be logical.

Games don't tend to age well with the times, our standards improve and we expect more, but unless you're going to rate it as a pure nostalgic experience and expect nothing new at all, it will do great, but don't expect to hear it out loud people willover sell the ownage by a long shot.

If it gets a 7.0, people will point to the 10 it originally got. If it gets a 9.5, people will still point to the fact that it got a 10. And the Virtual Console doesn't change the games at all. So why review it again? Seems like a waste of time to me.

That won't happen. ALttP got an 8.5, which is only .7 less than the GBA version that was reviewed. Considering OoT is better than ALttP, I'd say the VC game will get either the 10 it got when it was released, a 9.3, or they may just skip reviewing it all together considering it got a 10 and it is in GS's Hall of Fame.... those are pretty much all you need to know it is worth the purchase.

I think the game has aged very well.... the visuals were amazing considering they were on the N64, when I play it today I don't say "Eww, those graphics are horrible." I say, "Wow, these graphics were some of the best on the N64".... plus the game is still better than TP for sure, and I say that after having had OoT for 8-9 years and having had beat the game again just under a year ago.

uhh.... well, that's kind of what I'm wondering It's system wars, of course it will happen. But I think that most people won't claim ownage, mainly because it's stupid claiming ownage over a dropping score. There might be some turmoil if it scores real low, but in the end, it really won't matter.
I think that if a game got a PERFECT score, it should be a game that is fun no matter how distant time has gone since its release. A game that can withstand the test of time should be a 10, otherwise it should be a high 9. Although, it's hard to look into the future for those kinds of things.
