God there is so many good ones. Uncharted is the best new IP period so that is the automatic vote. After that you have a ton of single IPs like Flower/Journey/Demons Souls etc, but franchise wise I would give Infamous the nod. God Of War is my second favourite if you go back one more year.
What if someone hasn't played 1 and 2, would you still recommend 3?
I still haven't played them myself, although there's a HD collection coming. Yakuza 3 offers a good enough explanation as to what happened in the first two, so you shouldn't worry about the story.
Demon's Souls easily. I'd love to see another one on the next PlayStation. It would be a huge system-seller for me.

It'll never happen because Dark Souls makes Namco Bandai more money. Plus it's basically the same damn game. Sony still owns the Demon's Souls IP, so technically they could make a sequel. The problem would be that From Software wouldn't be the devs and I can't think of anyone of Sony's developers being able to do the game justice.

The problem would be that From Software wouldn't be the devs and I can't think of anyone of Sony's developers being able to do the game justice. Pretty much. Which is why I think it won't happen. But hey, Superbot couldn't do Super Smash Bros. justice and Eat Sleep Play couldn't do Twisted Metal justice, and those games happened anyway, so I wouldn't rule it out.

warhawk and eye of judgement were my favs this gen. they really kept me going in the early ps3 years. other games were ok but not as fun as those were to me
Yakuza,there´s really no other series that interests me all that much on the PS3 aside from this one. As for individual games,now that I finally ended up playing it through completion,Demon´s Souls is up there as well.

They were hands on in the development of Demon's Souls. Not implying anything, but From Software's last three games before Demon's Souls were Tenchu Z, Armored Core, and Enchanted Arms...
