What happens to Xbox One games generation after this

I dont post a lot here, I was just wondering since this console has to be authenticated every day, what happens like 10 years from now when their servers arent supporting the console anymore, are the games still going to play or? Or lets say that Microsoft leaves gaming, maybe I am asking questions that cant be answered now.

i would be horrified of this too since i am pretty sure the internet won't exist in a few years.

They will disappear or no longer be transferable....much like my Xbox Live arcade library

In the situation that MS decides to keep on with the DRM crap, then I suppose it would be logical to think that before "shutting down the servers" they would release a firmware patch to turn off the DRM so that people who bought the games can still play them offline.lightleggy

not what i meant. i meant a literal requirement for checking in. like it being truly impossible to play without doing so and not even ms being able to do anything about it.

There won't be a next gen. Teh cloud will continue to grow more powahful and eventually the XBone will be able to destroy teh Cell

There is still a question on if we can sell the Xbone machine once we are done, down the road...

To answer you TC, you won't be able to play games a generation after this when the Xbone is eventually taken offline, unless things change.

A: MS release update to remove the need for the 24 hr check ins

It is software. Since every console will be online, they could simply patch the consoles to disable it and enable play offline. Simple....navyguy21

Their servers are likely to stay up forever. 

This thread is stupid geez what happend to my games if steam or origin going bankrupt yea right if they going to out of bussiness anytime soon microsoft already servicing enterprise since decade ago i think ms gonna do well
