Going off "review scores", which apparently mean everything on these forums, either The Order or Driveclub probably.

I'd say The Order but that already had bad press prior to release by people like Collin Moriarty. Quantum Break was WAY too overhyped.

Thief easily.

Even if it always looked sloppy, that's still a new entry in a pretty legendary series that was just supremely shit. Critically panned and commercially ignored.

I don't think people deserve to gauge a bomb unless it effects them personally:

  • Driveclub really hurt, actually I didn't care for the game. I didn't play it but didn't want to, and I wasn't hoping it would be better. I actually resented Evolution for ditching Motorstorm series. I resented them for abandoning it with that piece-of-shit Apocalypse. But, Drive Club disappoints me because it was a game that killed the studio. Dang, I was really hoping we'd see a modern Motorstorm game, or at least a modern remaster of the first two games on the PS4.
  • Alien Isolatioin - frankly I love the game, it's not a commercial failure from what I can tell but isn't exactly doing great commercially. Critically as well the game was just on the better side of average but it's just that, aggregate it's just very average game; commercially too. I can't see why. Is the Alien(s) franchise no longer appeal to younger gamers like it did for older gamers? Or do people not like horror? Have there just been too many shit Alien(s) games over the years for people to care anymore? I was kind of let down by some people who were huge fans of the Alien(s) franchise even shitting on Isolation, over some pretty petty criticisms. Saying the gameplay is too repetitive, that it required too much replaying sections and backtracking (which I don't really recall except to explore for collectibles). I played through it three times already, going back for a forth soon. I really don't see what stick some people have up their asses, this game is a love letter to anybody that's been a fan of the Alien(s) franchise.
  • Just Cause 3 - let's just ignore the broken console launch, or even the PC launch not even working for everyone either, playing the game a few weeks later after some patching making it more playable, the game is an utter letdown in terms of size and general gameplay design. Just Cause 2 was a much bigger and better game (in its time) than Just Cause 3. Oh well, at least Avalanche nailed Mad Max.
  • The Evil Within - commercially does good, "LOL VG Chartz" says about 4 million sales over 4 console platforms, however has an aggregate MetaCritic score of 68% on PC, 75% on PS4, 78% Xbox One. I admit some aspects of the performance bug me, the black bars, the engine, but man-oh-man as a fan of survival horror the game grew on me. If you like Shingi Mikami's RE4 then you'll love this. I think my disappointment, the kind of jabs people take at this game and games like this that refuse to conform to survival horror games being walking simulators that only give you a gun with 5 bullets and you're just expected to run around the game knifing and roundhouse kicking everything, **** those people but they're out there in force, just more evident by this games critical reception just how true that is in this day in age. Even more evident by those people who still shit on RE6 and pretend to know what the game did wrong but then praise piece-of-shit games like RER2.
  • Fatal Frame V - the very problem isn't with the design (that I know of) it's Nintendo's entire publishing philosophy of not wanting to support this game commercially, they didn't release a physical copy in North America, the game is too large to put on their HDD without upgrading (which I'm not doing), they took an entire year to publish outside of Japan. They pull this bullshit because they say they think the game won't sell, then they take actions that basically guarantee that very thing they claim was going to be the case actually happens. This is what sociologists would refer to as self-fulfilling prophecy. Nintendo also, Nintendo isn't the only one to pull such bullshit, but SCE has done this with the Siren sequel (didn't release 2 in NA and didn't release Blood Curse on PS3 in NA on disc, digital only). Nintendo also didn't release Crimson Butterfly Wii on disc in North America either. I hate this bullshit.
  • Devil's Third - the fiasco with Itagaki leaving Team Ninja over not being paid for milestone bonuses or whatever, he left and left by himself, this deserves to be contrasted with other game industry leaders who leave their former positions who either fail/succeed. Platinum is a perfect case of success, Itagaki not. Differences? Itagai left by himself, taking with him none of those he spent years developing synergy and strong working relationships with. Platinum? Basically Capcom creative heads left and took everybody of talent with them, basically leaving Capcom as a shell of its former self while it's creative and technical genius ended up under a new name which is now growing in popularity. Every major publisher seems to want a piece of their action. Anyhow, back to Itagaki, the guy is nothing by himself. Kojima should take notice if his team didn't leave Konami with him. Anyhow, game looks awful. Aside from performance issues there's seemingly many poor design implementations in the gameplay. Watching the game go from third person to first when shooting makes me want to vomit like a Targaryen vomit dragon. Lastly, back on subject of Fatal Frame V, here's a game Nintendo DID publish on disc even though they knew it wasn't going to be a big seller, so they just printed limited patches... but they won't for Fatal Frame V, those fucking bitches!!
  • SMT x Fire Emblem - I'm not going to lie, seeing SMT in the title was enough to get me all excited. It's sad just to see what this became. Some J-pop dancing diva pop concert battle arena combat game or whatever the fucking hell it is. Oh, and the damage control over the final product, it was gonna do so bad they weren't even going to put money into localizing the audio so they said they were keeping in Nipponese only to preserve it's integrity... laughable. It's not out yet, but let's face it, decisively gonna bomb.
  • Killzone Shadowfall - I admit, I wasn't a huge fan of KZ 2/3 when they released, but they grew on me with time. I'm really turned off by the direction they've taken since KZ3. I liked the design of the former games, the world, the design of the epic campaigns, the huge industrial futuristic landscapes. KZ:SF just seems too futuristic, too sanitary, too overpowered player character, seems way too different. Honestly, I've yet to play it through yet. Need to, might feel differently about it after, maybe it'll grow on me all the same. In short I just seem annoyed by the design choices they made with this game. But, that being said, it's not like the most vocal Sony fanboys have had anything great to say about this game at all. Even Guerrilla is taking a hiatus from the series. It has the potential to become something great still, just in a lull at the moment, and it's questionable if it'll ever crawl out of the hole it's in. Not a bright future as far as I see it, either Guerrilla is going to knock it out of the ballpark with Horizon, then they'll be compelled to chase that success with sequels, or that will bomb and they'll be next of the Sony studios to get cut, maybe. This might realistically be the end of the series.

Quantum Break. Mostly because everyone thought it would save the XB1, but in the end it only did what everything else involving the XB1 does, which is flop.

@DressYouUp: Isn't it obvious? Master Chief Collection. Four Halo games that were released in a nearly unplayable state and had issues for months. Sales were and scores were bad. It was a huge bomb. Knack was a new IP no one really knew or cared about. Killzone Didn't do as poorly as knack and actually outscored Quantum Break here.

Any answer than MCC is wrong. It was such a play-it-safe holiday system seller on paper. It was such a monumental eff up that it ended up flopping a legendary franchise, sowed the seeds of discontent for the new developer house, and laid the groundwork for Halo 5 to be critically panned.

MCC wasn't just the flop of the generation, it flopped an entire gaming phenomenon by souring the nostalgia factor of a strong franchise. It wasn't a mega flop, giga flop, or even a Tera flop, it was a Peta flop. The first of its kind. It explored new depths of floptitude. You'd call it an astroflop if that didn't immediately endear the assumption it ever left the ground in the first place.

Doesn't matter it was neither hyped up nor did it receive a AAA budget. It did about as well as anyone could have expected it to.

Personally, Halo.

MCC was a disaster at launch, and Halo 5 was a disappointment all around. Congratulations to 343 on screwing my favorite franchise to the point where I nearly don't give a damn about it. Luckily, Bethesda Game Studios manages to continues to excel, and Creative Assembly is still going strong... although, they're working on Halo Wars 2 so I hope they don't screw that up.
